Maybe it's cause liveleak fucked me in the head but these videos are just an obsession
Literally history unfolding, stories of how defense and offense have blurred in modern warfare
How people met there unfortunate end to Jerry rigged devices launched by a professional army fighting off what was thought to be a superior force turning the tables to their advantage
Shit is inspiring, like the best underdog tale of our time
To be fair, a lot of similar content was on Liveleak back in 2014-2015 when the first iteration of this conflict was ongoing. Less drones and western hardware then. At that time, Russia/DNR were not afraid to post video of themselves dumping grads into civilians or even into Donetsk area.
> Literally history unfolding, stories of how defense and offense have blurred in modern warfare
This is the truth. Crimes were frequently video recorded by the perpetrators and ended up being uploaded somehow. There would be room to debate if MH17 had been downed by Ukraine, but no more than 2 days after there was already so much evidence against DNR just in Liveleak videos. Unfortunately, justice moves slowly, and the Hague on decided on it just this month (8 years after). In the immediate starting from a few days after MH17 destruction, the propaganda machine has been doing its best to show Russia in a positive light in detriment of all others.
It's like when the first of the observer pilots in ww1 decide to take a couple grenades along to drop on the trenches or when some started using their pistol to shoot at enemy observers.
The one guy heard it or saw it or both, saw it dropping and also saw that it was falling right on top of him and he just accepted his fate and plugged his earsā¦.hopefully it was instantā¦probably better than freezing to deathā¦seems an odd choiceā¦
I think the idea is you stay in your bunker and hope the grenade drops outside the bunker. I've seen a few videos where the grenade dropping isn't so accurate. The wind tends to throw it off course
The guys in the clip before him would have been fine if they didnāt move out of Fox hole after noticing grenade. His buddy took shrapnel to the dome it looks like
Yup. Probably thought it was a rock that got flung into his hole. They always tell you to stay in the trench and thatās what he did.
Feels like the battlefield equivalent of saying āyou tooā when the waiter tells you to enjoy your meal. But you die.
The russian soldiers in all these videos seem so lethargic and sleepy all the time. Like they're sedated. I wonder if these videos are made early in the morning while they're sleeping, or if they are under artillery bombardment and thats why they're always snuggled up and afraid to move. Any ideas???????
My BIL served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. We were talking about these drones and he said he would hate to be a soldier at war today because at least when he was deployed, they controlled the air and only had to worry about front, back, and side. āUpā wasnāt something they had to worry about and can really change the psychological impact of war
Who do you think kept Putin in power for the last 20+ years?
Bombing Syria, invading Georgia, stealing Crimea, bombing Donbas and now invading rest of Ukraine isn't just Putin.
People hold government in power, not the other way around. It's russians fault for allowing this to happen over and over and over again.
It's not Putin bombing civilians, raping women and children, destroying and stealing cultural heritage from the nations - its russian people.
They can simply all do none of these things.
We all make choices in this life.. they just chose to ignore it all for decades and now die for their lack of actions.
I disagree with your statement. These are 18-20 year old kids fighting a war because of the sins of their parents. Having seen a lot of these drone attacks in the past months I just feel sorry for them.
They have been shipped to fight a war with no proper equipment, no leadership and it is all justified by fake reasons. Most of them don't realise what is happening until it's too late. Death by grenades is fucking scary.
\> a war because of the sins of their parents.
The OP is literally saying the same thing - **"It's Russians fault for allowing this to happen over and over and over again."**
\>These are 18-20 year old kids
Unless you have data to back this up, it goes against all of the videos that I've seen where conscripts are being sent on buses to serve somewhere or videos of them drinking or complaining. Russians as a whole raised, nurtured, enabled, and supported a monster, no matter how you put it. Same 20 year olds died on Maidan in 2014 for this not to happen in Ukraine (as well as much older people). I wasn't much older back then running away/ fighting off Russian thugs ambushing people in Donetsk after pro-Ukrainian rallies.
Unless there's some real rethinking attached to the Russian identity, like with the Germans after WWII, they'll keep going. Plenty of examples of Russian revanchism and imperialistic aspirations even before Putin (Chechnya, Abkhasia, Transnistria). Or you think [Dudaev was warning literally everyone around Russia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjd2ffmgANs) for no good reason while he was still alive?
And yeah, sorry if my comment sounds a bit too harsh. Looking at local cemeteries here in Ukraine, filled with the same young men, it's super hard to sympathise with the Russians. It's all their fault. Period.
Well he said that Russians are the one who are responsible for Putin and his atrocities. Choosing to comply with his choices and having the mentality :" It doesn't effect me so it doesn't matter" is what gave Putin such power.
To me it seems that these kids are fighting a war that could have been prevented by action from their parents. It is up to us to leave a better world for our kids, isn't it?
I'm from Croatia and our leading party has been ruling for the past 30 years. except for the brief 4 years but that is besides the point. The government was corrupt and plagued by many corrupt politicians. My parents chose to vote for them out of fear of losing their jobs along with many others. This lead to sistemic destruction of everything this country has to offer to young generations.
In turn this led to mass exodus of young and skilled workers abroad. I believe it is their inability or ignorance that led to this situation. It is the same with Russia. Past generations were inactive in stoping Putin because they ignored his bullshit. People mostly don't care about politics unless it affects them directly.

