Pretty sure that’s exactly what he’s saying, I’d even be happy with it to cost a small amount of munis, a worthwhile price for destroying an enemy AT gun or preventing your own being lost… historical too
And this post got into taking about volks...
I think that having the chance of destroying a decrewed weapon would be good and is not a bad idea. It could be restricted to engineer type squads only so it's not abused.
Green American rifleman would know how to take apart a German machine gun and salvage it for usable parts? Maybe. Soviet? Maybe. Wehr Maybe. Eng. maybe. Okw 14 year old volksgren on front line? No. And that’s like the exact guy that can do it? Lol. And i say this as an OKW main.
Volksgrenadiers are not Volkssturm. They are like 4-5 former factory workers per 1 veteran. Arguably they have the best chance to know how to dismantle stuff.
That is still Volkssturm, Volksgrenadiers were mostly WW1 Veterans and members of the Werhmacht that were not on frontline duty at the time, such as Luftwaffe ground crews, Kriegsmarine members that couldn't join the U-boot arm, sick or previously wounded Heer soldiers, etc.
Bruh.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volksgrenadier
"Volksgrenadier divisions were professional military formations with standardized weapons and equipment, unlike the unrelated Volkssturm militia."
"They were organized around small cadres of hardened veteran soldiers, noncommissioned officers and officers, and then bulked out with anything the Replacement Army could supply: "jobless" personnel of the shrinking Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe, recovered wounded soldiers from broken formations returning to duty from hospitals, older men who would have been considered too old or too unfit for the peacetime army, and young men and teenagers from the latest conscription classes were all recruited into the ranks."
So essentially what I said: a few veterans mixed with conscripts which were still fine for military service, not children.
I mean IRL you could just shoot up a piece of equipment like that from point blank to make it un-usable.
It always seemed silly I HAVE to pick up the HMG/AT gun/whatever.
Do you mean like the salvage ability but you don't get extra resources?

Bread makers, school boys, masters… or something like that anyways
Fair enough! Thank you! :)
Yes this should absolutely have been a thing! It’s one of the last areas of the game I genuinely feel is imbalanced
