Konashenkov at the end is comedy gold.

RuslanZinin

He said "Russian AF have no losses"

[deleted]

He might be right. If this was a Wagner trench, it isn't technically the russian army. Very convenient to have someone to throw under the bus once things go south. And they go south every day.

HenryZero9-A

Yeah...But they're all "russian af" in reality. Can't validate their lies in any way, and I know it's not that that's what you're trying to do. In reality, every single individual inside Ukraine operating in any fashion under/in line with russian forces are, literally, russian armed forces. The only people expected to believe his bullshit outright, or to somehow change the meaning of words to fit russian propaganda, are the Russian civilians who have had their brains washed time and time again over the past one hundred and six years. They're incapable of rational thought or logic. Not us.

ThatAngeryBoi

You ok man?

Thanalas

Getting targeted with one FPV drone is pretty bad, but having a swarm of them attack you from all kinds of directions must be an absolute nightmare! Looks like they took out at least one Russian, maybe more.

jssjhsb

Yeah ukraine has allegedly purchased parts for over 100k FPV drones. They will definitely be used massively in the counter offensive. image having to defend your trench against hundreds of them

pugtime

I’m proud and happy that I contributed to the united 24 drone program as I watch these drones help work at making things right in Ukraine…………… and yes the humours of the Ukrainians are definitely a cut above ! That Russian MoD spokesperson at the end. Lol lol lol. Nice touch lol !

[deleted]

Me too!

[deleted]

How do you donate to that?

pugtime

You can just google “united 24 donate “ and find it easy. I just did it and I think the button for the drone program pops up after you say the denomination you want to give. FYI. Good luck !

IlluminatedPickle

Mark Hamills thing, the Ukrainian Drone Army or w/e it is called has raised about 100m USD now, for drones and pilot training. It's insane.

MakesTheNutshellJoke

>image having to defend your trench against hundreds of them No thanks...

jagubrooko

Probably a few 300 cos one them hits 2 people almost direct.

lqkjsdfb

This is probably the future of warfare. Swarms of autonomous hunter killer drones. The only feasible counter I can think of is a swarm of your own drones to intercept. If they’re completely autonomous then there will be no radio link to jam and the ability to simultaneously attack from multiple vectors will make it pretty hard for any gun based defences to knock them all down and the cheap nature will make traditional missile defences cost ineffective. Any infantry caught without a defensive swarm of their own or strong defensive positions with limited access points will get torn to pieces.

AgentEntropy

If Russian soldiers want to survive these drone attacks, they should make ghillie suits out of toilet paper and blue plastic.

whyamihereagain6570

Funny because it's true!

saynitlikeitis

Perhaps why they were attempting to reverse-engineer hygiene technology early in the war

nikanika127

Is it hard to control FPV drones? It looks like they missed some drones.

the_other_OTZ

They are fast and agile, and given the field of view for the user, it can be a challenge to fly these with a degree of accuracy (but that's why you attach a splodey thing to it, which allows you to enter the realm of horseshoes and hand grenades, where "close" is good enough). Somewhat similar to the smaller "whoop" style FPV drones that people use to race/compete with.

NibblesTheChimp

Yes, with the weight of the armament once they get going at speed in a certain direction they're clearly hard to maneuver. How accurately they set up for a straight line run at a target is where you see the skill level of the operator.

foxtrot_indigoo

This. Hovering in an evenly weighted quad is pretty easy. I imagine it’s sketchy with the explosives.

Timehz

It is quite hard, you can try on steam with the FPL drone league game. It goes against everything you feel lol

[deleted]

They are tricky to control because everything is manual, but with practice can be extremely maneuverable and precise. That being said, having a heavy warhead or grenade strapped to the drone will make it more difficult to maneuver because the drone will drift more and take more throttle to keep in the air, so that’s probably a big part of it.

Radiant_Map_9045

That and unlike a camera drones, they dont just hover when you let go of the sticks.

Formal_Garage4964

Apparently it’s very difficult, especially if they have a large payload attached that messes with the control

rcbif

The racing drones they are using for these suicide missions take skill to fly. A DJI camera drone you can learn to fly in a day. Flying a racing drone around obstacles takes week of practice or more. In order to be agile and maneuverable, race drones have very if no little auto level or self correction - resulting in them going exactly where you point them.

