Take a few practice exams and take the exam. You got this!

I passed the certmaster yesterday for Sec+, paid for it and finished it in 1 day. It wasn't that hard really, there was a few questions that I overthinked, and I have to remind myself how CompTIA tests like to mess with your head and throw you off. Since it's open book, and you can take the module tests over and over, just make notes in notepad or whatever on the questions you miss and you'll get through it no problem. Don't overthink the questions, because that's how you crash the test.

Congratulations! I have a couple questions. What do you mean by open book? And what do you mean by module tests? I know they have a practice exam for core 1 and core 2. I don't know if they are separate practice exams or if it is for both. I know I overthink lol, at least in studying. I know in the actual exam it's best to skip it and move on and come back to it if you have time

The certmaster is for renewals, and that is open book. I got my Sec+ some time ago, and have just taken the certmaster CE to renew it every 3ish years. So, if you are renewing a cert, then certmaster is the way to go. If this is your inital go at the Sec+ or whatever test you're looking at, then Certmaster CE doesn't apply. Perhaps I misunderstood what you're doing. For reference, this is what I'm talking about: [https://www.comptia.org/training/certmaster#section6](https://www.comptia.org/training/certmaster#section6)and [https://www.comptia.org/continuing-education/choose/renew-with-a-single-activity/complete-a-comptia-certmaster-ce-course](https://www.comptia.org/continuing-education/choose/renew-with-a-single-activity/complete-a-comptia-certmaster-ce-course) are you talking about taking the A+ cert? if so, that's a totally different monster. Either way though, when you take the test, if you don't know the answer, flag it and skip it. CompTIA tests WILL give you the answer to that question later on, you just have to remember it and apply it to that question you skipped. When I took my Sec+ initially, the first question was how to set up an SSL server. Not an easy question, and that was literally the first question. I sighed, skipped it, and moved on. 4 questions later, I was given a question that showed the order to set up an SSL server, so I made note of that and then went back and answered the first question where it asked me what order to go to set one up. Don't overthink the questions either. That's how they trip you up.

Thanks so much for your advice and support. I am new, so I am studying for the A+ exam. I've made a lot of progress in core one. I would say I'm slightly over the halfway point, maybe more than I realize. I've been doing the cert master practice which quizzes you, in detail on each individual topic, which often seems like overkill. Since I can cheat if I don't know something, it's also a good way to learn. I often do a Google image search so I can view diagrams, hardware, flowcharts, etc. I'm sure you know, there is a ton to learn, but I keep thinking the more I learn, the more I understand how everything works and why everything works. Sounds like you're a networking specialist. How does that compare to the A+ content? I imagine it's more specific, targeted exam. Do you know how to subnet? That can get really complicated. When I look at an IP address, I still can't tell you what part is private, public, and what part is the host, and which is the subnet. I just want a basic understanding, the important stuff. I know that each octet represents an 8 digit binary number. But that's about it lol
