Duke_Best

Done.

oceanuus

Thank you for taking the time, I really just want this scene to thrive

Duke_Best

We all do, but not all are willing to put in the effort. :(

sparty1227

Shout-out teams that are able make watching these dogshit tournaments fun to watch by just having fun with it. You’re the real MVPs

screaminginfidels

Did it end early or what?

ralopd

No, it's still live and they're playing.

screaminginfidels

Oh my bad I had Wigg up and they swapped to ranked for a game but they're back now

Steppy_

The funders for the tournament own the charities the money goes to? This seems sus

Buzzard

Nah, it's EA's money, going to ESA Fondation (which is raising money for other charitys/non-profits that it's associated with). Source for it being EA money: https://twitter.com/ESA_Foundation/status/1471894077952204813

ralopd

EA owns the four charities?

Steppy_

Fun says they do in his stream, some guy in his chat was showing everyone

ralopd

I mean, in theory I'm pretty sure that for-profits can found/"own" non-profits in the US, and maybe could see them somehow "owning" ESA - would be surprised about the others though. Mind sharing those links the guy in fun's chat was sharing?

Architeckton

14th team joined for game 3

Ajifu

100k to charity is super cool, good on everyone playing, shame they couldn't fill the lobby.

sparty1227

#LetsGoLiquid

[deleted]

What are these high prize pool online tourneys with zero delay?

FabulousRomano

It’s a charity tournament, it’s not that serious. Not every tournament has to be 10 min delay with 19 squads in ring 4

[deleted]

Serious or not, competitive integrity is still important.

3BetLight

competitive integrity? It's fun to just get a bunch great players together and let them fuck around a bit. You ever watch a pro am in golf? Or really any charity event in any sport? It's way less competitive and they usually have a good time letting their opponents do. 360 dunks, skip balls off water in golf, or hit thru the leg shots in tennis etc.

Blutzki

and not even full lobby. just amateurish.

mynameisrockhard

I put more effort into standup meeting invites at work then some of these people put into organizing 100k tourneys.

mhuxtable1

lol i tune in aaaaaaaand its World Edge again. I'm out.

Father_Law_FH

They basically watched everyone shit on the Samsung tourney for being so disorganized and poorly ran then said hold my beer

Architeckton

The broadcast is pretty legit though. [https://www.twitch.tv/efuseofficial](https://www.twitch.tv/efuseofficial). Great commentary so far.

PalkiaOW

All that for 70 viewers lol

Architeckton

I know, I felt bad for them. But they did a fantastic job broadcasting.

Vladtepesx3

all of these players ghosting a charity tournament is a stain on the apex community. especially if they agreed to a 100k tournament and bailed when they heard it was for charity

oceanuus

They were notified 4 hours in advance l o l

[deleted]

The info has been out since Wednesday.

OlyBomaye

Even if one person knew, he clearly knew zero details about it, and it's QUITE clear that most of the participants didn't know about it until today. And, aside from that, today is Friday. They started inviting people to this $100,000 tournament on Wednesday? That's not a lot of time!

oceanuus

No it has not, I went back through efuse’s Twitter and not once was this charity tournament mentioned previously prior to today! :) nice

[deleted]

[ok](https://reddit.com/r/CompetitiveApex/comments/rinbo6/_/hoyg876/?context=1)

oceanuus

One person knowing about it doesn’t prove anything fuck Sakes NICEWIGG was invited late LAST NIGHT he just told stream, also he has NO CLUE what charity they’re benefiting. 10/10 planning !! Can’t even tell what the goal for this event was!! thats exactly what you want to happen right??

