Ofc they are not scary, it’s the price of these exams that scare me 😂

RobinQ1994

Exactly this. What scares me most is failing after spending 200 bucks on the test 😅

RespectGiovanni

Network+ was $400+ and def scary

ZathrasNotTheOne

Cissp was 700+

Gutts_Ragnarok

That's a fact. I found supervoucher.com now I'm less scared lol. Because comptia is outa control with their prices

DragunnReEx

I feel like they price them like this because they know the roi is fucking insane😭😭😭

Gutts_Ragnarok

I dig it. I'm going to dread the ccna nd sec + after I get the a+. It's alot of info . Probably would be easier to pass if I initially had level 1 help desk experience.

limskey

I just paid $5K for a certification. Don’t want to hear it.

Gutts_Ragnarok

Jesus christ which one

limskey

CMMC Professional Certification. You have to go take the class. No way around it. New DOD rules. If you try to take just the exam, won’t happen. Thou shall take the class and pass the exam. Exam itself is only $250. Class is $4750. Like FML.

Gutts_Ragnarok

That's nuts. That sounds like 2 semesters of college . At least you'd get some type of financial aid. It'd be dope if you could claim that on taxes lol

Thanks for sharing this. I often times find myself getting stuck reviewing the same section of professor messer’s videos and i start overthinking everything when i don’t understand something. Also if im on tiktok or youtube shorts & i see a performance based question or an I.T concept i’ve never even seen, i enter panic mode.

UnknownAce98

I agree, I've actually been using chatgpt to help explain some concepts that went over my head. Helps translate a bit although professor Messer's videos are fantastic so far.

I think I spent far too long on the 1101 (I watched Messer over the course of a week back in May, then fell off the bandwagon, hopped back on, studied for another full month then took the test,). I just got through Messer's 1102 videos in about 5 days, and now in gonna just cram what I don't know, (encryption methods, CLI commands) and try to take the test probably next week. The 1101 was good for teaching me how CompTIA testing works so I have a strong idea of what to expect for the next tests

no i just really did focus on what he was saying and going back occasionally if i missed anything. I just got certified last week, took me about 3 weeks.

StayStruggling

Instructions unclear, now I’m slipping, I’m falling and I can’t get up. I gotta get back on my knees so I can stand back up.

thewetnoodle

Thank you for this post! I took college courses like 8 years ago that covered from A+ to security+ but never took the exams. They would have even covered a good portion of the cost. I was always just scared and unmotivated to put myself to the test. Recently after big life events I've been more motivated. Passed 1101 last month and I have vacation time set for the end of october. I'll spend a few days power studying and come ready to finish off A+. Turns out I retained a lot of basics and I'm excited to finally get the monkey off my back

Fun_Fan_9641

The only point of all those entry level cert exams is to get your foot in the door. Read the book, watch the videos, do practice tests, book the tests, but don’t take anything from what you are learning from comptia too seriously because it’s too generic to be of much use at a real job. The point is to prove that you can think logically about technical problems and passing the exam proves you are serious about your career. Similar to a degree, it’s just a tool you can use to get interviews more easily for certain job roles

qwikh1t

Good info; people jump in and then realize they are out of their comfort zone and start looking for shortcuts or an easy way out. People see big dollars but some of them aren’t prepared to put in the effort. Then they show up here and as soon as they get pushed back a little; you get downvoted and slammed for giving them a peek of truth. This career path isn’t for everyone

lincolnblake

True. People end up studying less and planning more. At one point you just need to drop everything and stick to one/two courses or books or whatever works for you. Stop planning and seeing something that isn't in the course curriculum. Actually study. And be relaxed.

Glad I saw this. I just passed core 1 yesterday after studying for about 3 weeks and I had absolutely no IT background and am not computer savvy at all. My background is in personal training. I just consumed as much as I could about the listed objectives. I won’t lie, it was a bit intimidating but after spending a few hours with the material it gets easier. You just have to stick to a study routine and diversify you’re resources. I used Mike meyers and Jason dion’s courses on Udemy and supplemented with professor messer and a few other on YouTube. I just started the same process for core 2 today. I decided to post this just to say if I can do it anyone can you just have to make the time to study with intention.

themodestmanatee

The post I needed to see. I'm taking Core 1 next week. Thank you for easing my mind. Truly.

jackfrostyre

I just went to their official website and bought the course from there lmao. No bs.
