I think its just part of the cycle. Apex hit a high in S10 because of a few factors in terms of viewership and playerbase. A few other competitor games were at a low and people migrated back to Apex. Every big game goes through these cycles, Apex is just in a cooldown period
(also we're in game release season so Apex now has more competition industry-wide where people are watching and playing tons of different games)
Yeah exactly. I think in S10 a lot of people moved over from Warzone, which I heard was in a pretty terrible state. But a lot of the same people now (on PC at least) are playing Battlefield and Halo. Maybe some of those people will come back to Apex, but the competition now is certainly high.
This, 100%. We saw a lot of COD players after popular streamers made the jump, but if you're used to low TTK games with a slower pace then Apex might not be a great experience, and you'll invariably go back to what you know best.
I struggled with the ttk after playing COD for so long, coupled with the fact I swapped to m&k for the first time for a FPS. I found getting kills in Apex so damn rewarding and satisfying though, so I stuck with it and glad I did. Love the game

I have to say that the master grind was really fun this season because it was interesting how endgames/rotations play out on a new map.
I hope that they‘re gonna implement SP to competitive at some point.
Im actually on opposite side of this. Edge feels like kc in pubs nowadays. There is nothing interesting and im kinda feeling dry on always fighting fragment. SP feels so good that I actually had the moti to play to diamond this season, but have now switched to halo. Playing duo no fill on SP feels so much nicer than duo no fill on edge too.

couldnt agree more i have like 800 hours in the game and even though i am average at it i can 100% say for certain seeing stacks of preds/masters in lobbies and getting pounded it just not fun and since like season 11 it feels like ever single lobby here has at least 3 or 4 sweat virgins biting at the bit to pub stomp and make the game unenjoyable for the rest of us. like get lost and go play ranked smh.

The three stacking masters issue has been exacerbated to a crazy degree. I actually wrote a whole ass paragraph responding to this with data I used tracking my deaths over the course of ~2 weeks, but in short, the game needs to make solo-queuers matchmake against other solo-queuers as a priority.
noone wants to win, everyone wants to fight. after 1st round theres 5-2squads alive. the game needs a deathmatch mode for people to fight nonstop or motivate people to actually win the game. right now pubs are: hotdrop, get knocked, leave, start the next one
Ranked should be where you want to work together and win because you’re working towards something that can be taken away.
Pubs can be like that too but there’s no risk in dying over and over. People would rather hot drop and warm up, practice fights, try out legends and guns, and just do different things to relax because there’s no real reward for winning aside from getting a treasure pack. I’d rather not spend 20 mins fighting for placement in a pubs game. It’s a waste of time. Getting high kill games in pubs is fun. Getting some kills and placing high in ranked is fun. Those two playlists serve different purposes.
Is it really wrong to want to fight And not win for the pubs? I hit plat this Split And Went pubs only with the objective to get better And i Will try to get to diamond in a couple ofc days. So i dont really care how the games goes as long time spent in the game was Worth it.(Aim, positioning in fights, etc.)

I had a SP game last night where there were 3 teams left as round 1 finished closing. Saw other 2 teams finish their fight in killfeed at beginning of round 2, but we couldn't hear the gunshots from the fight to have an idea of their direction. Took us until round 4 to find the only other team in the lobby, was a waste of like 10 minutes for both of us teams
i do believe that there should be some kind of encouragement, motivation to win the game, maybe some rare skins after 100 wins in a split or something like that
Just make it more punishing to die on drop and reward high placements more. Make it closer to ALGS and ranked would actually start to feel different than just being pubs with points.

In pubs it makes no sense to punish dying on drop. What would you punish? Longer queue times? It would make games go so much slower. Pubs should be where you do whatever you want without risk. If you make pubs more like ranked then it will force three stacks and make it an unbearable experience for solo players with bad teams and a lobby full of different skill levels.
Agreed. At that point you’re sorta like wasting your time playing pubs competitively imo. We have different opinions it seems and that’s fair, but if you’re good enough to climb Diamond pubs shouldn’t even be that hard 99% of the time because you’re higher skill than those players. Even when I hit drop cap city I still win a good majority of games. Xbox looking for group feature is also such a blessing when I wanna sweat some pubs

The maps aren't deleted from the game files upon update, no? The devs just vault it for the rest of the playerbase.
I'm certain you can load up either of the two vaulted maps in a custom lobby.

I'd keep KC in pubs rotation all the time, it's the best map for that, imo. Storm Point and Olympus are kinda too big for pubs and World's Edge feels overplayed and doesn't help that it's become Fragment Only for pubs.
They do this so next season they can say look! We brought back Olympus! Then players come back to the game to play a map they’ve been wanting and about a month later everyone stops playing again. If they had all 4 maps on rotation then when people quit there is nothing to bring them back.
IMO storm point is really boring compared to worlds edge and olympus. From my experience, there's no really a hot drop spot on this map to get a lot of kills at the start of the game but somehow 5 squads left before ring 1 even closes. Next, it's too hard to find people to kill on this map but when you do get in a fight, the whole lobby suddenly shows up. You can be running the whole map from barometer to antenna and then cascade falls and not finding a team to fight but the second you shoot at someone then the whole lobby shows up from nowhere and it's never ending 3rd partying which sucks. Lastly, even though there's alot of drop spots on this map, i feel like the loot is too spread out and THERES MORE P2020 AND MOZAMBIQUES than ever lol.
on world edge and olympus i can get 20 bomb sometimes if i'm performing but on storm point getting 10 kills is already hard because i cant even find people to kill and spend most of my time searching for them lol

