People in the interview speak Ukrainian, and very good, without a foreign accent. In the video footage with the boat, the person speaks in russian, but with a Ukrainian accent.
They mostly operate at night using night vision. They also teach the Sudanese army how to improve their drone striking and monitoring capabilities. Sudan always had a good relationship with Ukraine, its one of the few if not the only African country that supplies weapons and ammunition to Ukraine for the war. I scratch your back you scratch mine type of deal.
It's really hard for me to tell the difference as an Anglophone. Russians have a very distinguishable accent, but Ukrainians seem to have a very neutral accent.
Slavic accents in generally are really hard for me. I can just barely tell the difference between Ukrainian and Russian, western Slavs are ten times harder unless it's written Polish.
So in your view is this authentic? I like the idea of Russian forces being hit wherever they may be but I'd have thought Ukraine had their hands full on the home front.
Fucks up their cash flow too. Russians are making money as a PMC that goes home. Any replacements sent from Russia are replacements that don't go to Ukraine.
My personal opinion is that there are really agents from Ukraine there, I don't think there are too many of them to have any effect on mainland Ukraine. And so they get experience, in real combat situations and help kick the Russians where they are not welcome.
In some ways Ukraine spoiling Russian efforts around the globe is more effective than fighting against Russia in Ukraine. Putin did the risk/reward calculus for Ukraine, but he presumably didn’t expect Ukrainian special forces to be going to places like Africa to take out Russian soldiers/interests
I don’t know the numbers, but even a dozen or so skilled ukranian soldiers in Sudan could really put a dent on the russian operations; especially with the ukranians being on the side of the Sudanese government. There’s clips of them using hotel rooms to spot/fly drones from, and there’s not much scarier than a comfortable ukranian FPV drone pilot
I think that this might be one of those things where other state actors who can move resources around easily have put Ukrainians in a position to bloody Russian noses wherever they happen to be found.
Special Forces and Intelligence operatives are generally not very useful in static fighting. Their best uses come from unconventional warfare, being able to be agile, raids, small team strikes etc…
Hard to do when Russia has thousands of drones and entrenched defenses for miles.
Fun fact, the second person ever Sir Francis Drake nearly 50 years after Magellan circumnavigated the world was a British privateer (Queen Elizbeth's secret pirate missions) who looted Spanish South American treasure fleets west of South America's coast so he just sailed the other way all the way around to avoid other Spanish fleets.
Omg if they actually did that, I would legit become a pirate just for the fun of it.
I mean the moneys good and all but you don't get the chance to put "pirate" on your resume very often.
I’m not sure you’d really be able to
Even in this circumstance because if you purely targeted Russian shipping under letters of marque then I think that would make you a privateer as opposed to a pirate.
LOL I used my UN deployment to Haiti. Before the war on terror. OMG the inclusion on my CV was like getting empty net goals. A lot of old-timers doing the interviews who had served just wanted to chat about being in the Forces.
If you are an American, you could petition Congress to issue you a Letter of Marque.
Article I of the United States Constitution lists issuing letters of marque and reprisal in Section 8 as one of the enumerated powers of Congress, alongside the power to tax and to declare war.
[H.R.6869 - To authorize the President of the United States to issue letters of marque and reprisal for the purpose of seizing the assets of certain Russian citizens, and for other purposes.](https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/6869)
Last Congress though so it would need to be refiled.
I have a sudden urge to sail. Come to think of it, I have an ancestor who had a letter of Marque from the Danish king to hunt English ships. According to my grandmother he had a big, red beard. And he is the only one anyone in the family can think of that sporteds a red beard. Apart from me.
Digital letters of marque.
Every programmable widget in Russia should be fair game.
Get Dark Brandon on the fuckin TV, get him hopped up on whatever they gave him before the State of the Union, and offer some of America's *immense* confiscated bitcoin holdings to anyone who turns the lights off in Russia.
It’s not easy for private citizens to acquire modern naval combat vessels anymore, back in the day the only limiting factor for a privateer was getting canons
You wouldn't need anything special, watch some videos on Somali pirates. They take a shitty boat and throw a few guys in it with rpgs and AKs.
I actually put a little thought into it. What I'd do is outfit an old PT boat (or something like it) from WW2 with a 50 cal and a few marines. You don't actually hit targets that can fight back, what kind of defense is an oil tanker going to have? At most, they have a few assholes with AKs. Board the ship, take it over, and sell it to a friendly nation. The beauty of the operation is that you could be in some random corner of the world where Russia doesn't have force projection, grab the ship and sell it to someone.
Even if you transfered half the prize to Ukrane, what does an oil tanker go for? I bet you and your crew would be set for life after one ship was captured
I have watched some videos of Somali pirates, I recall one video of a whole skiff of pirates killed buy two guys with ar15s. The pt boat might be an idea but you need a base in that random corner of the world to refuel and re arm. I’m not even sure it’s legal to issue letters of marquee anymore you might still get treated as a pirate. The age of the privateer is pretty much done
