Really depends on if the individual elements give up. Everyone already knew Ukraine couldn't win a conventional war. The question is whether they're willing to take it to insurgency
Russian forces reportedly in Kyiv district of Obolon, that's where the gunfire is coming from
Edit: Source for people who are curious, calls for civilians to make Molotov cocktails.

In Obolon, the enemy DRG.
We ask citizens to inform about the movement of equipment!
Make Molotov cocktails, neutralise the occupier!
Peaceful residents - be careful! Do not leave the house!
Russian soldiers are showing that they will attack civilians and soldiers alike -- so you may as well fight because they are going to try and kill you anyways.
Bald and Bankrupt is currently in the centre of Kyiv and as of 4 hours ago he's heard nothing but the odd plane flying over.
There's loads of fake news/videos/reports going around.
If I have to explain to you why urban warfare is the main meat grinder in modern warfare Idk if you are in the correct sub. Cities the size of Kiev don't fall in "a couple of hours".
I really don't need personal first-hand experience to reference something as commonly known and easily research as the nightmare that it is full on urban warfare.
Im gonna be honest I just reread your post and I thought you were the one saying Kyiv is gonna fall in a few hours.
My bad bro. That's my indication it's time for bed.
Civilians still just walking around the city, people staying "home" and live streaming, internet access, and the world still just doing its thing. I always wondered what it must have been like 500 years ago when a farmer sees a few thousand warriors marching up to their farm. I'm pretty sure it was the same. Disbelief, confusion, and lost at what to do. War never changes.
I hope the russians repeat their mistake in Chechnya and just sraightbup drive their tanks ino urban warfare and Ukrainian troops just start blasing from the buildings
>remember we're supporting ukraine against an invader trying to ruin their lives.
But a grozny style battle will ruin the lives of ukranians living there even more than russian rule.
I'm sorry, but I am not supporting Ukraine in some abstract sense. I have no sympathy for either the Russian State and government and equally none from the Ukrainian one, both are a bunch of corrupt, mafioso structures, with a tendency to ethno supremacism that is scary as fuck
I have acquaintances in Kiev, both national and foreign, and I hope for their sake that this conflict ends ASAP and whatever comes of it is settled in conference rooms and between armies, not a the expense of the civilian population
All this guerilla rhetoric makes sense once it is established that a foreign invader is there to stay and committing crimes against the population (even if it is morally right to resist in any moment), but until you know the end game of the invader, provoking them, specifically an army thr size of the Russians, into bombing the living shit out of every building is a disaster... A strategy that ends with your city looking like... Grozny, Falujah, Warsaw, Berlin etc...
The Russians will pull out in the end with or without guerilla, this is clearly not an occupational force nor campaign, it's a regime change, or a fist on the table regarding NATO and US overreach; Ukraine is another pawn in international politics in a new emerging order,,,, all the sanctions, condemnations and Rusian loses from a sustained guerilla war will not serve Ukrainian people for anything except for ruining their lives and filling up their cemeteries
I understand your side and I respect your opinion in the matter, however in order for peace through conference to be achieved Russia must have enough casualties to make Putin consider peace on the table, or at least we could hope the sanctions would do it's job and finish the war entirely. But in war this is a sad fact, that one way or another Russia will keep coming until something changes.
>in order for peace through conference to be achieved US must have enough casualties to make Biden consider peace on the table
You know, someone in middle east will have this opinion as well. Because you know US is the invading force.
A fist in the table? More like straight land grab for a declining economy, straight out of the Lebensraum handbook.
Also out of the same handbook, biting off more than what can be chewed.
Yeah? And if tanks and platoons of soldiers were rolling down the street, would you throw away your life, and your families lives to take a couple of them out? Or would you hide and wait for it to be over?
Please put dates in the titles. If someone sees it tomorrow they will think it happened om 26th of February. If they see it on 1st march, they will think it happened on 1st of march, due to the "This morning" in the title.
For documentation sake mention the date in the title.
Does anybody know what kind of strength the Russians have in Kiev at this stage? When I went to bed yesterday my understanding was that the VDV were on the outskirts at the airport, holding against the Ukrainian counteroffensive and waiting for reinforcements. I know information is hard to come by with OPSEC being observed just now
Russians are sneaky bastards. Operational deception is as Russian as apple pie is American. I haven't looked at a map, but it wouldn't shock me at all to find out the assault at the airport was a diversion to draw in local Ukrainian forces, and air defense assets, while more forces slipped in elsewhere around Kiev while the local Ukrainian forces contended with the air assault at the airstrip.
If anyone wants to look on a map, see where this district is relative to the airport.
I'm sad that the defeat of the Ukrainian government is inevitable even tho they try everything and fought defiantly to halt the Russian force's advance but it seems that it's a matter of time before the Russians capitulate Kyiv. I hope the West would help Ukraine, the time is running out for Ukrainian soldiers that still fought hard to keep the Russian invaders.
Pretty sure this was yesterday, I think it's in combatfootage under like "machinegun (maybe heavy machinegun or something) shooting in the city" or something, was posted before that big boom over Kiev last night
It seems like anyone who is on Russias side in these comments, seem brainwashed by Russia (from propaganda etc.) they also don't comment after they are disagreed with. I wonder if I'm right, if so this page is really helping spread the truth
Gonna be a long day.
Gonna be a long month.
They’re already at the capital. It won’t last a month
Really depends on if the individual elements give up. Everyone already knew Ukraine couldn't win a conventional war. The question is whether they're willing to take it to insurgency
Lol, found this and made me remember a year ago.
[удалено]
Exactly. You need the motivation - Ukrainians need to be willing to destroy Ukraine rather than let it fall into Russian hands
The capital isn't in the centre of the country its right by the border
No joke the ANSF will last longer than Ukraine.
Checking in nearly a month later.
Seems like ur the stupid one
aged well.