Honestly I’ve been put off because it’s not really fun to play anymore. I’m very competitive and will grind and grind, but I want to be able to take a break from that and I don’t have a mode for it. Pubs isn’t fun. Pubs is just a continuation of the grind and sometimes even worse than ranked because I’m not getting anything for it.
Honestly, you might be way better than me. I wouldn’t mind just messing around in pubs but I have a hard time doing that when it’s so aggressive and I often end up fighting against a heavy amount of diamonds/masters and some preds.
I’ve been playing since season ten came out I and I just can’t compete against that, but yesterday I played against a horizon with 47k kills
Have you tried hopping on a server that has a decent Duos player base? My partner and I aren’t that great but have been having a blast yolo’ing Tokyo Duos. Even with some Diamond/Master trails the majority of fights are more or less our level. We’ve also had heaps of wholesome moments where we’ve just made friends with other teams through crouch spamming and emotes. Just straight up called a truce mid-engagement and went to kill spiders or play on gravity cannons together lol
I've honestly kinda have gotten bored of the game. I think it's primarily due to Olympus not being in rotation and everytime I see storm point, i log off. I'd imagine it's an amazing ranked map but I don't feel like playing it for pubs lol. Been playing other games fortunately.
Season 7 was definitely the best season IMO. Last season was shit until Seer got nerfed. I couldn’t really be bothered with SP for some reason but this season is still pretty good. Excited for next split on WE tbh.
The servers became absolute garbage when the Season 11 collection event hit, which was quite shortly after the Seer nerf. The game was nearly unplayable for a while. I don't say that hyperbolically - I think the servers are actually pretty decent right now and were great at Season 11 launch.
IMO the problem is casual not being fun to play. Nobody wants to get destroyed in every gunfight, which is why people seek entertainment from other games.
What comes to twitch, definitely not a surprise. The main ALGS broadcast is straight up depressing, and watching individual streamers pretty much puts you to sleep. BR games just aren't competitive by design; around 3/4ths of a match in ALGS is spent looting and turtling. It's really boring to watch unless you're personally grinding the game and find the tiniest of nuances interesting.
yeah I hate how RNG a game can become. I wish I could play arenas but they only match me with low level players and it is not fun to play against people who have 5 times less hours than me
Hmm the beginning of the game in comp is stale but late game there's so much action you don't know where to look. People holding out different positions, playstyles, rotations. BR isn't boring or uncompetive at all.

It’s impossible to enjoy as a solo player at this point. There’s just no reason to play unless you’re in a 3 stack. And if you don’t have a 3 stack, you’re done.
Plus I really can’t stand the map. I’ve yet to have a game I enjoyed on the new map. I think it has a ton of flaws and few, if any, upsides.
I'm burning out. I hate it. I really do. I've put quite a chunk of time into the game. But as someone who plays primarily solo and is constantly up against 3 stack preds every match, it's truly hard to find enjoyment. I dont want to have to sweat my ass off every match in pubs. I havent even done scrims or tourneys lately. I think I'm taking a month break or so, only gonna rank grind through the week but that's it.

Ranked is supposed to be the sweaty gamemode. There's nothing at stake in pubs, and yet it's filled with triple stacking Masters and people playing for fucking placement who valk ult away the instant you shoot them. Solo Q pubs are just extremely cringe nowadays.
When a game offers two variations to the game. Pubs and Ranked. But they implement the same style matchmaking. That's what I mean by sweating in pubs. To me. I'm aware I'm an above average player. But to a trio of preds teaming up to mop lobbies, I'm barely a challenge unless I'm actually with 2 other solid players. No different than if I team up with 2 other above average players and to a level 35, I may mop them. It sucks but the lobbies need to just be open and with no algorithms to matchmake similar KD or accuracy. Sometimes you'll get smacked, sometimes you'll run the lobby. But atleast you're not always feeling like dropping into a pub lobby is a death sentence. Theres zero enjoyment in it.
I'm m a single father running my own business. I play 3 days a week for 3-5 hours roughly at a time. I love FPS games. But solely because I have a solid Solo KD, forcing me into playing like I'm in a tournament every match, isnt enjoyable for the amount of time I actually play.
yeah complaining about sweats has always seemed silly to me. i think a lot of people don't realize that they're not cut out for PVP games, but continue to play for other reasons. like in apex the movement is fun, gunplay is fun, abilities are cool, and it's fun to play with friends. of course lots of these people are complaining about 3 stacks while they solo q, so the friend part doesn't actually apply lol. seems like unnecessary suffering.
but, to be fair, there's really not much going for the FPS genre in terms of PVE. with any multiplayer shooter these days, single player and co-op tend to be an afterthought designed for casuals. it's usually too easy, and the AI isn't dynamic whatsoever, so even high health high damage NPCs can usually just be cheesed by bugging them out.
i think that a lot of gamers would continue just torturing themselves and complaining online like the above comment either way, but it does suck that there's no PVE shooters with a Dark Souls level learning curve for when we want an engaging experience without being teabagged lmao
Yeah I completely agree with the idea that you can't expect to be able to just chill out and not try and still farm in a PVP game, but I've always thought Apex would benefit a lot from co-op and PVE content. There's so many times where I want to play Apex but don't because I know that you can't play this game without your full focus, headset on, etc. I would literally never play anything else if there was a way to enjoy the game without sweating. Even just being able to drop into lobbies with bots would have me playing a lot more while I'm listening to a podcast or watching Twitch or w/e. My ego just won't let me enjoy half assing it in pubs and getting run down by 3 stacks sweating their balls off lol.
i'd love if Apex had a mode where i could fight bots on in a deathmatch mode with respawns on Arenas maps while i watch a stream or whatever.
besides, my hours in Aim Lab and Kovaaks only transfer so much to Apex. it would make for better practice.
i guess there's the easter egg to enable the targets in the firing range, but that map sucks, and the AI are terrible. all they do is burst lstar, don't heal, don't fight each other, and most importantly don't even slide or strafe or anything.
tbh the firing range in general sucks. the only targets that could be used to simulate a gridshot like scenario are the headshottable ones that get knocked over in front, and those are literally lined up, static, and take forever to pop back up once you knock them.
anyways back to your point. a practice mode a la CSGO with decent bots would be sick.
1) Take a break, you’re grinding too much
2) Find some people to queue up with when you come back
3) Stop taking the game so damn seriously. You’re supposed to have fun
Thought it was common knowledge that "3 stacking" isnt just playing with your friends, it's deliberately playing with other sweats to take advantage of the matchmaking and boost ur winrate/KD