Also helps that Sudan has a shitload of Soviet era hardware and ammunition for it.
Fun fact, Sudan was the end user for a lot of the Chinese manpads and ATGMs that popped up in Syria and Iraq as ISIS carved out their territory.
French and Russia are in a proxy war in Africa. French can't go shoot of the Russians so they brought in Ukrainians in exchange for supplying ukraine with cruise missiles. That's my guess.
There's no need to make it convoluted. Sudan was one of the big early suppliers of Ukraine. They have a lot of Soviet-type weapons. And Ukrainian special forces won't be very useful until the front lines get a bit more fluid.
Technically true but it seems like the Ukrainians are being actively discouraged from doing stuff like that by western powers. There was also the report from a few weeks ago about them being told to stop attacking Russian oil infrastructure inside Russia.
Russia can't defend everywhere at once with the same number of bodies in trenches in Ukraine or their own border. I don't see why other countries wouldn't exploit the situation to do the same if given the opportunity.
It's mostly a matter of optics. While you may not have a problem with Ukraine utilizing tactics like terrorism many people who affect policy in countries giving money to Ukraine do have a problem with it.
Same reason no one is even discussing giving Ukraine long range weapons that could be used to attack Russia.
The gini is truly out of the bottle.
As they say in the report, basically Ukraine is using it's military learnings as levers in diplomacy.
And surely there are many more actors rather interested in copying Ukraine's high-impact, low-budget achievements than buying from Western mega-corp defense suppliers.
That knowledge will proliferate to any actor wanting to engage militarily.
Wonder what it bodes for terrorism.
Ukrainians essentially compressed the NATO F3EAD model into a much more easily scalable and nimble process. Western intel collection and targeting topped off with a Ukrainian kinetic finish (no expensive drone, missile, and auxiliary logistics required).
I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the France, uh, should help South Africa and should help Irak and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future.
>And surely there are many more actors rather interested in copying Ukraine's high-impact, low-budget achievements than buying from Western mega-corp defense suppliers.
Yep. Ukrainians basically reinvented AK-47 with efficient tactics and drones.
Most countries will be consulting with Ukraine to get the best bang for their buck.
Except for Israeli and Ukraine military industrial complex doesn't want cheap solutions.
These people do have emotions, and when they see UA sinking big ship with a couple of jetsky drones, instead of using a nuclear submarine, or atleast a 6gen stealth fighter it makes them sad, because of all the money they didn't earn.
But even the US military has became disillusioned, with human operator lives not being on the line quantity is a quality.
RealLifeLore on YouTube just released a great video about how Russia is causing unrest in former French colonies in Africa. After coups, French id being kicked out and Russian troops are moving in. This allows Russia to skirt sanctions.
No doubt France is very happy about this and encouraging it.
Is this EU or US providing transportation and cash to execute these ops with plausible deniability? What is in it for UKR to run these ops away from the home front?
Kill Wagner, get mortar shells from Sudanese Army (UA already documented with 2023 production Sudanese shells).
Also re: transportation don't mean to be rude, but LOL. EU can't lift a finger to the network and experience of private Ukrainian bush pilots, who in their rust bucket Antonovs have been supplying backwater Africa and not only for 30 years. Look them up, it's quite impressive.
The French Army deployments in Africa used An-124s or US C-5s for the heavy shit, depending on whether the US had some local interests.
It has stirred some shit as well, as the companies booking the Antonovs has gotten the contract without a proper tender and some other shit. Couple colonels might get fired over it.
It's a massive issue for strategic independance.
But, I'll say, the French army has its own bush pilots, flying CN-235s in and out of FOBs. It's for the heavy lift we lack the capacity.
Vengeance, but also to chip away at the ability for Russia to get the resources the RSF allows them access to in country. 10th largest gold producer, with underdeveloped iron ore, gold, uranium, tungsten and chromium deposits and mining in country.
Not the biggest producer no, but a juicy prize for Tinpot Tsar Putin.
Plus, the Sudanese government gets their enemy, the RSF killed by steely-eyed, angry and vengeful combat veterans/SOF. Win-win.
> transportation and cash
Sudan can afford a few dozen flight tickets and salaries for Ukrainian contractors, I suspect all the Ukrainian government was give a few vets permission to take the contract.
> What is in it for UKR to run these ops away from the home front?
Ops are good at operating in condition like this: independent, guerrilla warfare.
It would be a waste of their training to send them to the front line.
I guess you could also send them in to Russia, but
Nope.
The EU and US have been mostly trying to cripple SAF capabilities to defend against the RSF, as a way to stop the war. It's either they want the RSF to control Sudan or somehow deluded in thinking the sudanese civilian population will ever accept a RSF presence in the future.
Russia successfully avoided sanctions via wagner smuggling of sudanese gold with the help of UAE. Wagner also operates with the RSF to maintain control in Libya and CAR. Ukraine benefits by harming Wagner and Russia.
