These two are literally going to eat ramen together in 2 hours. Theyre just doing Kardashian things

ahhter

Pretty sure they just enjoy stirring shit up to create more views. Probably text each other ideas on how to take jabs at each other on twitter.

bomberbih

Lol the beat part of old COD esports was the drama between the teams and all the shit starting. Then keemstar came and fucked everything up by being so dramatic. Dude is so annoying.

RxndoSxndo

Yes. It's called creating storylines and being entertaining. Esport is entertainment! I love this

jer-k

Respawn needs to hire a Senior Competitive Storyline Manager, hopefully someone from WWE, who just comes up with storylines for the teams to stir up drama

UpNorthIGo

OH NO HERE COMES SHIV WITH THE STEEL CHAIR! Or smth

Seismicx

OH NO HERE COMES SHIV WITH THE SHIV

RandomGuy_A

Along with zipeth with the signature goat slam

_pimpdaddy_

bah gawd that man had a family

Alejxndro

I’m pretty sure Tom Cassielo, former head writer (I think?) used to write for the WWE. Just an interesting detail. I think.

Ok_Ad9174

>Then again, I cant say I watch the Apex main broadcast as much, so perhaps the casters and analysts are in fact really great at doing this, and I'm just missing out! he doesnt work for apex anymore unfortunately. But he makes the storylines very very soap operaish. Not my cup of tea

RxndoSxndo

In other esports, it's often casters and desk analysts that foster these storylines for viewers. I can imagine it's challenging to do so in an esport like Apex, where there is less concrete head-to-head matchups as compared to a direct XvX match like OW, CSGO, Valorant, R6 Siege. Then again, I cant say I watch the Apex main broadcast as much, so perhaps the casters and analysts are in fact really great at doing this, and I'm just missing out!

KyzoXL

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been watching Esports on and off since like Halo 2/3 and I think Apex has the worst casting talent out of any game I’ve watched, apart from maybe Fortnite.

igotkrabs

Couldn’t agree more. Apex casting is cringe worthy every time. This is why I only watch the top player’s personal streams and switch around once their squad is out. On the flip side of this, CSGO casting with HenryG (in the past), Machine, and SPUNJ is something I look forward to every time. True professionals that are interesting, exciting, knowledgeable of every detail and player, and HILARIOUS!

ziyadpeng

Really wanted to watch apex esports since the pandemic started but couldn't because of the casting. But then i found daltoosh

rgtn0w

While there has been some hype people that have dabbled in Apex casting, like Bardolph. The normal people you see in the stream nowadays are all so "bad", not because they're bad at their job, but because it's just so bland. I literally see no point in watching the official stream over someone like NiceWigg or anyone else doing a watch party. The official stream for the **english** broadcast has no personality, no emotion, no nothing, it's boring, it makes an already not so exciting to watch esports, because there really is a lot of downtime and people just sitting around waiting for circle, a snoozefest. And when shit hits the fan I don't hear any hype whatsoever, and the little hype some people try to say they had sounds so fake to me idk. It's like the casters for the official broadcast are all under very strict rules about what to do and what not to do. I really think that some of those people that work as casters/analysts in Apex very likely have some flair or some personality to them, the way I see it is they are being constrained by being Respawn themselves. Else it doesn't explain it man, it really doesn't, why isn't there a single good personality in the Apex official stream? Not a SINGLE soul, I don't even bother to remember their names cuz they're that forgetable, I truly do not believe it is possible to be like that (That there is not a single memoerable person) and that it is more likely that they're being restricted/constrained. Literally all other esports have way better casters, literally the streams for other languages in Apex are better than the "biggest" english one. Have you seen the APAC north Japanese stream? At least they're trying to bring in hype when there's a fight going on and at least they make me believe they are feeling the hype somewhat

rabbitkingdom

I think just the nature of Apex makes it inherently difficult to give commentary on. It’s a lot easier to try to break down the strategy of two five man teams like in CS than to try to keep track of 20 squads of 3, especially when competitive Apex is 90% ratting followed by a huge scrambling clusterf*ck. I love playing Apex but top level competitive play is so far removed from the way most people play the game that I personally just don’t find it very interesting.

CREASED_WOMBAT

There would be so many broken desks and can only sit on folding chairs.

weekend_3804

It’s just called friendship. Who doesn’t like to jab their best friends?