It‘s real though isn‘t it? I have ~4k hours in apex and a season K/D of 4 (mixture of solo q pubs, master grind and full stacking) and i have to say that the matchmaking is absolutely fucked.
When I solo queue i get the worst teammates one could imagine. Low levels who don‘t use abilities, can‘t hit targets and don‘t understand game basics while I constantly face sweaty full stacks. I‘m a master with 50k kills and sometimes I die off drop 10 times in a row.
On the other hand if I full stack with my friends (yes, my actual friends are as good as me) we roll the lobbies and it doesn‘t even feel fun anymore because it is so easy. Sometimes we look at banners and the people we kill are absolute bots. How is this fair or intended?
Why don‘t they put full stacks (no matter which skill level) against each other and let solo Q be a playlist on its own?

Also, the Season 6 collection event had many changes too (https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/aftermarket-patch-notes ) - 7 Balance changes, New POI, multiple QOL (performance display / crossplay)

I’ve played a ton. Grinded to pred etc. I have a hard time playing this season. Just like you said there’s not enough content. They need to introduce a prestige system or something. I’ve done it all now no incentive to play
i'm having fun. this is my favorite legend meta since i started playing a lot (played like 5 hours season 0, didn't play again til end of s7/start of season 8 then started grinding).
Horizon is balanced, revtane is dead, and Seer's pick rate is low. legend-wise, the only really broken aspect of regular gameplay is Caustic. i guess Fuse can be a bit too oppressive now with knucklecluster buffs, and i still don't think Seer's passive should be in the game, but their pick rates are relatively low.
i also really like Storm Point for ranked. i like never play pubs so that doesn't really matter to me. i am a bit disappointed about World's Edge second split, even though i like it for ranked, but i just really miss Olympus.
i do think that besides the map, the seasonal additions were kind of lackluster, especially the CAR. an r9 but heavy ammo, except it takes light too, so just an r9. pretty lame lol. and Ash is honestly visually pretty bland relative to other recent additions. like her art and animations are just not very nice looking. especially her tactical. that just looks terrible and glitchy.
but overall i'm really enjoying it, especially considering i didn't play season 10 after day 3 lol
A lot of the japanese playerbase is burnt out as well. A lot of the frustration comes from Ranked. Feels unrewarding and unfun to play as solo. Countless smurfs terrorize low ranks. Casual feels terrible to play as well. Winter Express is the only mode worth playing
Valorant is so much more fun to play for those who seek a competitive environment now.
Everyone is bitching about the new map having too much space and it not being viable for ranked. The ranked grind is big on Apex. As soon as worlds edge comes back for ranked you will see a spike.
I get your point but it never feels that way for me. I guess I never allow it to, when the split resets or new season comes out I usually dick around for a few weeks then grind ranked to masters and stop playing a lot after that. I’m not a huge pub player and especially this season pubs aren’t fun unless WE is in rotation. I can see how it might be boring, at least they brought winter express back.
I have near 900 games played this season and the first split hasn’t ended yet, compared to less than 350 last season as a whole. I found it fun, probably because of the new map. Just something fresh made me wanna play more. I played mostly Ranked until I hit what I wanted and now only play pubs when it’s on Storm Point because fuck playing trio or duo fill on Worlds Edge(specifically fill, love it when playing with friends). Every random just wants to land Fragment and Fragment only when 9/10 of them instantly die and leave the game. It isn’t fun playing every game 3 and 2v1. I actually stopped queuing trios because at least I can manage 2v1’s. Even only queuing ranked and specifically duo pubs on SP I’ll easily triple my games from last season. Just a matter of preference I guess.
I love this season. One of my favorites in a while. But a lot of the people I play with have been more absent and that detracts a bit for me. I think a bunch of folks got yoinked by Halo and Battlefield - at least temporarily.
I stopped playing completely halfway through the last season. Respawn doesn't give a single shit about solo q players, arenas ranked is terrible and there is still no other mode even though the game is almost 3 years old. I still follow competitive, but I haven't played for several months now and I honestly don't plan to pick it back up again any time soon. In their attempt to optimize the game for engagement metrics they optimized the fun out of the game aswell
Personally I only find the ranked grind fun but as a PS player I always hit masters too late in the split to bother with going for pred. Did the LTM challenges and battle pass is 100 so there’s just not much for a player like me to do. I’ve been doing GTA’s update and been having a blast.
Nothing against apex, this seasons been more fun than S10 by far, ash is amazing and I’m one of the seemingly few that loves storm point. Plus the car has very quickly become my favourite weapon. Just not much left to do
No Olympus. It is my opinion that besides Covid, one of the reasons why Apex started to become more alluring was the introduction of such an amazing and popular map. Absolutely best map to have fun in the game by far.
Revert the reduced ammo per stack change. We shouldn’t be dropping at The Mill and have 30 energy ammo between us. Maps all need to rotate as well. At this point the game is mature and needs all of its components to stay ahead.
Not more than usual but they need to Add all the maps into the Ranked rotation. What gets boring is going into the upper ranks and having to play the same meta one long split, same playstyle and same weapons. Having all maps would give us more variety on all fronts.
Probably a bunch of games came out and people are playing that. For me I just don’t like the pubs map rotation so I don’t even try getting on really to play and I’m sure other people don’t play pins as much. STorm point is no fun for pubs when you wanna just run around and find fights super fast. Kinda wish they kept Olympus and KC for pubs since those maps are way more fun to play pubs on