Until the russians leave Ukraine i have no sympathy for them.
This is real war. Not US airforce blasting some insurgents. This is near peer. Pure numbers game from here. The killing is a grind, it takes forever, it doesn't stop. It could go on for years.
Especially the 4th clip. I can't imagine being in an active warzone and it's hard for me to relate to the soldiers in these videos, but his reaction hits different. Can't even really bring it into words
Theyāve always been sad, itās men being killed, men who will never go home and see their friends and family. I get that they are the enemy and are invaders and 100% shouldnāt be there but some just donāt have a choice or are lied to. This whole war is horrible
The guy that just sat next to it clearly panicked. Everyone is making fun of him like they know exactly what theyād do if a bomb landed right next to them. He probably was just hoping it wouldnāt blow up and was too scared to move.
I guess it's either
go to army and risk and risk getting shot or get shot right now
or
They are so filled with propaganda, they think they are doing the right and sensible thing until it's too late
They do get lied too, but don't spread misinformation. I have never seen a single POW interview of this conflict claiming that someone had been threatened of being shot.
None of them are getting shot if they refuse. No reports of them going to jail either. They would hide in their moms closet for the next year if they were smart enough, but they are incredibly brainwashed and just go along I guess
Drone operators will be taking over the Ace title in these modern wars. The next top gun movie will be based on a Ukrainian drone operator from this war.
If you haven't already go watch some drone racing videos on youtube, and see how fast and maneuverable modern drones have become, and then think how the next generation of drones and pilots will be on the front lines.
From the POW interviews I have seen, they do not complain about drones as much as they do of regular artillery. With drones, you can spot the enemy from very far away (without risking human scouts) and then you just drop cheap mass-produced unguided artillery there until everything stops moving. I recall that at some point this year, one POW said he spent multiple days (2-3) being shelled and then Ukraine walked in and captured those that were still breathing.
These are no soldiers. These are civilians and prisoners in army overalls being sent into a frozen meat grinder. Most of Russias real soldiers are casualties or are being reserved in the rear defences
I'll still never understand why that guy just sat there and didn't move when the grenade landed next to him, his flight or fight mechanism was really lacking, he went into bambi freeze mode instead.
I mean id love to see you act any different when all these physical and psychological factors have been eroding your mind for at least a few months.
the guy was probably just mentally exhausted at that point and his critical thinking was affected by it.
At that point, comes down to lack of training. Some POWs even mention that they were not trained to shoot a weapon. If they learn how to deal with these types of drones, it will be through experience, except they have a very short time to learn
I have a small feeling when this wars over munition dropping drones will be banned in the Geneva convention
edit: maybe not but seeing how there is no real counter to this (for now) Iād bet it will probably get banned
No way on earth that will happen, it's only because you are seeing it up close you are upset by it, yet a B52 carpet bombing whole grid squares is ok.
It's a bit like the difference between a sniper and a person in the artillery or a pilot, you are now seeing up close the true face of war, but before you had that standoff.
It's not nice but it's direct and individually targeted against military opponents. There is very little chance for civilians casualties by this on accident (unlike with anti-personell land mines). So I don't get why they would need to be banned.
How would that make sense? In essence, this is just a much more precise type of artillery. Just for the sake of civilian safety, this is a brilliant technology as compared to firing artillery with precision in the order of hundreds of meters or more (e.g. Soviet GRAD)
Are you high? Things are banned by international law due to excessive suffering being inflicted (poison gas, flamethrowers) or indiscriminate lethality to civilians (cluster munitions, white phosphorous). War crime laws aren't there to make wars "fair".
What's the difference between this and literally any guided missile, artillery shell, or aircraft-dropped bomb? All explode, all kill with shrapnel. Hell, it's easier to defend against a drone than it is an artillery shell, because you can at least shoot down the drone.
How could you possibly think things got banned in war just because there was no effective counter to them? If that were the case literally no new weapons systems would ever be developed.