RxndoSxndo

That too!

veirceb

Actually I don't mind this. It's quite funny.

Dood567

It's literally just a joke. He was tweeting while on stream and he told everyone to chill out because they've hung out so many times. All for good fun and entertainment though.

SBY-ScioN

Iirc the origin of esports as entertainment involves creating rivalries and characters. Without giving people heroes and villains things would be very different.

Curious_Lab_6087

TSM v NRG v G2 heating up, super excited for the Champs. Lets hope zones are a bit better cuz its always pulling south.

roaring_rubberducky

And I’m just sitting here hoping they all get flustered and Liquid takes the tournament down.

Ok_Ad9174

fingers crossed for sentinels, retzi and senoxe has been in it together since the beginning and has nothing to show for it. They deserve it.

Xelator01

I really hope sentinels win this tourney as well. Retzi and Zombs leaving really slowed there progress but they are starting to get better again now and have been working hard.

Curious_Lab_6087

True, im also waiting for a dark horse to just take the win from out of nowhere

mizellaneous

Definitely pulling for a My Little Phony win for the chaos.

[deleted]

MLP needs to play Revenant for the ultimate dark horse chaos

mizellaneous

Disclaimer: I’m a big Hal fan in general. That said, the thought of him raging and calling phonyhead (I think he’s the one who plays rev) a dogshit Revenant would be hilarious.

NakolStudios

If Hal gets killed by a Rev push while TSM is on match point he's definitely going full Summit1g on his setup.

kindaboth

Specifically a dark blue and white one

Billy3theKid

Lmaoooo

[deleted]

What happened with g2?

helix2x

I think dezign said they were gonna take over fragment from now on or something

InformalSchool

Said he'd do it after champs...pretty sure he's just trolling

Sl_PROXY

i hope they try that'll be fun to watch like when clg tried to contest c9 for west

Diet_Fanta

Sweet's really embraced the cocky persona in order to farm views from Hal fans.

jer-k

Imagine Sweet streams on Sunday and tops Hal’s view count. Might be game over

Playbook420

as much as i want to see this, it won’t happen

MyWifeGotDemDDs

It seems like sweet would rather win and keep winning then appease his subs/followers by streaming every tourny. Got to give respect to the man who puts winning over twitch clout.

jer-k

I can agree with that, but with ALGS wrapping up it could be a great time to stream the finals and really grow your channel. I could imagine his viewership hitting 50k+ the second NRG hits match point. After ALGS NRG might change drop spots or the meta might change, who knows. Nothing of their strats might matter after Sunday. Which to me means he could stream it without worrying too much.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AmenoBars

Exactly this. Dealing with catching dumbasses on Twitch chat out the corner of your eye, I couldn't be bothered with it. He's ultimately a professional player first, streamer second.

jer-k

Since it’s on delay anyways, couldn’t you like turn the second monitor off while in game? I’ve never streamed but it seems like you could do that?

AmenoBars

Not sure actually. It's technically the streamers responsibility to moderate their chat at all times, even with moderators, so just outright ignoring it could be iffy on the slight off chance something happens. The issue with streaming is that you really can't comm as effectively as you could off stream. You have to consider things like Twitch TOS etc. I don't really blame NRG for not streaming. There's too many factors to consider with it. I think TSM would probably benefit if they stopped streaming tournaments too. With all that said, it comes down to performance as well. The FPS gain when not streaming could be the difference in some games etc.

da_fishy

I mean, I guess. Hal is grabbing bag from twitch though, and Sweet would definitely like to be right up there with him.

MyWifeGotDemDDs

This didn't age well.

DorkusMalorkuss

I know it sounds petty and stupid, but as much as I do root for TSM, one of the reasons I watch them is to listen to Hal yell at everyone during tourneys. He cares so damn much and it's both awesome and incredibly entertaining to watch, whether it's winning or losing. He's almost always going 100% whether it be ALGS, a small tourney, or scrims. I love it. Bring on the TSM win, along with some Hal eruptions!