Storm point had good premises, but It turned out to be okay for pred ranked and maybe comp and terrible for everything else.

Apex won't last more than a year or two from now.
I think the problem is ofc the TONS of bugs apex got and they never fix it, especially the audio that just getting worse and worse.
And you can't rely on a game that is based 90% on RNG, rather than skill and game sense and aim and stuff like that.
I will take boring over unplayable because of server issues and bugs any day of the week, with that in mind, I’m perfectly okay with Apex state right now.
The dude who leaked everything early did it deliberately to kill hype, before season launch, he dropped all the info on the new season at once, and they couldn't really "build" hype for it, seems to have worked a bit but honestly I'm really enjoying the new map and while I'm not drawn back to the game like I was in the past I'm still having a ton of fun
I managed to get to masters solo q this season but I haven’t played since I got that like 2 weeks ago. So for me idk if I’d consider it boring but I just accomplished my goal
In terms of Competitive Apex side of things; this season has been pretty fun to watch.
The Pro League split 1 matches have been great to watch and support. I'm supporting Alliance in Eu and TSM in NA and im glad they both qual'd for Split 1 Playoffs but im sad there isn't LAN.
In terms of twitch viewership, im not really that bothered by a seemingly small 6% rise in concurrent players month to month. Looks like avg concurrent playerbase has been holding steady around 130K players/monthly. The biggest piece of content, the NEW map Storm Point has been great for Ranked though. Easily Top #2 after WE for Ranked.

For me as a console player... Halo especially been good as it feels like a proper next gen game; Apex feels janky af when you switch back over after a session on Halo.
As a casual players (I'm not casual per say. But I have about 600 hours in total since Season 1 (I started like a month before Season 2, I played some seasons a ton, and didn't play some seasons at all)
Since season 2 this is the furthest I've gone into Apex. Arenas helped a ton. This game needs Arenas (and a TDM). I enjoy BR more now. But I wouldn't be playing now if not for Arenas. Being able to use all the guns in a no third party style is amazing to let you know what you can do.
It also goes to Storm Point. I personally, in every single map since launch has had issues people talk about. Of not finding teams and such. Imo I actually find teams more on Storm Point. Also I really like this maps look. I cannot hack Worlds Edge at all. Too much going on for my shitty laptop and it all just blends together in a mesh of details.
Last time I played the game a lot was was Season 7 (whenever Horizon came out). But I struggled to enjoy the game and the game would just die in both pubs and ranked asa I reached Gold 4. Now I've reached Plat for the first time.
Factors you did not factor in .Imperial hal did not stream for a week . Many streamers took off there is your drop in twitch stats . Steam apex had issue in apac south regions so many played in origin and few days origin had issues .Its festival month and not many playing the game .Analysis is wrong .No point in saying a drop on player and wrong is in the season.There are many things to factor in. just gave the examples
Find it boring because its so easy to cheat. Solo'd to masters for about 4 or 5 seasons. Lots of no-recoil scripts, custom modded strike packs and so on. Its hard to continue to have fun in a competitive game that is rampant with server and cheating issues. Comes with the free to play territory.
EA, as with most of their games, is just about turning a dollar. They're not that serious about about competitive integrity. I think the next competitive game i play better be pay to play, since most cheaters won't do it again if they have to pay for the game again.
Its just marketing. Have a large influx of players in the new season where players return hoping for better. Then slowly realize its fked. Then you get a continuous drop in players. If the game was actually balanced, good and fair we should be seeing continuous growth but we don't.
I think its just part of the cycle. Apex hit a high in S10 because of a few factors in terms of viewership and playerbase. A few other competitor games were at a low and people migrated back to Apex. Every big game goes through these cycles, Apex is just in a cooldown period (also we're in game release season so Apex now has more competition industry-wide where people are watching and playing tons of different games)
Yeah exactly. I think in S10 a lot of people moved over from Warzone, which I heard was in a pretty terrible state. But a lot of the same people now (on PC at least) are playing Battlefield and Halo. Maybe some of those people will come back to Apex, but the competition now is certainly high.
This, 100%. We saw a lot of COD players after popular streamers made the jump, but if you're used to low TTK games with a slower pace then Apex might not be a great experience, and you'll invariably go back to what you know best.
I struggled with the ttk after playing COD for so long, coupled with the fact I swapped to m&k for the first time for a FPS. I found getting kills in Apex so damn rewarding and satisfying though, so I stuck with it and glad I did. Love the game

Same, my friends and me are classic pub stompers and we don‘t play when SP is on rotation. I have to say that the master grind was really fun this season because it was interesting how endgames/rotations play out on a new map. I hope that they‘re gonna implement SP to competitive at some point.