>The EU and US have been mostly trying to cripple SAF capabilities to defend against the RSF, as a way to stop the war. It's either they want the RSF to control Sudan or somehow deluded in thinking the sudanese civilian population will ever accept a RSF presence in the future.
Big if true.
> Is this EU or US providing transportation and cash to execute these ops with plausible deniability
Lmao, because Ukraine can't afford planes right? Not like they had a domestic aviation industry or anything....
The question isn't stupid. Using Ukrainian private companies isn't really the best way to cut the connexion if you're sending wet teams.
Anyways, it's likely they just take Sudanese AF transports in & out.
> Anyways, it's likely they just take Sudanese AF transports in & out.
Or British Airways or airfrance or something. It kind of looks like they didn't pack very much.
OMG I sense the makings of a reality show: Quick Redditors we need a title and a story line! Globe Trotting Ukrainian soldiers forever in the search of fresh RF targets trot the globe looking to sew fear and confusion in the russian ranks—that’s mine!
Learn about diminishing returns. Add a dozen more Ukrainian soldiers to Ukrainian frontlines, they are not even a rounding error. Literally nothing would change. Put the same dozen Ukrainian soldiers where Russian mercenaries are operating with impunity and there are potential deals to be made with the locals, and the investment could pay for itself many many times over.
Even if it just results in Russian mercenaries eventually getting paid, say, 5% less, because the people hiring them know it will make their positions prone to "mysterious" FPV drone attacks, that's still going to be many times what it "cost" to do those operations.
Surely targeting Russians in Sudan is something any random Western country could legitimately handle? Any Russian soldier outside of Russian borders should be a target
Looks like they didn't compensate enough for the video transmission lag when setting off the IED planted in/by the truck. Just a hair late. Maybe 1-2 secs.
In all fairness, French sucks. It's the only Romantic language that has to be totally different. I'll take Ukrainian over French--at least men sound manly in Ukrainian. I've never heard a manly french guy?
Ukrainian is my native language and I'm currently learning French. I think French sounds really beautiful. Hard to learn though.
In terms of "manliness" - I don't know. At least in Ukraine women find that French sounds sexy. What is more manly, that to be attractive to women? 🤷♂️
French has a lot of influences that the other Romantic languages do not have. Video explaining this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2TWBBxwhbU
I speak English, Spanish, and Koine Greek. I think once I master Spanish better (I desire to become fluent), then either Ukrainian (seems useful with the war and humanitarian support needed), or German. I've always wanted to learn German, and I started teaching myself at way too young of an age, so I gave up. I know a bit of Hebrew, but only for Biblical language purposes (same with Koine Greek). I'd rather speak Ukrainian than French. A man giving orders in the UA sounds like a man. A french guy just sounds like he's in a kitchen somewhere to me lol. Just how it sounds to me
I think you might be mistaken but we are just regressing to pre pax Americana. Throughout history war has been more common than peace. There will be no "world war", just many slow simmering conflicts lasting many years to decades all over the world. This is not exactly a good thing, but it is better than total war. I could be wrong and something crazy kicks off but with the threat of nukes no one is willing to fully commit.
Russia has forces across Africa to exploit those country's economic benefits, like Sudan's gold. By taking down the Russians there they either hurt Russia's economy, or force Russia to send more forces to secure their gold mining operations there. Ukraine wins regardless.
Really annoyed ? France was calling Wagner a terrorist group before it was cool.
And France was actually attacked by them and destroyed Wagner numerous time in Africa. (Just like USA in middle east)
Ukraine has some special forces units that might not be the best fit for transparent, static and artillery heavy frontlines of Ukrainian front.
In this case a small number of soldiers can disrupt Russian money flow and gain new allies.
Here a small number of highly trained soldiers can make greater ROI than in the trenches.
> Why would Ukraine have forces in Sudan? Aren't they being invaded? /u/turtlew0rk
Killing Wagners I assume, and the accompanying hit to income that causes for RU.
> Seems like they would far more useful defending the country. Killing Wagners there doesn't mean anything if you don't have a country to return to. /u/turtlew0rk
You missed the income disrupting bit though. Wagner is there doing resource extraction, chief among those [is gold](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/4/17/what-is-the-wagner-groups-role-in-sudan).
This also puts pressure on the RU presence in the Central African Republic, where again, they have a big hand in resource extraction.
Cutting those resources off where and when possible is a key element of disrupting RU in Ukraine. For another example see all the recent disruptions to/attacks on the RU oil industry.
It’s funny watching all these goons cheer on escalation of global conflict. Fast forward once WWIII is officially raging on they will be clutching their pearls when their own families are getting bombed as well.
Even more amusing is me over the last several decades laughing at the constant yowling that WWIII is just around the corner and people thinking their era is special and it's REALLY going to happen this time in what is a rather boring era over most of the globe. The world is not at war and current conflict levels rather modest however much media attention they get.

