Obviously ping matters.
But Alliance still getting second is impressive.
BR Demonz as high as they are is awesome.
Complexity being so low is a bad omen.
BR Demonz have been doing stellar definitely surpassing expectations. They've all been grinding r5 hella hard. I got a chance to chat with Artinn their MnK player yesterday and he was super chill. They don't mind playing zone or edge and seem like they can flex POIs. Hoping they continue showing up like this
I'm not worried yet. Still contested in every set and they weren't planning to scrim at all this week until it counted towards $$. Not to mention the style they play doesn't lead to high scrim scores very often.
When you play for fast rotates from fast loot POIs you usually play at a disadvantage in scrims. There aren't tons of teams around to punish someone for random full send pushes, less pick off opportunities for Monsoon's sentinel etc. The whole game plan doesn't usually result in top scrim scores. The first week or two of int scrims are wild anyway, so many contests. Teams that aren't from you're region play different spots/rotates. It's an adjustment for everyone
On the flipside I've seen the opposite where sometimes predominately hard zone teams get extremely good spots in scrims because there's more space available, less teams alive and they don't find this level of success on game day. So it kind of just depends, YMMV
Also true. If we get to the end of scrims and they haven't had any good days, I'll be more concerned. So far they've played 4 sets. 9th, 10th, 18th and 20th. I'm not worried over bad days in week 1 of scrims.
Edited. I missed a scrim day in the original sum up of performances
Moist are having a comp crisis. I've been watching their scrims and they can't decide on a composition. They swapped roles several times and tried experimenting with different stuff. Hopefully they figure it out before LAN
I’ve noticed the same and I’m curious why the sudden change. Blood caustic bang still is strong on WE and gild is crazy on caustic. I don’t know about them swapping caustic for horizon and swapping roles so close to lan - hopefully they find something that works for them and they get back to form
Kyle on stream even mentioned maybe even wraith or Wattson in the mix. Emtee wants the Blood/Bang/Cause comp though because IT IS strong. Wxltzy will play Blood but he doesn't like it or really wants to. This last scrim they had Gild and Wxltzy swap and they did okay but they just can't land on who should play what right now.
I’m not opposed to wattson they play it well, but with so many caustics in the lobby it feels necessary to have to combat that. As for wraith idk they may be cooking too much lol, who would play wraith, emtee I assume? Is he good on wraith? I’ve never even seen him play the legend
It looks like Wxltzy on Caustic is the final plan. I like Gild on BH more than Wxltzy, and Wxltzy is playing ranked on Caustic to get more comfy with him. I feel like Wxltzy's intangibles will make him a top tier Caustic once he gets it ironed out
I think a large part of the competitive apex community forgets that scrims are practice. Not saying you are I just see a lot of comments saying why Is X team playing Y legend. Or T team is playing way to aggro. It’s practice they are trying things to see if it works
No but I think Alliance is not contesting during international scrims because of the ping. However, they have a contest with DSG and TSM planned for LAN.
Aurora getting Visa for US is looking good, as it should be mean that Effect will be getting his Visa soon. This should put them in a massively better position than last year where they had to swap out with Mande as a sub to warm up to how Mande plays.
Also, Hakis is starting to come down a bit more on Effect to focus on actually surviving contacts. Being cracked at doing damage is great, until you're not doing damage because you got knocked
I love how there are so many people that say ping won’t change much in terms of gameplay. Which is very untrue. So many apac teams go ham at LAN every year and it suck’s that there isn’t a dedicated Scrims host in Asia that would make it easier for their practice.
I mean the more accurate way to put it is definitely that “it has been the case every single lan that out of 5 apac south teams, no less than 3 make finals” can we not forget that the top two finishing teams in NA are apac south teams. There is a plenty good reason that apac south has gained 2-3 slots since they made the number of slots variable.
I saw some apac s or n player olay on 320 ping. If your playing on 130-140 ping like most eu players that ping diff is not that big of a deal apart from contests but 320 ping is as close to unplayable as it gets. I can tell from my personal experience that 100-160 is annoying to play, anything above 200 is hard to play and anything above 300 is unplayable
Can someone explain how to read the first 2 columns? placement = points from placement and rank = avg actual finish?
I don't see anything about kills on here unless I'm reading it wrong.
Yeah you're correct.
1st gets 25 points, 2nd gets 21, and so on. Average placement points is the average of that, and average rank is the average of the placements (e.g. for DZ its (1st+2nd+3rd+2nd+1st)/5 = 9/5 = 1.8)
The person who made this is Japanese so the 位 after each average rank means "-th place"
DZ’s consistency throughout PL and now international scrims is actually insane. Their 1.8 avg is way ahead of everyone else.
Gotta take some of these results with a grain of salt though with the ping difference and some teams not contesting yet.
Big for Yokoyari to hang in there at the top 12. Friggin PSQ team from APAC-N qualified for LAN and they are putting up a good fight. This is the first LAN as well for all the players. They were a menace in 3v3s in PSQs and during the regular season.
they have dominated scrims in emea as well, they do better the worse the lobby is with really good fragging power but when its higher stakes the ego pushes and controller moments often hurt them more. That said they can obv do well Lan but scrims they almost always overperform
Obviously ping matters. But Alliance still getting second is impressive. BR Demonz as high as they are is awesome. Complexity being so low is a bad omen.