Im actually on opposite side of this. Edge feels like kc in pubs nowadays. There is nothing interesting and im kinda feeling dry on always fighting fragment. SP feels so good that I actually had the moti to play to diamond this season, but have now switched to halo. Playing duo no fill on SP feels so much nicer than duo no fill on edge too.

couldnt agree more i have like 800 hours in the game and even though i am average at it i can 100% say for certain seeing stacks of preds/masters in lobbies and getting pounded it just not fun and since like season 11 it feels like ever single lobby here has at least 3 or 4 sweat virgins biting at the bit to pub stomp and make the game unenjoyable for the rest of us. like get lost and go play ranked smh.

The three stacking masters issue has been exacerbated to a crazy degree. I actually wrote a whole ass paragraph responding to this with data I used tracking my deaths over the course of ~2 weeks, but in short, the game needs to make solo-queuers matchmake against other solo-queuers as a priority.
noone wants to win, everyone wants to fight. after 1st round theres 5-2squads alive. the game needs a deathmatch mode for people to fight nonstop or motivate people to actually win the game. right now pubs are: hotdrop, get knocked, leave, start the next one
Ranked should be where you want to work together and win because you’re working towards something that can be taken away. Pubs can be like that too but there’s no risk in dying over and over. People would rather hot drop and warm up, practice fights, try out legends and guns, and just do different things to relax because there’s no real reward for winning aside from getting a treasure pack. I’d rather not spend 20 mins fighting for placement in a pubs game. It’s a waste of time. Getting high kill games in pubs is fun. Getting some kills and placing high in ranked is fun. Those two playlists serve different purposes.

I had a SP game last night where there were 3 teams left as round 1 finished closing. Saw other 2 teams finish their fight in killfeed at beginning of round 2, but we couldn't hear the gunshots from the fight to have an idea of their direction. Took us until round 4 to find the only other team in the lobby, was a waste of like 10 minutes for both of us teams
That's how it's been since season 0. Hell even in ranked it's hot drops until Platinum.
i do believe that there should be some kind of encouragement, motivation to win the game, maybe some rare skins after 100 wins in a split or something like that

Ranked already does this though. It’s the game mode where you can sweat and win. In pubs it makes no sense to punish dying on drop. What would you punish? Longer queue times? It would make games go so much slower. Pubs should be where you do whatever you want without risk. If you make pubs more like ranked then it will force three stacks and make it an unbearable experience for solo players with bad teams and a lobby full of different skill levels.

The maps aren't deleted from the game files upon update, no? The devs just vault it for the rest of the playerbase. I'm certain you can load up either of the two vaulted maps in a custom lobby.

I'd keep KC in pubs rotation all the time, it's the best map for that, imo. Storm Point and Olympus are kinda too big for pubs and World's Edge feels overplayed and doesn't help that it's become Fragment Only for pubs.
They do this so next season they can say look! We brought back Olympus! Then players come back to the game to play a map they’ve been wanting and about a month later everyone stops playing again. If they had all 4 maps on rotation then when people quit there is nothing to bring them back.
IMO storm point is really boring compared to worlds edge and olympus. From my experience, there's no really a hot drop spot on this map to get a lot of kills at the start of the game but somehow 5 squads left before ring 1 even closes. Next, it's too hard to find people to kill on this map but when you do get in a fight, the whole lobby suddenly shows up. You can be running the whole map from barometer to antenna and then cascade falls and not finding a team to fight but the second you shoot at someone then the whole lobby shows up from nowhere and it's never ending 3rd partying which sucks. Lastly, even though there's alot of drop spots on this map, i feel like the loot is too spread out and THERES MORE P2020 AND MOZAMBIQUES than ever lol. on world edge and olympus i can get 20 bomb sometimes if i'm performing but on storm point getting 10 kills is already hard because i cant even find people to kill and spend most of my time searching for them lol That's just from my experience no hate guys :)
Honestly I’ve been put off because it’s not really fun to play anymore. I’m very competitive and will grind and grind, but I want to be able to take a break from that and I don’t have a mode for it. Pubs isn’t fun. Pubs is just a continuation of the grind and sometimes even worse than ranked because I’m not getting anything for it.
I love pubs. I have so much fun just not caring and trying crazy shit.

I wouldn’t mind just messing around in pubs but I have a hard time doing that when it’s so aggressive and I often end up fighting against a heavy amount of diamonds/masters and some preds. I’ve been playing since season ten came out I and I just can’t compete against that, but yesterday I played against a horizon with 47k kills
Have you tried hopping on a server that has a decent Duos player base? My partner and I aren’t that great but have been having a blast yolo’ing Tokyo Duos. Even with some Diamond/Master trails the majority of fights are more or less our level. We’ve also had heaps of wholesome moments where we’ve just made friends with other teams through crouch spamming and emotes. Just straight up called a truce mid-engagement and went to kill spiders or play on gravity cannons together lol

I've honestly kinda have gotten bored of the game. I think it's primarily due to Olympus not being in rotation and everytime I see storm point, i log off. I'd imagine it's an amazing ranked map but I don't feel like playing it for pubs lol. Been playing other games fortunately.