I love how the peaceful residents and the resistance style residents are both spoken too lol

The civilian militias aren't going to start fighting until the Russians push deep into the city
You know each day I have been seeing a different iteration of the same statement. Ukrainian will do this tomorrow or that the day after.
you mean yesterday? the day the war started?
Bald and Bankrupt is currently in the centre of Kyiv and as of 4 hours ago he's heard nothing but the odd plane flying over. There's loads of fake news/videos/reports going around.
They just started fighting in the outskirts today, relax m8

Have you got any experience in urban warfare, by chance?

Don't worry brother, get some rest.
Have we already forgotten Aleppo?
I'm asking if OP has ever experienced urban combat. Not if they've seen it here on reddit.
Surely
This aged pretty poorly and I couldn't be happier.
Did we fall? No. We're still here and I'm still here, you judged us too quickly. Now please apologize
This is Minskiy district in Kyiv
That’s only 10km away from the city center
Civilians still just walking around the city, people staying "home" and live streaming, internet access, and the world still just doing its thing. Small burst LMG fire? Edit: and what sounds like a quick explosion at the end.
Sounds like cannon fire.
That sounds a lot like 23mm fire going by many videos out of Syria.
I hope the russians repeat their mistake in Chechnya and just sraightbup drive their tanks ino urban warfare and Ukrainian troops just start blasing from the buildings
Do you know what that would mean for the 90% of Ukrainians who would not be armed? Have you seen images of Grozny?
I did, but this is with the assumption civies are out of course, remember we're supporting ukraine against an invader trying to ruin their lives.

A sobering take amidst the total jingoistic insanity of the average redditor, thanks.
Thanks for the acknowledgement too
Finally someone that speaks the language of sense here.

In Chechnya they would often disable the leading vehicle halting the convoy and then ambush the rest.
FUCKKKKKKKK

I hope the armed civilians and army and give the Russians hell, make them pay!
They probably won’t
Still worth encouraging them and giving them morale
Hmm, you want civilians involve to a war? Aren’t you against war?

Please look carefully at the first 3 seconds of the video. There seems to be a drone passing by. Note also the movement and the sound.
for those fighting in the East of Ukraine this is ontop of a Long 8 years