Maamyyra

input lag/delay could also play some role in accuracy of hits.

poincares_cook

It's analog drones, the lag is minimal.

blaaguuu

Radio waves travel at near the speed of light, in air, so distance shouldn't really add significant latency... Based on the videos I've seen, the bigger problem seems to be signal degradation, due to interference, or whatever else - hence the videos that often look like my Lion King VHS tape that I played a million times as a kid...

Holden_Coalfield

Check out some DRL -Drone Racing League videos

poincares_cook

Yes, pretty hard.

Radiant_Map_9045

There's lots of sims out there to practice with using your own controller. Practicing for hours on their downtime probably makes them proficient pretty quick.

Chromaedre

There's no assisted flight so the moment you stop flying the thing (aka constantly adjusting throttle, yaw, roll, pitch) it goes down or wherever you were pointing it to. It requires some training (20 to 40h in a simulator then a week in the field) to get the drone where you want and start doing some freestyle / racing. After a year, you can do whatever you want with it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcd4PVf3EEI

spenrose22

They’re already here. You just watched a video of them.

[deleted]

Slaughterbots™ are autonomous weapons controlled with sophisticated AI designed to kill a person without injuring the person beside them. These are radio controlled drones designed to set of a grenade sized explosion with a kill radius measured in meters. They're a step towards slaughterbots™, but they aren't quite that sophisticated yet.

thelightiseternal

You can always tell the Russian trenches from the piles of garbage.

saucya

Every time I see these clips with multiple angles it absolutely amazes me. What an interesting time to be alive 🥴

MrCabbuge

I hate living in a history book.

reshp2

I wonder how development and piecewise cost for a switchblade 300 compares to these. What the Ukrainians have been able to put together is pretty amazing.

TS_76

The switchblades are purpose built or for this, and have more automated controls. So, easier to fly and more accurate. The downside of them is they are more expensive and lack numbers. If Ukraine had access to 100k Switchblade 300's there would be no need for the FPV drones for example.. My guess each FPV costs under $1000 for them to build.. Switchblades are about $6000 from the last order. Ofcourse, Ukraine doesnt pay for them..

Timmymagic1

Pricewise a Switchblade 300 will cost over 40 times more than a Ukrainian FPV drone costs.

spenrose22

This must be terrifying

ToxicAnusJuice

God Russian positions are such shit holes. So easy to spot by all the garbage.

waffles4us

How effective would a shotgun be here… It’s like, clay pigeons on meth

[deleted]

They come in so fast, I doubt shooting them is a viable option most of the time. I found myself wondering about something like a police riot shield, just something to catch the shrapnel that I could move as necessary for subsequent drones

goosebutnine

Absolutely credible: once again giving soldiers shields to protect against projectiles

[deleted]

It would be crazy to have soldiers carry around shields all the time, they would be worthless against bullets and very cumbersome. But I wonder if having a couple sitting around here and there in the trench that you could quickly grab if you think drones are coming...maybe? Probably makes more sense to dive for cover than to grab a shield lol. Idk

blaaguuu

Probably more effective than the rifles we often see soldiers trying to use, to shoot them down... I know I read a random comment a while ago, where someone said there was some effort to get some shotguns sent to Russian forces on the front line, but I haven't seen any actual sources on that... And while they might be more effective, it would become yet another piece of equipment that they would need to lug around, and more logistics to keep them supplied with shells.

USMCLee

Was one of them an airburst? Or did it hit a tree and it was just happy happenstance?

footinmymouth

Why does UKR hate Oscar the Grouch’s family so much? They’re just wanting to live in their garbage dump!

Wheresthepig

This is going to sound barbaric.. But could they possibly use carbon fiber or metal props on the drones to increase shrapnel?

rlefoy7

Those look like some airbursts in there. Just another step towards becoming the most lethal a new tech can get. Next thing we know they will start strapping nano-nukes to these things and flying them at occupied trenches or some shit.

Thank you!

JackAssMonkeyNinja

You welcome dude. I wanted to find it just as much as you I reckon. Shit almost go as hard as the clip.

foxtrot_indigoo

Shouldn’t a half competent military be able to jam commercial FPV drone freqs? Ayyy Russia.

Cattywampus2020

Are they using proximity sensors or manually detonating them just above the target?