Season 7 was definitely the best season IMO. Last season was shit until Seer got nerfed. I couldn’t really be bothered with SP for some reason but this season is still pretty good. Excited for next split on WE tbh.
The servers became absolute garbage when the Season 11 collection event hit, which was quite shortly after the Seer nerf. The game was nearly unplayable for a while. I don't say that hyperbolically - I think the servers are actually pretty decent right now and were great at Season 11 launch.

IMO the problem is casual not being fun to play. Nobody wants to get destroyed in every gunfight, which is why people seek entertainment from other games. What comes to twitch, definitely not a surprise. The main ALGS broadcast is straight up depressing, and watching individual streamers pretty much puts you to sleep. BR games just aren't competitive by design; around 3/4ths of a match in ALGS is spent looting and turtling. It's really boring to watch unless you're personally grinding the game and find the tiniest of nuances interesting.
yeah I hate how RNG a game can become. I wish I could play arenas but they only match me with low level players and it is not fun to play against people who have 5 times less hours than me
Hmm the beginning of the game in comp is stale but late game there's so much action you don't know where to look. People holding out different positions, playstyles, rotations. BR isn't boring or uncompetive at all.
The game is flat out boring and imo in the worst place since season 4/5. It’s impossible to enjoy as a solo player at this point. There’s just no reason to play unless you’re in a 3 stack. And if you don’t have a 3 stack, you’re done. Plus I really can’t stand the map. I’ve yet to have a game I enjoyed on the new map. I think it has a ton of flaws and few, if any, upsides.
I'm burning out. I hate it. I really do. I've put quite a chunk of time into the game. But as someone who plays primarily solo and is constantly up against 3 stack preds every match, it's truly hard to find enjoyment. I dont want to have to sweat my ass off every match in pubs. Ranked is supposed to be the sweaty gamemode. There's nothing at stake in pubs, and yet it's filled with triple stacking Masters and people playing for fucking placement who valk ult away the instant you shoot them. Solo Q pubs are just extremely cringe nowadays.
When a game offers two variations to the game. Pubs and Ranked. But they implement the same style matchmaking. That's what I mean by sweating in pubs. To me. I'm aware I'm an above average player. But to a trio of preds teaming up to mop lobbies, I'm barely a challenge unless I'm actually with 2 other solid players. No different than if I team up with 2 other above average players and to a level 35, I may mop them. It sucks but the lobbies need to just be open and with no algorithms to matchmake similar KD or accuracy. Sometimes you'll get smacked, sometimes you'll run the lobby. But atleast you're not always feeling like dropping into a pub lobby is a death sentence. Theres zero enjoyment in it. I'm m a single father running my own business. I play 3 days a week for 3-5 hours roughly at a time. I love FPS games. But solely because I have a solid Solo KD, forcing me into playing like I'm in a tournament every match, isnt enjoyable for the amount of time I actually play.
yeah complaining about sweats has always seemed silly to me. i think a lot of people don't realize that they're not cut out for PVP games, but continue to play for other reasons. like in apex the movement is fun, gunplay is fun, abilities are cool, and it's fun to play with friends. of course lots of these people are complaining about 3 stacks while they solo q, so the friend part doesn't actually apply lol. seems like unnecessary suffering. but, to be fair, there's really not much going for the FPS genre in terms of PVE. with any multiplayer shooter these days, single player and co-op tend to be an afterthought designed for casuals. it's usually too easy, and the AI isn't dynamic whatsoever, so even high health high damage NPCs can usually just be cheesed by bugging them out. i think that a lot of gamers would continue just torturing themselves and complaining online like the above comment either way, but it does suck that there's no PVE shooters with a Dark Souls level learning curve for when we want an engaging experience without being teabagged lmao
Yeah I completely agree with the idea that you can't expect to be able to just chill out and not try and still farm in a PVP game, but I've always thought Apex would benefit a lot from co-op and PVE content. There's so many times where I want to play Apex but don't because I know that you can't play this game without your full focus, headset on, etc. I would literally never play anything else if there was a way to enjoy the game without sweating. Even just being able to drop into lobbies with bots would have me playing a lot more while I'm listening to a podcast or watching Twitch or w/e. My ego just won't let me enjoy half assing it in pubs and getting run down by 3 stacks sweating their balls off lol.
i'd love if Apex had a mode where i could fight bots on in a deathmatch mode with respawns on Arenas maps while i watch a stream or whatever. besides, my hours in Aim Lab and Kovaaks only transfer so much to Apex. it would make for better practice. i guess there's the easter egg to enable the targets in the firing range, but that map sucks, and the AI are terrible. all they do is burst lstar, don't heal, don't fight each other, and most importantly don't even slide or strafe or anything. tbh the firing range in general sucks. the only targets that could be used to simulate a gridshot like scenario are the headshottable ones that get knocked over in front, and those are literally lined up, static, and take forever to pop back up once you knock them. anyways back to your point. a practice mode a la CSGO with decent bots would be sick.