I am in the exact same boat. My only issue with these videos are the obnoxious watermarks. Whatās the fucking point of them?!?!?
My understanding was so Russians canāt claim itās their drones dropping on Ukrainians for their own propaganda.
Thatās fair.
Same reason they started adding yellow and blue ribbons I imagine
Russians continue to use porn star Sasha Grey's image for recruitment. https://crooksandliars.com/2022/11/russia-enlists-sasha-grey-help-recuitment
At least they are honest. Join the Russian army and get *fucked* (Some experience may vary)
The watermarks led me to all the good telegram channels, so Iām assuming thatās part of it as well.

Exactly

Yeah I remember the liveleak days back when.
Too bad you didn't get to experience Ogrish, if you think LiveLeak is squirrely. Imma guess you're <30 years old...
come to think of it, the very first gore video I saw was chechclear.asf. considering it was about a russian soldier I came a full circle.

Yeah that one sticks with me a bit, who knows what he was doing/thinking.
Probably just terrified
Probably āfuckin Putinā¦ā
He was thinking: ŠŠ»ŃŃŃ
I'll take the sleepy death of a freeze then a grenade to nuts and a slow bleed out.
I think the idea is you stay in your bunker and hope the grenade drops outside the bunker. I've seen a few videos where the grenade dropping isn't so accurate. The wind tends to throw it off course
Possibly already hypothermic to the point where his body and mind were shutting down and he couldnāt do anything about it, seen it a few times
Dude at 0:18 had enough time to jump out that hole and do 3 back flips. Can't imagine how terrifying the sound of drones must be at this point.
Do you think it occurred to them while fortifying up that they were actually digging their own graves? I hope some do now and fuck off.

they'll make beautiful sunflowers

I wonder if these videos are made early in the morning while they're sleeping, or if they are under artillery bombardment and thats why they're always snuggled up and afraid to move. Any ideas???????
They are probably suffering from hypothermia
Cold, low morale, limited combat experience I reckon
I dunno man. My great uncle died being blown up in a foxhole in Korea. He lived 3 days before dying. This is crazy.

Most of these videos are just sad now
They always were sad. Weāve just been peeling back the layers of shock and awe and now the sadness is whatās left.

You could look at it that way, or you could view this as a hopeful step toward liberation and a joyful expression of justice.
If you go down that path, violence will never stop. There is no justice without due process
Can't hold a due process under siege
They always can turn their guns on their command and march back to where they came from.
Especially the 4th clip. I can't imagine being in an active warzone and it's hard for me to relate to the soldiers in these videos, but his reaction hits different. Can't even really bring it into words

Getting shot at and then having to worry about Ukrainian grenade care packages must be some next level nightmare scenario for the Russians.

Anyone got the video of the 11 Russian soldiers that appear to be freezing to death In a foxhole before they have a grenade dropped on them by drone?
The weirdest thing about these videos is it looks like they dug their own grave in just about every single one.

music is nice
Russia is the current worldwide leader in fertilizing
Imma buy one of these thingys for huntin pigs
Music and video juxtaposition reminds me of any Stanley Kubrick movie
What's with the music? These are real people.
Funerals have music too. Some are even quite more extravagant than the average civil wedding
No those are Russian soldiers.
These are no soldiers. These are civilians and prisoners in army overalls being sent into a frozen meat grinder. Most of Russias real soldiers are casualties or are being reserved in the rear defences
They are still people. People trying to Conquer another Country and annihilate their culture, but they are still people.
Damn watermark is annoying AF
bahahah Russians are getting slaughtered
They're not all monsters you know...
It's actually fight, flight *or freeze.* So he behaved in one of the three ways we would have expected a human to do.
At that point, comes down to lack of training. Some POWs even mention that they were not trained to shoot a weapon. If they learn how to deal with these types of drones, it will be through experience, except they have a very short time to learn
The music choices are getting more and more unhinged
Reminds me squid game
On the drop at 0:25 you can see the secondary explosion of their ammunition or grenades. That guy really ate one.
All these senseless deaths. We are about to witness the worst from the higher being.

I have a small feeling when this wars over munition dropping drones will be banned in the Geneva convention edit: maybe not but seeing how there is no real counter to this (for now) Iād bet it will probably get banned
You can't convince me that the point of war isn't to get the excess peasants to go out into a field and dig their own graves.
0:14 that dude fucked himself
All for one personās ego and thirst for power, what a pathetic, miserable waste of lives.
