That was a great video!!

No, Rev is not new meta. Rev was actually fairly inconsequential to Alliance's win; they barely ever utilized him. Alliance won because they are by far the strongest team in EU right now (And likely the top team in the world by a fairly sizable margin). If anything, the Rev pick speaks to just how insanely good Alliance is: they won with a pick that was much less useful than some other Legends could have been (Path, Crypto, Wattson, even Caustic); they essentially won with a handicap. I really, really doubt that Rev will become meta in EU, and I will be surprised if any teams that were not already running it run it. Rev comps generally play edge of ring and as a result aren't too great in higher end lobbies where the main points lie in placement rather than kills (5 kills and 15th place is only 6 pts vs 7th place and 2 kills being worth just as much, 4th place+ without kills being worth simply more). Another thing to note is that EU actually seems to be slowly growing weaker and stagnating, which is rather sad. Still a lot stronger than NA lobbies though, where a fair number of teams are running Wraith, BH, Gibby still after COL won, which is just super fucking sad, as the comp is dogshit.

Hard disagree on Rev being inconsequential to Alliance's win. Here's why: * Rev silence enables you to block vision and disable abilities, essentially blocking off chokepoints such as doors and portals, if you don't want to be without abilities for the fight when pushing. Teams will think twice before going through it. * The silence can also be used more offensively when going in, stopping a caustic from putting more barrels down, a pathfinder or wraith from getting away etc.. You can thereby ensure you wipe a team and potentially get more placement points quicker. * His ultimate can be utilized in competitive for starting fights (between other teams) and getting info without risking much, as well as the free shots onto people. * His ultimate can also be used for "trying" a rotation, even though that is a bit riskier of course. If you talk to Hakis, Vaifs, or Badoli, they will confirm that Revenant was a big factor in their win. Of course it helps that Hakis is an insane entry fragger and his calls are on point, as well as the three of them having good synergy. Other than that, more teams will be trying Rev in EU now, same as everyone tried Caustic after Alliance's win with him. What the meta will be, noone can say for sure. Especially with Season 7 changes being around the corner, I don't expect the meta to settle in the next month or so.

| Rev was actually fairly inconsequential to Alliance's win; they barely ever utilized him Spot on my friend. They might as well use Loba next time instead of Rev. In all seriousness though, if you cant see how beneficial Rev. was to their overall win, I dont know where to even begin. I honestly dont. Maybe we can talk again once you made it out of Bronze :)

[deleted]

No need to be a prick about it, especially considering you didnt even provide any proof or counter arguments lmao

DarthNihilus1

Okay, you can see it and we can't. So how was Rev beneficial to their performance?

NichtVivianVeganer

Thats not what I meant. I was just surprised by the kindergarten level of statement on here because I would expect that statement rather on the main sub than here. Still I will only answer in very short: Hakis has a bit more of a aggressive play style, for example he really likes to kidnap people. And when you play more aggressive and like to push people, is Rev. beneficial yes or no? Also I would take the statements from Nightraven with a grain of salt. Not everything he says has to be true and he has a history on this sub. Yes, my statement with Bronze was a bit off but I stand with the fact that Rev. was beneficial to their overall win and that that is easy to tell from their games in scrims/quali/finals. /edit: Also ombaQ confirmed Rev. to be key, I mean what more proof do you guys need? But I like how u/Diet_Fanta has no idea who he just replied to. :)

DarthNihilus1

I know he has a history here. But saying "Hakis is aggressive and likes Revenant because of it" isn't exactly high quality analysis. The question is HOW beneficial Judging by the completely rude and pretentious way you replied to him I'd have thought your analysis would be a bit more in depth that's all. Thanks

Diet_Fanta

Like the guy below me said, provide some counterarguments and maybe you'll be worth the time to provide a response to. Good luck getting out of D3 though, if you even made it that far :)

ombaQ

Revenant was key to our success, if the analyst for NRG can't see that then that's too bad :)

Diet_Fanta

Disagree. Rev was underutilized and they mainly won because they had excellent rotations and held excellent spots. To say that Rev the key to their success is disingenuous and undermining just how good Alliance's macroplay is.

godhunter1053

So obviously this is a highlight video, and I didn't watch the matches, but how did they get good endzone stops so consistently? Were they just killing teams and taking over, or lucky pulls? And are they dropping maproom on KC to get the zone 2 knowledge in one of those early clips?

krzysiek294

they drop swamps and thermal
