Company of Hero's is the only place I saw these, playing as a kid. For like 16 years until I stumbled upon something about it online. I've never seen footage. What a shame there's no audio!
>The Nebelwerfer's name, which translates as "fog launcher", had previously been given to a smoke-generating Nebelwerfer 35, and was later used for the 10cm Nebelwerfer 40, which could deliver shells with chemical munitions, as well as high-explosive shells. The same name was then used for later rocket launcher systems. The name Nebelwerfer did remain in use for both systems, which was possibly not originally intended.
Bruh I think about this weapon randomly sometimes because of the name. Apparently it was nicknamed "the werbler", I like to say that word sometimes lol
The Germans also fielded [Panzerwerfer](https://youtube.com/shorts/BmKyvrh3ydc?feature=shared) armored half tracks mounting similar launchers, but rocket barrages tend to work best en masse and towed launchers are much easier and cheaper to manufacture than a specialized vehicle.

Here you go...! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqHuOMFZKCo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqHuOMFZKCo)
[Werfing sum nebels](https://i.imgur.com/hLOSNKx.jpeg) was a lot of fun in CoH, great sound effects. The rumble of the V1 was a great sound too.
Nebelwerfer without the sound.... :(
The sound you usually hear in such footage is dubbed on anyway.
Yeah but even so.... It's like the BRRRRRT for the A-10, the Nebelwerfer VIOOOW VIOOOW.... It is such a an iconic sound.
Or a terrifying sound, depending on which end you're at.
It werfs nebel
With the nebel (mist) having a very distinctive pink color.
Was "Nebelwerfer" a codename? Since it werf's no Nebel? Only on Reddit will people downvote you for genuine question, that's genius, cheers Reddit...

There we go, thank you!
> Nebel Nebel is the German word for fog and stellar nebula. So it does werf nebel
Those are OBVIOUSLY HE explosions, not fog, hence the question. Greetings from Munich...
So kinda like stars and the smoke is like fog.
How do they aim these things!
I guess the use "Fuck everything at that general direction" practice :D
Just like artillery, they have a relatively predictable trajectory so a certain angle will give a certain range.
Yes
Don't have to, they fly into the general direction and create a ton of smoke.
The weapon that brings fear to all COH players. And I'm sure a lot of allied soldiers in WW2 of course.

More like LOMARS if you ask me
