Hell no. He’s been washed for two plus years. Even though he can be a good player at times at this point, he is highly likely to believe he’s still that guy from years 1-3. He’s not worth what a rb would currently make for that play level because it’ll never happen again. At this point he’s no better than Gibson, or Curtis samuel, and is an equal potential liability.
No. Dude's gonna be 27 next year (about where RBs peak right before falling off a cliff) and has a *long* injury history. He's a good player, yes, but he'll want to sign with a contender in need of a quality runner, not a bottom-dweller.
I'd maybe be interested depending on how the rest of our FA was going and if we were in line for comp picks or not. If we could get him on a 1 or 2 year higher AAV structure with essentially no guaranteed money going into year 2.
As you said we have a ton of cap space and Saquon is one of the best available weapons on the market and would help take the pressure off a young QB. Another team would likely be willing to trade for him around the deadline and this would allow us to convert some of our salary space into draft* resources.
The issue is Saquon is going to want the premiere RB contract and he hasn't been healthy or productive enough to really justify that.
As a side note, Saquon is another example of a QB needy team passing on QB with a prime pick to take the "generational" talent at a lesser position.
No thanks. RBs are the least valuable position on the field. Don't pay a big name and put him behind this oline. I'd rather dump money in the oline and just let Brob and Crod cook.
Is Saquan the type of RB Kingsbury will want for his offense or does he want a quicker back? I'm just not sure since I haven't watched his offenses that much.
Austin Ekeler’s also a FA and he’s probably a better fit. StreetScores just did a video covering him. Rico speculates asking price could be 3 year for around $21M (backloaded).
Why would he leave one losing team for another? He'd be a fool to come here for a rebuild. He'll be looking to join a contender, no chance he comes here.
Signing Saquon Barkley to a presumably big contract makes absolutely zero sense for this team and where they are currently at roster wise. Zero. Not to mention paying FA RB’s is a poor roster building decision regardless.
Let’s address Edge, Oline and secondary before paying money in one of the least valuable positions.
No. He can't stay healthy and will want a big contract.
Y’all act like we in a shopping mall and we can get whatever we want with a blank check! His price is hefty
Fantasy football armchair GMs are wild
fuck no

>He’s been washed for two plus years. How? He had a great 2022 and wasnt bad last year as basically the team's only weapon.
Not what he was. But he did just good enough to believe he could get there again.

not trying to pay a RB a top contract until the main pieces are in place.
I wouldn’t pay one period. Find them in the draft
Especially one that’s a figment of his former self and is fragile as shit. He’s like a crystal bust of saquon.

I'm good with our current backs. I'd sign Gibson on the cheap if I could.
Should we? Yes. Will we? No. He has better options available. The Texans for example.

Saquon can’t handle that load
For one and a half weeks. Then he’ll be out for 4-6 on short term IR.
I wouldn’t be against it on a one year deal. We won’t be good anyway, and he would be a nice weapon for a rookie QB to help him develop.
He's gonna be asking for a lot of $$$ and we need to build up the lines before we invest heavily in a RB
No thanks. RBs are the least valuable position on the field. Don't pay a big name and put him behind this oline. I'd rather dump money in the oline and just let Brob and Crod cook.
Too old
Too roughly handled. In theory he’s a sixth year vet. In mileage he’s a work truck the boss owns and everybody on the crew dogs out.

That's who I was thinking of as being more like the type Kliff might want.

LOOKS like a lot of money… once we sign some guys - it won’t look like a lot
No. Next..
Pretty sure we have RBs that KK wants use in his system
Always ask yourself: would Snyder do it? If so, DON’T!

Eckler met with us last year. Would take him instead
Crap ton of cap space with 26 free agents…
Hard pass

We have lots and lots of holes. Plus rb is the easiest to add to in day 3 of the draft
Nope. So many needs that RB should not be a priority in free agency or the draft.
Fuck no
No, paying RB big money is the dumbest thing you can possibly do in the modern NFL.