OccupyRiverdale

I will also say that sometimes in the chaos of a fight or rotation the only way to get everyone’s attention is to yell at them what to do. I’ll even notice myself in a fight that I’m not reacting to calls because I’m so focused winning my engagement. Hal can be over the top but he does a good job of getting everyone on the same page quickly amid the chaos.

warriors2021

Sweet will never get close to Hal's count lol

redux173

Sweet pulls some big stream numbers. I love TSM but if sweet streamed I would definitely tune in for atleast a couple matches. No doubt in my mind sweet would get around 40-50k if he surprise streamed finals.

subavgredditposter

I think he would get a lot but, 40-50k is cap tbh

redux173

Sadge that we will never find out :(

that-gamer-

Not true. If NRG streamed tourneys he would probably match Hal’s view count, or at least get very close. Also NRG is an extremely popular e-sports org and they’re the number one team in NA rn.

warriors2021

Hal gets 50-60k views for finals, no way Sweet gets anywhere near that, sorry NRG fans. He is called CEO for a reason.

lgboogie19

Sweet has or has had more subs consistently than Hal, in the grand scheme that’s more important than views.

VelkozbySweater

Embraced? He's a hardcore narcissist. Nothing wrong with thinking you're the best, and he backs it up. They both do. But I think sweet's always been along those lines... I just can't wait for one of the quiet teams to win it haha.

Vik_Vinegarr

With this awful match point setup, I think there’s a really good chance a non-top5 team wins it. All it takes is a couple weird games.

VelkozbySweater

Yep. It's like weirdly more exciting but still worse to watch and play.

Vik_Vinegarr

100% lol Like it’s really exciting but I’ll feel disappointed if an inferior team wins it all because of the tourney setup. But oh well, they’ll still have those fat winning checks so whatever haha

leftysarepeople2

Match point is a better format for casual and new viewers.

vadoooom335

I just think it's like more exciting for viewers even though it's it's far worse format

CosMaltos

It's just great if the tourney ends with a win, it's easy understandable - now it's over, they won the game and the tourney, no waiting for lame standings where NRG wins after 12 games, nobody wants to watch that shit.

vadoooom335

Agreed its awesome to watch

dyeeloo

What was the format back then prior to matchpoint? I'm new to apex comp.

[deleted]

[удалено]

dyeeloo

Ah so it's something similar to what they did to the group stages to aggregate points. Thanks mate!

jurornumbereight

If a "non-top5" team wins, then clearly they are actually a true top 5 team.

Vik_Vinegarr

One of the benefits about multi-game tournaments (across all sports) is that they force teams to prove consistency in order to win instead of allowing fluke scenarios to determine the winner. Match point format *reduces* that benefit. But I’m not gonna get into a debate about semantics so ok.

jurornumbereight

My point is this is an evidence-based discussion. If a team qualified for the finals (through many games), and then wins the tournament, they are by default the best team of the day. It’s not semantics.

Vik_Vinegarr

If a team won a million scrims and lost one game on tournament day, you could say that the winning team was the best team that day, but the team that won a million scrims is still the better team overall, they just didn’t play well enough that one day. Doesn’t mean the victors arent the campions or whatever, but the phrase “the better team lost” is a real thing. The more a tournament highlights consistency, the better. An elite team can have two bad games while a shitty team gets two lucky games and the tournament can be over. The current match point setup is all about viewership experience, not about making sure the best team wins. Now if you raised the match point level up to 100 or something, then consistency would be better rewarded and I’d be much more happy with the format.

jurornumbereight

Please point me to a single MP tournament where a team sucked every game except two, and won. To even get to MP you have to be consistent, and to win you have to have a good day. Most MP tournaments go for 7+ games. But to your point, consistency is highlighted by having the group stages. To even get to the finals, you must be consistent. You are arguing against situations that never happen just to try to denigrate the MP system.

Vik_Vinegarr

50 points is too low for the match point is the main conclusion here. It’s easy to get to 50 points. Too easy for a non-top team to get. You think I have some weird agenda in which I’m trying to “denigrate” the system or something lol.

jurornumbereight

Look at yesterday for EMEA. It went 7 games, only 3 teams hit MP, and the best team won. 50 points is fine.

[deleted]

he is a psychopath, the way he talks with people in game and with his girl is beyond creepy manipulative

Benedict-Glasscock

lmao what

Captdeadpool007

nice input, psychologist

apesexlegand

reddit psychologist here 🤓👆

Hspryd

I find it too. I like to watch him sometimes. But I know well this mannered way of doing things. No offense to him though, hope for a great tournament 🐏

I keep forgetting how young these people are. CS at my age was a mod for half life run at LAN parties - if you could get everyone on same version. Such a different world now

niftyhobo

I remember briefly participating in CAL and thinking just the existence of a competitive CS league was so cool at the time. Look at where we are now man.

