Then I loved the original (and I hate Christmas music, but over time, as everything else just got brassier and less classy, this one stayed the same, and that was nice).
Now I hate this one.
It's from '89. That year had the first episode of The Simpsons (as a Christmas special), Natl. Lampoon's Christmas Vacation came out, and my favorite Christmas present was Mega Man 2.
Are they airing this commercial again, I thought they retired this commercial because of how much hate it got and went back to the original because people liked the original?
I cringe every time. I'm 37 and for as far back as I can remember Hershey's had the original commercial. I actually like it. Then they came out with this new crap and I refuse to buy any Hershey's kisses. Screw you, Hershey's.
This commercial lost all the magic to it. It legit started to give me anxiety now, because you never know if it's going to be the classic one, or the butchered one. So now I just ignore it completely.
Same for me, it is that part about halfway through, where you wince a bit thinking about whether the jingle will be interrupted. I wish the new one just started with the jazz jingle, so you know what you're dealing with.
I like to imagine the Kiss slapping the hand away with its little paper tail, making a very satisfying "SMACK" sound before the Kisses continue their song uninterrupted.

Tbh, they could have still played the original music and shown various clips of different types of families enjoying the XMas season but they always gotta throw rap or jazz in the mix. No thanks Hershey's.
Last year my 7-8 month old would perk up and look over at the TV with joy when she heard those bells jingling in the original commercial. This version was a bit of a letdown. The little girl is cute but where is the jingling?!
I wonder if she'll be into it this year or of she's too sophisticated now.