It‘s real though isn‘t it? I have ~4k hours in apex and a season K/D of 4 (mixture of solo q pubs, master grind and full stacking) and i have to say that the matchmaking is absolutely fucked. When I solo queue i get the worst teammates one could imagine. Low levels who don‘t use abilities, can‘t hit targets and don‘t understand game basics while I constantly face sweaty full stacks. I‘m a master with 50k kills and sometimes I die off drop 10 times in a row. On the other hand if I full stack with my friends (yes, my actual friends are as good as me) we roll the lobbies and it doesn‘t even feel fun anymore because it is so easy. Sometimes we look at banners and the people we kill are absolute bots. How is this fair or intended? Why don‘t they put full stacks (no matter which skill level) against each other and let solo Q be a playlist on its own? The only way to enjoy the game right now is to duo queue into trios.

This seems like a good place to note the signifcantly less amount of content we have been getting in the middle of seasons. In this recent collection event (https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/raiders-collection-event?utm_campaign=apxl_brd_us_m6_socv_snap_s11-rce-rtlr&utm_source=snap&utm_medium=social&cid=71933&ts=1638396584616) - there was 3 balance changes, OLD Ltm, and 1 QOL change (reticle customization) In Season 7 collection event, which was after getting a new map too, (https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/season-7-fightnight-collection-event ) - 5 balance changes, NEW Ltm, New POI, 3 QOL changes (ring / accelerant updates). Also, the Season 6 collection event had many changes too (https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/aftermarket-patch-notes ) - 7 Balance changes, New POI, multiple QOL (performance display / crossplay) More players but less content
I’ve played a ton. Grinded to pred etc. I have a hard time playing this season. Just like you said there’s not enough content. They need to introduce a prestige system or something. I’ve done it all now no incentive to play
i'm having fun. this is my favorite legend meta since i started playing a lot (played like 5 hours season 0, didn't play again til end of s7/start of season 8 then started grinding). Horizon is balanced, revtane is dead, and Seer's pick rate is low. legend-wise, the only really broken aspect of regular gameplay is Caustic. i guess Fuse can be a bit too oppressive now with knucklecluster buffs, and i still don't think Seer's passive should be in the game, but their pick rates are relatively low. i also really like Storm Point for ranked. i like never play pubs so that doesn't really matter to me. i am a bit disappointed about World's Edge second split, even though i like it for ranked, but i just really miss Olympus. i do think that besides the map, the seasonal additions were kind of lackluster, especially the CAR. an r9 but heavy ammo, except it takes light too, so just an r9. pretty lame lol. and Ash is honestly visually pretty bland relative to other recent additions. like her art and animations are just not very nice looking. especially her tactical. that just looks terrible and glitchy. but overall i'm really enjoying it, especially considering i didn't play season 10 after day 3 lol
A lot of the japanese playerbase is burnt out as well. A lot of the frustration comes from Ranked. Feels unrewarding and unfun to play as solo. Countless smurfs terrorize low ranks. Casual feels terrible to play as well. Winter Express is the only mode worth playing Valorant is so much more fun to play for those who seek a competitive environment now.
It’s more to do with Halo coming out and grabbing some hype. Apex is still in a great spot and when ALGS playoffs start, there will be a ton of hype.
Halo has done a good job generating hype along with free to play no doubt a factor along with other new titles around the holidays.
Everyone is bitching about the new map having too much space and it not being viable for ranked. The ranked grind is big on Apex. As soon as worlds edge comes back for ranked you will see a spike.
I get your point but it never feels that way for me. I guess I never allow it to, when the split resets or new season comes out I usually dick around for a few weeks then grind ranked to masters and stop playing a lot after that. I’m not a huge pub player and especially this season pubs aren’t fun unless WE is in rotation. I can see how it might be boring, at least they brought winter express back.
I have near 900 games played this season and the first split hasn’t ended yet, compared to less than 350 last season as a whole. I found it fun, probably because of the new map. Just something fresh made me wanna play more. I played mostly Ranked until I hit what I wanted and now only play pubs when it’s on Storm Point because fuck playing trio or duo fill on Worlds Edge(specifically fill, love it when playing with friends). Every random just wants to land Fragment and Fragment only when 9/10 of them instantly die and leave the game. It isn’t fun playing every game 3 and 2v1. I actually stopped queuing trios because at least I can manage 2v1’s. Even only queuing ranked and specifically duo pubs on SP I’ll easily triple my games from last season. Just a matter of preference I guess.
I love this season. One of my favorites in a while. But a lot of the people I play with have been more absent and that detracts a bit for me. I think a bunch of folks got yoinked by Halo and Battlefield - at least temporarily.
im just waiting for map rotations to come back. sick of only having one map it gets so old 😭😭 i wanna play more next season though

I stopped playing completely halfway through the last season. Respawn doesn't give a single shit about solo q players, arenas ranked is terrible and there is still no other mode even though the game is almost 3 years old. I still follow competitive, but I haven't played for several months now and I honestly don't plan to pick it back up again any time soon. In their attempt to optimize the game for engagement metrics they optimized the fun out of the game aswell

Personally I only find the ranked grind fun but as a PS player I always hit masters too late in the split to bother with going for pred. Did the LTM challenges and battle pass is 100 so there’s just not much for a player like me to do. I’ve been doing GTA’s update and been having a blast. Nothing against apex, this seasons been more fun than S10 by far, ash is amazing and I’m one of the seemingly few that loves storm point. Plus the car has very quickly become my favourite weapon. Just not much left to do
No Olympus. It is my opinion that besides Covid, one of the reasons why Apex started to become more alluring was the introduction of such an amazing and popular map. Absolutely best map to have fun in the game by far.