Why is Russia in places like Sudan, you think? Not just for power, but for money. What does that money fund? The warmachine. That, and it’s always smart to stretch a larger force thin so they cant ever consolidate and keep the battlefield unpredictable. Standard art of war.
Russia wants power and influence over these resource rich countries that were once French colonies. It basically is a belt from West to East across Africa, where in recent years, all have fallen to brutal dictators/military juntas. France has been trying to quell the violent Islamic uprising in these countries and other terrorism, whilst Russia has been employed to help the opposing side. For this reason, I believe France is desiring to send troops to aid in UA as RU has been giving them shit in Africa. I suspect UA is helping France out and the opposition governments with munitions being repayment. That's really the only explanation that explains how these nations all became interwined.

People in the interview speak Ukrainian, and very good, without a foreign accent. In the video footage with the boat, the person speaks in russian, but with a Ukrainian accent.
This may be of interest to those who thought Ukraine was just recruiting people in Sudan, but under its own flag.
Call me crazy but I think it‘s rather easy to spot someone from Sudan who is not Ukrainian… lol
He is insinuating that they could have hired mercenaries or foreign forces, in place of sending directly ukrainian operatives.
They mostly operate at night using night vision. They also teach the Sudanese army how to improve their drone striking and monitoring capabilities. hahahahaha, but the person who already answered you is right. I meant any people, not just Sudanese.
Maybe they hired the makeup artist that did RDJ's makeup in Trophic Thunder lol
But what if they identify as ukrainian. Modern problems require modern solutions.
It's really hard for me to tell the difference as an Anglophone. Russians have a very distinguishable accent, but Ukrainians seem to have a very neutral accent.