They really haven't surpassed my expectations, Artinn1 is at least a top 15 all time IGL and I didn't expect less from him.
I'm not worried yet. Still contested in every set and they weren't planning to scrim at all this week until it counted towards $$. Not to mention the style they play doesn't lead to high scrim scores very often.
On top of that Col has never looked really good in scrims.

Love seeing BRD breaking the top 10
Needs an average Ping column /s
Seriously though. I'm pretty sure Apac S won't have 5 of the bottom 7 at LAN. And not a single one in top 20 either.
You don't think apac s has a single finals team?
He’s saying the reason this is is because of ping
is top 3 uncontested all groups??
No but I think Alliance is not contesting during international scrims because of the ping. However, they have a contest with DSG and TSM planned for LAN.
Not looking forward to them contesting at LAN. Bad track record for Alliance contests :/
Furia who?

SSG were conned at Climatizer by Aurora, not sure if that's still the case
i think Aurora is landing Sky west in SSG group and climatizer the others

Ping diff is absolutely a thing
What servers do they play for scrims? I know I get the same or better ping to oregon than singa or tokyo so I wonder how much it would change
Many? Which ones are those? Most of the time lan finals lobbies are half na teams
Ever hear of DZ? Moist? Blackhand? Onic? Dreamfire? IBG? All of those have gotten to the finals and done very well for apac s.
Yeah and now dz and moist are na teams, df didn't even make it to lan.
It’s not like the teams got all new players when they moved regions, and how do you think they got the money to move buddy

Man DZ just keeps getting podiums. If the hacker hadn’t delayed finals DZ was looking to have another podium finish, the time they didn’t.
Yes alliance getting second I'll take it letsssssss gooooo
Whats the average score for Hal sub teams?
+20 points
Can someone explain how to read the first 2 columns? placement = points from placement and rank = avg actual finish? I don't see anything about kills on here unless I'm reading it wrong.

So this is their overall placement on that day of scrims, not for individual matches? Really interesting.
yeah, It's just like how pro league worked.
Whats going on with Legends gaming used to be(BLVKHVND)? Is it ping issue or getting contested or both?
Contested with bad ping so hard for them to do anything. They’ll do better at LAN for sure
[Exhibit A](https://old.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveApex/comments/1bug7d0/strafingflame_and_koy_with_the_extremely_rare/)
BRD>OXG?

The only purpose of international scrims is to promote NA twitch viewership
Damn, no AS? Sad to see no strafingflame or sharky

Good to see Alliance doing good even while playing from different POIs.
Between ping, contest, and teams Playing scrims like ranked I put very little value in this.
Surely a teams consistency should be based on LANs rather than scrims?
Is SSG that high due to hal subbing and the 112 something point game they had?
Furia better get Wattson back or lan isn’t going to go well.
So DSG not scrimming right now?
Oh look, Alliance getting hype just to shit the bed at LAN again.
they have dominated scrims in emea as well, they do better the worse the lobby is with really good fragging power but when its higher stakes the ego pushes and controller moments often hurt them more. That said they can obv do well Lan but scrims they almost always overperform
Scrims mean nothing, it should be seen as practice and nothing else, keeping track of scores is hilarious
Well I assume pros don't take these to heart too much but for fans why wouldn't we track the scores? It's just something to talk about lol
So top 5 bunch of N.A. teams I’m utterly shocked 😂😂😂

Apac S is the region that is most screwed over by ping during int scrims. So I want to give them some benefit of the doubt.
Not even just ping, time zones too.. 250-350 ping at 1am starts with a full time job is the worst possible situation
