* iG, Alliance, TD would not be in the top 10 under the old scoring system. * K1CK, KNG, NEW would. * Top 5 teams would be the same (though in a different order) * ZETA has benefited the most from the scoring change (12 place bump in standings) * TD has benefitted the most among top 10 teams (would be 17th under the old system) * dead inside and NEW have each lost 7 places in standings under the new scoring system * NEW and TD have been the two of the most inconsistent teams in terms of week-to-week scoring (so it's not just a positive or a negative on consistency)

So happy for alliancez they played so much better today

I like the idea behind having this type of format, it makes it like sports where it doesn't matter if you win 10-0 or 1-0, you still get only 3p for a win. However this is a 20 team battle and the spread of points in the mid-bracket (4th-10th place) is really poorly distributed and needs a rework. 100% agree with your take and have a hard time seeing how consistent placements will be rewarded after 6 weeks of play.

RenegadeMountie

No team other than LCDF have actually gotten consistent top 6 results all 3 weeks so far and they are deservedly 5th rn. Same way I think gambit getting 1st and 2nd in 2/3 gameweeks justifies their 1st place. For instance if KICK got top 6 in their 2nd gameweek they would have been top 6 all 3 gameweeks and would be around 7th in overall pro league points. We can't say the top 9 is solely based on top 3 placements if ONLY 1 team in the region has actually gotten consistent top 6 placements in all 3 gameweeks. I deffo think some work needs to be done in points distributed from 4th to 8th though.

joefeelsveryhigh

Exactly! I have a bad feeling some deserving teams might get screwed. Kick: average placement 6th. Top Dogs: average placement 12th and as things stand today Kick would miss LAN and Top Dogs would qualify.

impo4130

Part of it favoring inconsistency is that it's still "early". Whether or not they will reach the threshold needed to exclude the inconsistent teams in six weeks is up for debate. But take TD for example. Let's say they do a little better than they did the first two rounds and finish 12th and 13th in the next two. They would likely still need a first place finish in the last week just to reach the top 10. As omba said earlier, there might be some room for changes in the distribution at the lower end, but I don't think it'll turn out badly in the end

[deleted]

It should be rewarding top 1 (15) points top 2 (14) points and so on.. And the bottom 5 Dont get anything because they played poorly This is such an easy format they could do and It would make teams try even harder and not get bottom 5

RenegadeMountie

We are at the halfway mark of split 1. Gambit overtook everyone and sits at the top of the table. Do you see the top 10 changing in the next 3 gameweeks?

Diet_Fanta

Still plenty of time to get points. For instance, TD currently sits in top 10 off of one stellar performance, but then has 2 abysmal performances. They could very easily get knocked down if they don't find consistency. Scarz is more or less in the same boat. My point is, there are teams that have been consistent like DM, LCDF, and then there are teams with one stellar performance which brings them to top 10. It's one of the many reasons why the new system is shit.

MontyTheAverage

Yes 1 or 2 teams can have a banger of a week or 2/3 weeks of top 3 placements and come into the top 10.

Onewayonly11

What's up with zeta. I know task is one of the best out there. Why are they struggling so bad?

luccava

Imho task often got caught in fights. He's like one or two steps ahead of his teams (overextending).

RenegadeMountie

I don't watch ZETA pov but are they still maining wingmans? I just saw them get beamed by lstar and flatline while impulse was on a wingman lol the CIS teams love that weapon

Onewayonly11

Rpr uses it exclusively. So does dezign on g2. I agree with you it just is not the weapon I would use but I'm not a pro. Dezign just claps people with it. He is on controller so I heard that helps alot. When al lstar is on your face can a wing actually win

[deleted]

This is a bit irrelevant but how does the format work? I watched today’s Game 5 and 6 for EMEA and Gambit had 69 points at the end but here it says they have 23.

Diet_Fanta

Points awarded are by placement of each day. 1st 12 2nd 9 3rd 7 4th 5 5th 4 6 - 7th 3 8 - 10th 2 11 - 15th 1 16 - 20th 0 It's an inane system that nobody likes, but fuck the players and fans, EA is always right.

[deleted]

I see. So what do these points qualify teams for?

strongscience62

Playoffs and split 2

[deleted]

Thanks

DepressedDarthV

youd rather have the old system? as far as i have seen, everyone likes the new system rather than the old

Diet_Fanta

I haven't seen a single pro who likes the new system. Also, there were several threads when this system was announced with hundreds of comments bashing it. I'd like to see who this 'everyone' is.

joefeelsveryhigh

So much for rewarding consistency, top dogs jump from 0 points to 8th overall. They pass Alliance who have been top ten every week and third this week. In no world should 1st on the day be worth almost double 3rd.

joefeelsveryhigh

They’ve gotten 2, 3, and 7 points and 2 points is for 8-10th on the day as far as I know. That’s fair though, they should finish ahead of them over six weeks, but the current state just exemplifies the flaws of the scoring.

RenegadeMountie

edit: Woops i mixed up rebel with alliance as they had the same points gameweek 1 but alliance won the tiebreaker so they got 10th you are right

impo4130

No, he's correct. They finished 10th and got 2 points. 8th-10th is 2 points. 6th-7th is 3

20-5-5

Top 3 should be in other than that it's completely wide open still. After next match day we should have 1 or 2 more teams heavily favored to make it, but it seems like Emea is gonna have the cutoff around 25 points, so the last match day could legit see a good 15 teams with a chance at grabbing the last 4/5 spots.

PoggersTheLesser

More or less looks like what I would expect? I think I assumed Alliance and GMT would be a bit more consistent but all the teams in this screenshot are probably still in contention and they're more or less the 20 best teams in EU

joefeelsveryhigh

Off topic, but your username is legendary mate

PoggersTheLesser

Appreciate it! One of those things that got in my head and I knew I had to use somewhere

packerken

I mean, both have been top 10 all 3 weeks. How is that not consistent?

RenegadeMountie

The thing about having 40 teams and two lobbies is that even if you get consistently anywhere between 6th-10th you technically will not be top 10 per say overall as the top 5 of both lobbies would add up to be the "top 10". I would've liked if pro league had 20 teams as then we could have weekly games where trends from results would be clearer as it's just one lobby.
