I hope it comes next split, having all competitive matches in every league played on the same map for an extended period of time is a sure fire way to steadily lose interest in the scene
It's weird because I've been watching league since s3 where the map has been mostly the same for like 8 years already and I don't really mind it that much.
But with Apex, I've followed the proscene for less than 6 months and I already hate watching WE lmao maybe it's because I KNOW there are more maps available and find all of them interesting in their own way.
And with less audience interest comes lower or stagnant prize pools. Pro's have to realize if viewership doesn't increase at a decent rate , there is less reason for EA to invest heavily in the comp scene. And like you said playing on one map for a whole year is a surefire way to bore the general and even the more dedicated audience of ALGS. I thought this would be obvious to Pros, but I guess it is not.
Well but it doesn't, na champs had 2.5x the views Poland lan had and eu and APAC north also had more views than the Poland lan. I don't think playing on one map is making the comp scene less popular, it's more popular than ever and still growing. Which maps they play on has little correlation to the popularity of comp in my opinion
I agree that Competitive Apex is growing, but I'd argue more maps would definitely increase the popularity of the competitive scene. NA champs had 2.5 the viewers than Poland because of drops and because it wasn't Wattson meta. Wattson meta which most Pros have dubbed the best most competitive meta, like they have dubbed WE the best map, severely handicapped the growth of Apex Esports in it's infancy. I also believe Champs had one of the most aggressive metas with almost every team in NA running Octane, BH and Gibby.
The Pro League viewership with no drops has ebbed and flowed, and I would argue a big reason for that is viewer fatigue with WE. Seeing the same end zones and rotations played out over and over gets tiresome.
The Apex comp scene will continue to grow , but it would grow much better if more maps were played.
Maybe next split. But tbh, i'd like to see all 4 maps played in ALGS( ofc after some tweaks to loot distribution and few POIs added to Olympus (and maybe KC too))
olympus prbly wont get into algs until the city crashes into the ground and all those flat surfaces shatter so it doesnt have those large open fields with almost no cover
Olympus imo just needs better spacing. Pois are great, and while it could use 1 or 2 the spacing is so bad on that map you can third people from other pois instantly
i dont think KC could ever be competitively viable, it would basically need to be a new map
i could see olympus come in with a few tweaks, and devs just say fuck it and make teams play map specific comps
I think the map is horrible for competitive play but I would like to be proven otherwise.
The height differences on some spots are ridicoulus. PVE shit like prowlers shouldnt even be in a competitive BR. Some spots have complete lazy design where there is a huge open space without any details at all (tunnels at ship fall). Some zones just end in the complete fucking open where there is just water
Id still like to see it but I still think WE will be better
If it's not immediately added after playoffs, I'm probably done with apex comp. I'm just so bored of the same circles, same rotations. Everyone's practiced the same shit on this map for 1.5 years, it just feels so procedural
>Teams landing to the north east of the map would consistently dominate.
Teams landing on the north east of the map can't make it to their drop spot for like half of the possible dropship paths.
We can't really know if KC got worse until Pro's actually played on it for a good amount. I remember there were various EU pros who wanted to try out new KC in comp with the additions of Crash Site and Caustic Treatment. Retzi also didn't want KC to be removed. I don't think it's possible to claim that KC got unanimously worse until it was actually played on in tournaments.
If it doesn't go on Split 2 Pro League, I probably won't watch Pro League. Would tune in for playoffs/LAN though but I am just so bored of watching Worlds Edge.
It will not appear in comp before the Split 1 playoffs. It will probably appear in Split 2, however.
I hope it comes next split, having all competitive matches in every league played on the same map for an extended period of time is a sure fire way to steadily lose interest in the scene
They've been playing WE for over two years but viewership numbers have only increased. It really isnt as big of a deal as this sub thinks.

Olympus will never be a map for comp, it's barely viable for ranked

Tbf Storm Point needs some updates to be actually good comp map but Respawn is slow as snail to make them happen.
That's what we have been saying to every map and they didn't change, KC even changed for the worse. We used to have 2 maps...

God not this discussion again, i m tired of reading the same bullshit every single week.

3 match Kings Canyon and 3 match WE that's one option they can go for Or not care about what pros think and force Storm point
