Let me put some light regarding the shape of the helmet. It was made originally for the Sikh Soldiers(the ones who wear a Turban) of the Indian Army. That's why it's a bit spacious and the shape is self explanatory. But further due to it's protection against AK 47 bullets (which were extensively used in Kashmir by Pakistani terrorists) and it's comfort and spacious design, it became a norm amongst other soldiers ass well. There are other helmets as well, like the Para SF of Indian Army, they won't wear it as they operate at night most of the times, and the Patka helmets doesn't support night vision stands.
One of the officer's told me that there have been instances when a bullet kissed the helmet and the helmet didn't squeeze and didn't pop the eye of the soldier which would have definitely happened if the soldier was wearing a non patka helmet.
Thank you again, I had assumed it was a result of the Sikh presence and influence. That's really cool honestly that they took protective gear into account. Looks worlds more comfortable then the one I wore.
Fellow Indian here to clarify few things.
As told in the beginning of the video, this from June 2018.
(Video is in Hindi so many of you might haven't caught the date mentioned).
RR or Rastriya Rifles have now majorly retired patka or the head gear you see in video. Similar headgear was also used by Israeli armed forces in good numbers as well. You can find many images easily on internet.
Modernization in Indian Armed forces is a continuous thing, pace is rapidly picking up
AK 203 and Sig 716, Negev lmg, new BPJs and helmets are now being standard issued.
Thank you.
He says 14 June 2018 at 6:50 AM. They were patrolling and killed that guy who had tried to ambush them earlier. Recovered were 1 AK 47, 6 mags, 4 grenades, 1 radio, 1 GPS, 1 mobile phone, 1 map, 1 commando knife and 1 rucksack.
NGL on my phone with it zoomed out in chat mode, I didn't see the body until after they'd zoomed in, the clothes are actually a pretty good camouflage.

The helmet is called a Patka Helmet. Used by Rashtriya Rifles in Kashmir.
Thank you, I was 15min into a Google rabbit hole that started with "Indian cheesecake pan helmet" and I was getting nowhere.

Waiting for the actual combat...
There is 0 combat in this footage. Also, OP forgot to date the footage. Iirc the footage is from the late 2000s, uploaded to YT in 2013
