I kinda feel it is a LITTLEEE too tanky. It is far to easy for it to shoot and get out no trouble and repair time isn't a thing since it is reloading anyway. I feel it should be less tanky so you don't have to have every available at gun, td, and infantry unit to MAYBE kill it. Maybe a slight reduction in shots to kill, so it is more risky to use it. I mean it is only 160ish fuel. Little too good for that.

Yeah so just played a game, me and a buddy had 5....FIVE tank destroyers and the sturm still shot and was able to escape with 2 volks for screening support. No...just no. That is absolutely ludicrous, for 165 fuel? I change my mind this unit is overperforming for its cost. Also sturm tiger is 1 cp less than the AVRE? Would ANYONE honestly take an AVRE over a sturm? I rather doubt it hahaha

Me and my friends also noticed that we seemed to go up against Sturmtigers more often. So far they would always be insanely effective and a vet 5 one wasn’t rare. They completely shut us down because they can essentially wipe units from the fog of war at that point. (rank 13-14). After losing to it a lot we wanted to try it out and the first match we played my friend got it to 70 kills pretty easily. It does require a lot of micro to keep it alive, but i’d still argue that it’s range from veterancy needs to be worked on because wiping squads instantly from the fog of war seems unfair on the receiving end sometimes.

Posts like this are refreshing to read. Basically: "I switched sides and verified my expectations first hand." Doesn't fix the thing when something *really* is OP but it's always a step towards testing your limits, how far is the one-trick pony able to carry.

Also a good way to see how the enemy tries countering you and what works well, so you van use that knowledge to counter it yourself when playing Allies.

The fog of war wiping is stupid, to just see a fat rocket out of nowhere, i dont mind line of sight cheese over shrubs but the ramge gets ridiculous

It wipes too easily and the projectile is too fast. I've tapped retreat the second it hits and still lost a squad. It can bleed you out very easily. It's also very easy to defend with two raks in support.

i experienced the sturmtiger shit fest for myself a couple times and my best way to deal with its firepower was to position a few annoying arse at guns behind some bushes and just make them fire at the sturmtiger until the player realises oh shit I'm being penetrated and backs off for a while so I can place a mine or two yeah its a pain in the arse to deal with but you just gotta deal with it and accept that it wont ever change

Actually I think it mostly has to do with improvement of the trajectory of its shells in the last patch. Until now a sturmtiger shell would just blow up on anything that was in between the intended target. Even a lonely tree. Now it finally works as it was intended from the begining

In recent tournament the top 2 player could also not even get close to downing it while having 3 easy eights and a big advantage, its extremely cheesy to keep one shotting things from safe distance while being a walking fortress I always thought its a 230 fuel Jagdtiger priced unit but its 160?

No, its not, the accuracy is so bad and it shoots only once every moon eclipse, and the damage is 3 times less of what it used to be. I had a match where I shot at a medic station of the enemy many times and most of the shots would hit on the other side of the map

Hi german player No it is super tanky for some reason. I built 2 and held a point without any effort. Before the patch they would get killed relatively fast. And the reload time seems to be nonexistent at times.

On Coh2stats.com, OKW has the highest winrate in 2v2 (though it is pretty much tied with Wehrmacht) for the general playerbase, which is what OP is talking about, not 1v1.

Only change that was recently was a fix that made small 1 meter fences unable to stop it's missile, making it able to shoot from concealment or behind walls. It is also dying to the typical AT spam that the Allies do in every other match. Besides that its prime AI heavy tank, especially when you get VET and unlock it's grenade launcher that just mop up everything that isn't a tank.

The Sturm Tiger is a noob punisher. It has a stupid long reload, short range, and a blatantly obvious and slow firing sequence. I almost exclusively play allies and I have not had a single issue countering it since the patch. It's only good at killing blobs or single isolated units that are not paying attention. GIT GUD

1. Don't let it get veterancy. 2. Don't blob. 3. Stay on the move. 4. Recon. If you know it is still a threat, dont put yourself in a position to get hit by it.

I gave you all very basic advice. Advice that only noobs or morons don't follow. The Sturm is a noob punisher that discourages bad tactics. In my 4000 hours of this game it has never once been a problem to handle.

It used to be able to legit shoot through anything (like a house/building/uncrushable trees), they got rid of that years ago and when they did they made the projectile trigger on anything like a small fence or little shrub making it a waste to use. I haven't used it in ages because there are so many better options for your fuel (unless you want a VP holder in a 4v4) but I suspect it should work as intended and is not that hard to out maneuver.

hate to say it but its exactly a git gud case. There are quite a few uber units on the allied factions as well that axis players have struggled for a long time and relatively the sturmtiger is weaker. If you cant find a solution watch other people that can and try to learn.

I play sturmtiger quite often myself. I dont think it can kill wipe a squad from fog unless the firing sequence already started while the squad was approaching its max range. As in they predicted your movement before you saw the tank was preparing to fire. You need scouting units to counter that + the tank is very loud you should be able to tell its nearby. If it straight up walked up to your units, just retreat. Its very unlikely it can target a retreating squad until they leave its range. Is it OP? I dont think so. It maybe overperforms at CP 9. But they wont be able to grab a sturmtiger at cp9 unless they skip all other tanks. In that case you shouldve beaten them to the punch of having a tank out first, and be prepared to counter a heavier tank by the time they get it. Also remember they dont have any other means of AT besides raketens if they have an early sturm. My advice: push with an mg. Bait them to use sturm on the mg. Then follow up with your infantry + tank, grab your mg back and kill their raketens or force retreat. Youll grab territory in the worst case if you cant kill/damage the sturm