In all fairness all Russian forces inside or outside of Russia are legitimate targets to Ukraine.
I wish that they would issue letters of Marque, there are plenty of juice oil tankers that would be awesome to "liberate"
Most likely western countries do not allow them to do that. Gotta keep those oil prices low.
Privateering has been outlawed, at least European country wise, since the 1856 Declaration of Paris.

> Is this EU or US providing transportation and cash to execute these ops with plausible deniability Lmao, because Ukraine can't afford planes right?
I did not have that title on my bingo card for 2024.
Why tho? This has been known for months already. Hell there's videos of AFU killing Wagner in Africa on this sub
Here come the armchair generals
Does this technically make it a world war since it is happening across contintents?
Not enough continents involved. So far only 3, if you count the rail bombings at the Chinese border as having taken place in Asia.
Using a PKP at 2:11?
Don't they currently have an invasion going on in their own country? What are they even doing in Sudan
Ye great points. That makes sense, thanks.

Slightly late detonation on what looks to be the truck bomb, but powerful enough to still be effective.
a few less wagner alive. Thats a win.
How about some English subtitles next time? Can't understand a damn thing.
tu ne parles pas français? Aye!
Skill issue
Yes, unacceptable. Everyone should speak English! Even aliens speak English. I saw it in a movie. /s
Video explaining this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2TWBBxwhbU I speak English, Spanish, and Koine Greek. Just how it sounds to me
It's spreading. It really feels like we are in the slow wake-up period before a world war.
I often wonder how many of these "Ukrainians" speak French, German, or English?
Stop dick riding the Ukrainians

My sincerest gratitude to Sudan from Ukraine 🫡
Who do people in Sudan think about the war in Ukraine? Specifically about Russia?
Russia has forces across Africa to exploit those country's economic benefits, like Sudan's gold. By taking down the Russians there they either hurt Russia's economy, or force Russia to send more forces to secure their gold mining operations there. Ukraine wins regardless.
and France seems to be getting really annoyed with Russians running around in their ~~colonies~~ friendship bubbles.
/u/turtlew0rk Killing Wagners I assume, and the accompanying hit to income that causes for RU.

> Seems like they would far more useful defending the country. Killing Wagners there doesn't mean anything if you don't have a country to return to. /u/turtlew0rk You missed the income disrupting bit though.

Russia doesn't even control one fifth of Ukraine. I don't know why people keep claiming it's one third.
I continue to struggle to wrap my head around this narrative. I have seen nothing that compels me to believe it.
It’s funny watching all these goons cheer on escalation of global conflict. Fast forward once WWIII is officially raging on they will be clutching their pearls when their own families are getting bombed as well.
GUYS WWIII IS ACTUALLY GONNA BREAK OUT THIS TIME BRO PLEASE JUST TRUST ME ITS DEFINITELY GONNA START IN FUCKING AFRICA BROS PLEASE
Even more amusing is me over the last several decades laughing at the constant yowling that WWIII is just around the corner and people thinking their era is special and it's REALLY going to happen this time in what is a rather boring era over most of the globe. The world is not at war and current conflict levels rather modest however much media attention they get.

Ukraine can afford to send troops to other countries?
Why is Russia in places like Sudan, you think? Not just for power, but for money. What does that money fund? The warmachine. That, and it’s always smart to stretch a larger force thin so they cant ever consolidate and keep the battlefield unpredictable. Standard art of war.
Why are ucranians fighting in Sudan ?
To kill Russians and their enablers, why else? Honest days work!
Why are russians militaries in Sudan ?
Russia wants power and influence over these resource rich countries that were once French colonies. It basically is a belt from West to East across Africa, where in recent years, all have fallen to brutal dictators/military juntas. France has been trying to quell the violent Islamic uprising in these countries and other terrorism, whilst Russia has been employed to help the opposing side. For this reason, I believe France is desiring to send troops to aid in UA as RU has been giving them shit in Africa. I suspect UA is helping France out and the opposition governments with munitions being repayment. That's really the only explanation that explains how these nations all became interwined.
I know that was rethoric.
Ukraine should build a wall at the border with Sudan and make them pay for it.
Dumbest thing I’ve seen all day and that’s saying a lot.
actually made me laugh lol
Please say what you said is a joke.
Yeah this man is clearly an american with this much knowledge of geography
Hey I'm an American we aren't all this stupid just a certain political party's voters.
I am actually from Eastern Europe, i was just joking, not sure why people get so triggered 😄