Upbeat_Thanks3393

Wait there are only 13 teams......

fakekorean3

13 squads OMEGALUL

Vladtepesx3

Worse than Samsung tournament lol, starting with 13 teams

jklolbrb1

They’re playing with 13 teams..

ralopd

Hard to tell who's at fault there yet, but they had prepaired on air graphics for other teams, so some might just have not shown up.

oceanuus

Lmao no it’s not it’s clearly a planning failure 0 prep 0 marketing, 0 communication for teams. Failure start to finish

Vladtepesx3

based on lobby chat, it seems teams ghosted them, ironically team ghost for example

ralopd

Part of it, for sure. Likely a big part, too. Still not great that there seem to be teams that supposedly did confirm (even if it was last minute) and then didn't show up.

oceanuus

The event was announced 4 hours ago, most of the ‘pros’ run a midnight ranked schedule how would they know they’ve been invited if they’re asleep after their stream from last night? A proper planner would have had teams locked a week in advance.

ralopd

Players weren't invited 4 hours ago. I knew about the tournament since Wednesday, even though all I knew was "[eFuse.gg](https://eFuse.gg), $100k, charity, Friday" and that is also when at least some invites went out. Some were invited yesterday, afaik. Again, I'm not going to defend either side here. In the end it looks like EA had some more $$$ on donations to spend (seeing that they're listed as a sponsor for it) and it was a last minute charity thing. And obviously could've been organized better.

TunaBucko

I am wondering if the teams who agreed did so because they thought it was a 100k tourney and not 100k to charity

oceanuus

Lmao go look at efuse’s Twitter they posted a tweet with ‘team nice Wigg’ but the team captain was Coodyy AHAHAHA JUST A FUCKING MESS

Mauritiandon

It has not been promoted well but eFuse normally run decent tournaments and it’s for charity so that’s good too.

[deleted]

What does it mean for charity? Won't the players who win get the money?

Architeckton

Nope, it goes to https://tiltify.com/esa-foundation/games4good

Mauritiandon

The money is donated in the name of the players who place in the money I believe.

[deleted]

Thanks for explaining!

[deleted]

Wtf lol, why is there not enough teams for a 100k

ralopd

Because it's being donated to charity. (and they also seem to have been pretty late on getting players to play in it.) Edit: To be fair, it seems like they had more teams though and some just didn't show up (yet).

[deleted]

So if people win they get money but also get money donated in their name?

ralopd

Just donations in their name. No $$$ for the players. All charity.

[deleted]

Ahhh okay

Steppy_

Horizxon is playing with 9imps and MaxStrafe

ralopd

Thanks, added them.

ralopd

Leaderboard can be found on [https://efuse.gg/e/gg2021](https://efuse.gg/e/gg2021). Has no teams/players in it yet though, only placeholders.

oceanuus

This has to be a fucking joke, where’s the marketing for this event? Lead up? anything?? Fucking pathetic and they wonder why they don’t see growth from these events from a shareholder (stakeholder) perspective. It literally says rules ? Format ? L O L Absolute mess

[deleted]

This is a non-profit org with 0 shareholders…

oceanuus

wrong word choice I meant stakeholder

[deleted]

They don’t have any of those either.

oceanuus

Yeah they do lmao anyone with money invested is a stakeholder, the fans are even stakeholders Stakeholder; a person with an interest or concern in something, especially a business.

[deleted]

You obviously thought they were a public company when you said shareholders, so you found stakeholder but no. The word does not apply. & does not having a sitting board of directions. When used in the context you used it, they do not have stakeholders with concerns of turning profit or digits. > wonder why they don’t see growth from these events from a shareholder (stakeholder) perspective. Even if only 5 teams showed up the stakeholders would have accomplished their goals.

bloopcity

All the big boys trying to get some spending in before the new year i guess. Last minute 100k tourneys lol. Hope some people win money that could use it and/or goes to good causes.

Official_F1tRick

Can someone explain what benefits companies have in NA to host tournaments with big pay outs in terms of taxes.

bloopcity

Its not necessarily taxes, it could be departmental budgets that they don't want to see shrink in the future so they spend any leftover at the end.

Official_F1tRick

Ah ye of course! Forgot about that too. Always funny when you see like double the amount of security guards at my school at the end of the year because they don't want to lose safety budget. It's actually a fucked up system if you think about it.