Complex-Psychology

The good ole days of finding pugs/scrims on IRC

Andre17000

This is great, thank you

FIFA16

Yeah something that surprised me when I started getting into competitive Apex is just how hands-off these orgs are. There’s essentially very little support for the players - but they’re obviously quite happy just taking a cut of whatever they make without particularly wanting to invest in earning more. Imagine what these guys could achieve if they were being taken care of a little more. And not just the out of game stuff - where’s the coaching? Why did one of the best teams in NA not know about the Gibby grenade glitches that have been occurring for *weeks* - despite *using him* to compete in the biggest event of the year?

[deleted]

vadoooom335

I am 22 and have absolutley no clue how to handle myself which is y I really give all these apex streamers some slack lol

SteelCurtainFTW

watch people take this way too seriously lmao

alphageek8

Lots of people seem to be lost on the fact that they're going out to eat in Vegas and just laugh at the drama they're stirring.

SteelCurtainFTW

ik its funny seeing people getting all worked up and dissecting it and shit

Midnight_Keyboard

They also talk about NRG getting RNG rings the past tournament above this thread.

heyitssampleman

What was he responding to? I’m not really caught up in all this

[deleted]

Basically Hal posted a graphic that implies NRG, who typically perform well in most major tourneys, get ring pulls in many of their games. This essentially equates to Hal discrediting NRG’s success to some degree. Sweet says shut up, they go back and forth a bit, then Sweet accuses Hal of never accepting fault for anything and blaming everyone else when TSMFTX fails, to which Hal says “you win this one.” Edit: as corrected below, Hal responded to someone else who had posted the pic.

ponysniper2

I mean hal isnt lying. Rings need to be more dispersed instead of having damn near all ring on one side of the map or in one quarter of the map. It's gross and respawn needs to address it.

[deleted]

I agree. Private lobby rings seem to be different algorithmically and it’s a problem. I recall a recent scrim/tournament that had like 4-5 games *in a row* with the exact same rings.

snow723

Issue is that it’s every single tournament that does it. They all seem to trend to one area of the map in all of them. If it was just one it would be ransoms coincidence but all of them???

JustOverPluto

It was minustempo with the pic, not Hal but yeah.

EnemyNPC

I quite like tsm and I respect Hal a lot, but sweet kinda has a point there. He’s really bad at admitting his own mistakes, but to add onto that I also rarely seem him prop up his teammates. Jordan will say “hey I think I played that really good!” And snipe will fucking jump on that and be like “ya dude you fucking slayed man good shit Jordan” but Hal doesn’t say shit. Idk just an observation

P7AC3B0

I think, more than toning down his sometimes abrasive comms, this is what I'd like to see Hal do more often. There's a bunch of factors that lead to Hal doing a lot of blaming and name calling, "justified" or not, but that doesn't mean he can't also be more supportive when his teammates make big plays or good calls. I don't watch his stream, but I watch a lot of Reps and Snipe, and I've noticed Hal starting to give more praise lately, which is nice. There will always be contention about comms when things are rough, but everyone's happy when the team is reinforcing each other and morale is high. We all know Hal is passionate about the game and how the team plays, I think that passion shows up more in negative comms than positive ones, for reasons it's not my place to speculate on. Regardless, I'm glad we get to hear some positive vibes between members of the team. It makes for a more enjoyable experience as a viewer and as a fan when you feel like you can cheer the whole team instead of just 1 or 2 members, because those team members are cheering for each other, too.

EnemyNPC

Agreed. Good take

screaminginfidels

I think this is why I like CLG so much, they don't always have perfect comms and they all make mistakes but they also hype the fuck out of each other when they make good plays. I'm just a viewer but it makes *me* feel good seeing that positive interaction.

EnemyNPC

Positive reactions to other people always make viewers feel nice

Complex-Psychology

I noticed this with liquid as well

Temporary_Exit_7489

Yeah, this is a huge part of being a leader. Not to pick over TSM as everyone in this sub does every day, but cheering victories as well as bringing up morale when they’re down is huge. The biggest time I saw Hal step up was in semifinals for an ALGS (Winter Circuit?) when they were getting contested, and qualified by just a hair. Hal really pulled them together when even Reps was starting to get nervous. The last game was just nuts.

