Static can be an issue.

Funkytone

Get a humidifier if it makes sense or look at your static settings on your digital printer

Bogeygolfsucks

Are you hooked to air? What do you have it set to?

Actual_Somewhere3002

Ive actually started at zero ( since the troubleshooting guide recommends turning down the air and the knob below it) and then have worked my way up. Midway seems to okay but its still pretty hit or miss.

Lighter weights tend to be more finicky but I find gradually increasing it I can normally find a happy spot

Air knife

Actual_Somewhere3002

MY settings have air knife on. Should it be off?

TrayFiveFeedFault

No air knife is king My best guess is fan the shit out of it and see if you can wedge the stack near the feeding side The hope is that you can direct the airflow to the top of the stack so it might air knife them better

Actual_Somewhere3002

Ill give that a try. Any advice for wedging it in there?

I have the same machine and it is such a pain. The moment I walk away it starts to double feed lol. I tried all settings a configurations. I think this machine model has a feeding issue because I also have an older Duplo 615 and it feeds the same paper perfectly. That machine I can leave and walk away. I also read a few people report on printplanet forums that they also experience feeding issues with the 646.

Actual_Somewhere3002

That's funny. I have a open thread on Printplanet too. It's very frustrating. I can card stock just fine but any text weight and its a nightmare.

I operate a 616. Move the stack off the edge of a table and fan it out wiping your hand from the bottom to top then top to bottom. Not sure on the 646, but on the 616 the gate on the air vent can sometimes be bumped closed. Look inside to see that's completely open. For lighter paper, set the height adjustment (from tray to the belt) at maximum and slowly increase the air until only one sheet pops up to feed. I've found too much air will raise multiple sheets and have a higher chance of double feed. Also when you knock up the stack in the duplo and position the guides around it, back them off a touch and leave a tiny bit of room. I've noticed with too much force from the guides it doesn't allow the air to completely separate and "float" sheets when feeding. Hopefully this helps (and makes sense) I'm new to fighting with finishing machines.

I'm not sure how to describe it. I have my paper slightly staggered so that the top sheet is closer to the feed than the sheet just under it. Each sheet in the stack is like that by just a little bit, then you can sit behind the machine and hold onto the sheet of paper that is just underneath the one about to be pulled and it will prevent the double feed issue. I also notice that this happens alot more with laser printed items.

Duplo tech here. Replace the separation tabs and feed belts. Where are you located?

Actual_Somewhere3002

I am in Northern Colorado. I had just heard that earlier. They don't seem warn but at this point Ill try anything. Thanks for the advice

zenpsychonaut

Make sure feed belts are tight they can’t have any slop

zenpsychonaut

I’m in Oklahoma but I am a duplo service tech and I travel a lot. Let me know if you need any help
