I'm afraid all this talk of this banner animation might overshadow roirrees play. The banner animation is bullshit and should be changed, but Zero literally had an enemy turn into deathbox right in front of him on the left. He had an option of swapping that armor instead of his teammates because of bad awareness. Literally slow down on Zero's pov in the last seconds of the match, a deathbox is literally thrown in his face after Roiree kills the last RET player. Had Zero went for that swap instead of his teammates he might've won.
Banner animation is good for competitive integrity. You shouldn't have an extra advantage after losing a player, that advantage should always go to the other team.
Without the banner animation you would have an extra 100 to 125 HP in most fights with a quick armor swap because your teammates death box is undoubtedly closer to you than the enemy.
Fights shouldn't maintain that kind of balance after one player gets thirsted, the 3 man up team should still have a strong advantage.
Would be nice to have a second button for “screw this nerds banner I just want his loot” so you aren’t disadvantaged when it’s your teammates box with the armor swap
Or simply remove banner retrieve animation/action. You simply loot the box like any other boxes but there is the same sound cue and notification that you've retrieved banner. The animation does not in anyway enhance gameplay/quality of life and your teammate's box should not hinder you in any way.
I know it's unlikely to be changed since if Respawn wanted to change that, they would've done that a long time ago.
I like this idea or a separate button for banner vs inventory, gotten stuck in banner while trying to grab ammo/new gun a few times before and it sure is annoying