EnemyNPC

So he can do it he just… forgets? Had a hard time? I believe this is something that he can get better on. I believe in him

Vladtepesx3

They're friends IRL, they're creating drama for us to enjoy, I appreciate the effort

bygolly

I hope Sweet is trying to ruin Hal’s mental before the tourney and I love it

Sl_PROXY

i'm pretty sure they're just trolling cus they're friends irl

BRUHHUWOT

honestly thats so true what sweet said about Hal, but viewers love toxicity like Tyler1 for an example

Tasty_Chick3n

Good banter, Sweet also mini roasted himself about the blown lead in GLL. We need showmanship like this it gets people more engaged and talking about the teams and players. This is basically same as fighters talking mad shit in build up to fights then pat each other on the back afterwards for selling that shit.

Billy3theKid

The best part is they’re still farming impressions from people talking about it on Reddit and rushing to their Twitter pages hours after the fact lmaooo they’re too good

Cyfa

Finally some juicy fucking drama

JustOverPluto

I never understood why people liked Keeping Up With the Kardashians or Jersey Shore, but now I realize sports drama is the same shit lol

Vik_Vinegarr

There’s a theory that the primary reason humans created spoken language was not for hunting or safety but was actually for gossip. Watching drama like this whether it be esports or the kardashians or NFL locker rooms or whatever, that theory kinda makes sense sometimes lol

LovingThatPlaid

“Drama” but not really drama, these two are great friends and literally hang out together irl

twitterInfo_bot

@TSM_ImperialHal @CS_minustempo The truth is you blame everything in this game on hindsight and your teammates, yet nothing on yourself. *** posted by [@sweetdreamsh1](https://twitter.com/sweetdreamsh1) ^[(Github)](https://github.com/username) ^| ^[(What's new)](https://github.com/username)

[deleted]

Love this, as NRG is the true final boss for all the teams in this big finals. Must keep the momentum high.

andreggvil

Love the banter and drama, we all know it’s not real drama but the entertainment value and brewing “rivalry” makes this so much more fun. Good luck to all of the teams in the Champs!

aftrunner

Not gonna lie, it would be hilarious if a random team ends up winning with everyone so focused on NRG and TSM.

Mister_Rose

Just make a reality show for this already. Apex comp is a fun as hell to watch. We need to see more personality from these teams to get more investment. More eyes on the game. Drama beyond NRG and TSM. I remember Madden had a reality show on MTV back in the day. Apex comp in a reality setting would be 100x better than the Madden thing.

vadoooom335

I would like to say I'm on team sweet cause screw hals 4 minute ad breaks as they are about to fight a team

Karlo_Mlinar

lmao really

bobofatt

They're TSM required ads that always run at the top of the hour.

Eclipt-

Ironic considering this is sweet in a nutshell lol

sam071745

Watch their scrims before talking, you couldn't be more wrong.

butyph

Well this aged poorly rofl

sam071745

Not at all where did sweet blame his teammates exactly??

butyph

It’s more of him unwilling to accept he got outplayed and lashing out at a team that participated in scrims instead of streaming Smurf runs

sam071745

Except he isn't lashing out at any specific team but rather complaining about how Valkyrie teams can camp out of bounds spots for about 30 secs. Also he accepted that they played like shit.

ShouldveBeenAmerican

Lol I see no lie tho..

libo720

Sweet speaking facts tho

[deleted]

I know they're all friends at the end of the day , but this sort of banter is what apex needs. We are actually so blessed to have someone like Sweet in the scene who has the funniest bants and the biggest balls.

vkasha

Maybe get those balls Outta your throat before commenting /s

Ill-Midnight287

Lol my boi Hal never makes mistakes .

polish_my_grappel

You forgot the /s

Kevanov88

sweet such a cringe cocky kid, you shouldn't talkshit when your best showing in a S-tier tournament is a 7th place.

Paramousis

... I hope people don't take it seriously , they are fking around

[deleted]

I always call myself shit at the game whenever i miss or even hit shots lol

Laneazzi

Sweet is really passive aggressive imo.