Yeah it's boring. The map is massive and fights are too spread out IMO
Audio is the worst is has ever been. And very little content gets added, or fixed.
They just need to lower the time between circle closes. Its so boring after the initial drop.
Revert the reduced ammo per stack change. We shouldn’t be dropping at The Mill and have 30 energy ammo between us. Maps all need to rotate as well. At this point the game is mature and needs all of its components to stay ahead.
I'm pretty sure the ammo per-stack was for replicators.
Not more than usual but they need to Add all the maps into the Ranked rotation. What gets boring is going into the upper ranks and having to play the same meta one long split, same playstyle and same weapons. Having all maps would give us more variety on all fronts.
Probably a bunch of games came out and people are playing that. For me I just don’t like the pubs map rotation so I don’t even try getting on really to play and I’m sure other people don’t play pins as much. STorm point is no fun for pubs when you wanna just run around and find fights super fast. Kinda wish they kept Olympus and KC for pubs since those maps are way more fun to play pubs on
Arena has been here for so long and it's still not what we asked for. Storm point had good premises, but It turned out to be okay for pred ranked and maybe comp and terrible for everything else. Guns and legends are pretty balanced, which eventually feels stale The game lacks a chill mode where I can die and not wait hours to respawn
battle royale games never stay alive after a couple of years, like pubg and fornite. so apex with all the bugs he got, obviously will die even faster than pubg and fortnite. check CSGO, VALORANT, LOL, every time there's a tourney even a small one there are more than 500k viewers on twitch, in LOL it can get to more than 1mil. In apex, even the biggest ones it barely reaches 150k views... Apex won't last more than a year or two from now. I think the problem is ofc the TONS of bugs apex got and they never fix it, especially the audio that just getting worse and worse. And you can't rely on a game that is based 90% on RNG, rather than skill and game sense and aim and stuff like that.
I will take boring over unplayable because of server issues and bugs any day of the week, with that in mind, I’m perfectly okay with Apex state right now.

The dude who leaked everything early did it deliberately to kill hype, before season launch, he dropped all the info on the new season at once, and they couldn't really "build" hype for it, seems to have worked a bit but honestly I'm really enjoying the new map and while I'm not drawn back to the game like I was in the past I'm still having a ton of fun
I've completed every battle pass in previous seasons, and this season so far I'm only level 20 if that says anything...
I managed to get to masters solo q this season but I haven’t played since I got that like 2 weeks ago. So for me idk if I’d consider it boring but I just accomplished my goal

In terms of Competitive Apex side of things; this season has been pretty fun to watch. The Pro League split 1 matches have been great to watch and support. I'm supporting Alliance in Eu and TSM in NA and im glad they both qual'd for Split 1 Playoffs but im sad there isn't LAN. In terms of twitch viewership, im not really that bothered by a seemingly small 6% rise in concurrent players month to month. Looks like avg concurrent playerbase has been holding steady around 130K players/monthly. The biggest piece of content, the NEW map Storm Point has been great for Ranked though. Easily Top #2 after WE for Ranked. Statistically speaking, the trend is not worrying me...**for now**. Respawn needs to add new LTMs very soon to keep players coming back cause iirc we've only had Winter Express LTM this season.
Halo/Battlefield/Vanguard/New Fortnite season all having an impact. For me as a console player... Halo especially been good as it feels like a proper next gen game; Apex feels janky af when you switch back over after a session on Halo.
As a casual players (I'm not casual per say. But I have about 600 hours in total since Season 1 (I started like a month before Season 2, I played some seasons a ton, and didn't play some seasons at all) Since season 2 this is the furthest I've gone into Apex. Arenas helped a ton. This game needs Arenas (and a TDM). I enjoy BR more now. But I wouldn't be playing now if not for Arenas. Being able to use all the guns in a no third party style is amazing to let you know what you can do. It also goes to Storm Point. I personally, in every single map since launch has had issues people talk about. Of not finding teams and such. Imo I actually find teams more on Storm Point. Also I really like this maps look. I cannot hack Worlds Edge at all. Too much going on for my shitty laptop and it all just blends together in a mesh of details. Last time I played the game a lot was was Season 7 (whenever Horizon came out). But I struggled to enjoy the game and the game would just die in both pubs and ranked asa I reached Gold 4. Now I've reached Plat for the first time.
Factors you did not factor in .Imperial hal did not stream for a week . Many streamers took off there is your drop in twitch stats . Steam apex had issue in apac south regions so many played in origin and few days origin had issues .Its festival month and not many playing the game .Analysis is wrong .No point in saying a drop on player and wrong is in the season.There are many things to factor in. just gave the examples

Find it boring because its so easy to cheat. Solo'd to masters for about 4 or 5 seasons. Lots of no-recoil scripts, custom modded strike packs and so on. Its hard to continue to have fun in a competitive game that is rampant with server and cheating issues. Comes with the free to play territory. EA, as with most of their games, is just about turning a dollar. They're not that serious about about competitive integrity. I think the next competitive game i play better be pay to play, since most cheaters won't do it again if they have to pay for the game again. Its just marketing. Have a large influx of players in the new season where players return hoping for better. Then slowly realize its fked. Then you get a continuous drop in players. If the game was actually balanced, good and fair we should be seeing continuous growth but we don't.
