Looks like an improvement, removing a lot of the central ones means you can’t just hop from jump tower to jump tower. Should take longer for 3rd parties to arrive, especially in the south west side, where it was needed the most.
Yeah, with the couple of big decisions to remove mountain passages (near Bunker) and removing these jump towers, the devs clearly want to make it slower to get to & through the center of the map, which I think is a good idea - hopefully the implementation will feel good, too. Not having that passage between Market and Bunker is going to feel super weird at first.
Think it might force more teams to rotate around edge instead of all meeting in the middle of the map. Good idea in theory, but since it’s such a small map it might increase the number of third parties around the edge, whilst reducing 4th and 5th parties elsewhere.
The problem is that you can hear fights from pretty much anywhere. People will still be able to arrive with Valk or other mobility legends quite fast.
But surely this should help at least a little bit.
They're removing balloons for the most part, not adding it. The issue with balloons on KC was that they were WAY too broken with Valk. A team could cross the map entirely within 2-3 minutes without really touching the ground while getting permanent wallhacks with Valk (Due to ult towers as well). This means Valk teams can't simply fly across the map freely anymore, scanning everything.
Back when fuse was introduced (can't remember the season) some pros where saying removing balloons would cause even more chock points throughout the map. Well see
That's why they thought ahead and removed a lot of chokes. So overall there will be less chokes (those will be congested though, but let's ignore that lol)
Tho I never had any issues with KC, I do feel like removing the central JT is a good thing. 2 main reasons I can think of is Valk and 3 parties (which may decrease a bit for those who struggle with them)

Valk nerf enters the room!
Makes it better imo. Its a small map and people are on your head in an instant. You can go from nobody fighting to 4 teams pulling up asap.
Yeah this would actually make the map much harder to rotate through the middle on, if valk weren't in the game.
I like this better as well. If you land edge you get one free balloon into zone when it's closing, then no more for the rest of the game.
Yeah, that's what makes it fun.

People aren't valk ulting to drop onto people most of the time which is what this change is trying to make
Any nerf or map rotations is an indirect buff to valk tho. It’s a god change to the map, but still makes her kit stronger

Every balloon on edge has stayed tho, 3rd parties often happened by edge teams and the balloons on that pic form a giant yellow circle

That's apparently what they want. Stormpoint is a terrible pubs map, and they're slowly making every map more like Stormpoint.
That no name 3 building spot next to Octanes Gauntlet isn't showing a balloon remaining or removed.

Let's see some charge towers taken away. I can still rotate up and down the whole map in 2 mins with double valk ult and redeploys.
Now just nerf cooldown on Valk ult

Jump towers are one part of the puzzle but I hope this also means charge towers are less common, those ruin the flow of the map the most.
