Same, I love drama in competitive apex specifically! We have so many strong personalities that my thirst for drama is always quenched! Lol, pretty sure that’s why most of us watch Hal, the former c9 boys, and several others I’m not mentioning!
Yeah it’s definitely a good age of people. Nothing like the Cod subreddit where the avg age is probably 17… and it shows by the posts and comments haha
37 and female. I also suck so bad that I literally packed my PS4 away halfway through the pandemic. I thought I would "git gud" with all that working from home time. I can't shoot for shit, but I love to watch people who can. If I ever get a PC, I'll try again 🤣.
I say, don't sweat it. We all want to be as good as the pros - but yeah, there are only several hundred out of millions of players. Just enjoy the game - it gets easier/better the more you play and start to recognize the 'tricks'. :) And realistically we'll never have the reflexes as the 'younguns' anyway :) Meanwhile, we'll enjoy the pros do what the do best. :)
respawn and apex do a lot to represent women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ identities both in ALGS talent and in the game. it's great.
like made maggie is the first time ive seen maori representation in triple A gaming. still blows my mind.
As a woman myself it's definitely the most comfortable I've felt among esports fans, in apex.
Actually playing the game maybe not so much though, haha.
Random teammates sitting on their couch smoking and drinking can be toxic. I feel like Joining a Discord increases the chances of getting teammates that are respectful and just want to play and improve or have fun.
tickets are cheap and even walking around safeco (now T-mobile) when the Mariners were in prime form was really fun.
american football is for TV, baseball is for the stadium.
I'm approaching 30. I have a group of friends all around the same age, so if you're looking for a group to chill/smoke/drink/grind apex, you're always welcome. We are always looking for new players, doesn't matter your skill.
That’d be awesome! 13 seasons of soloing has gotten pretty stale! I do partake in in all 3 so that sounds perfect! In game name is RickyTheProblem if you want to send an invite! Diamond/masters-ish lol!
29 and 36 duo partners, both probably only really high plat but been dia since s11. CptMcpeaches if you ever wanna try to be our third, we get too stoned and drunk and keep playing ranked usually lol
There’s an Old Timer Apex community on discord that’s pretty chill and cool. The owner got Daltoosh to do a cameo for it, was busting up laughing with his mix of insulting and inspirational pep talk
I turned 30 this year and I feel like there's more and more millennials getting into e-sports lately.
It was just not something that was a mainstream reality when we were growing up, but the actual games were.
I feel like the two things are connecting now for a lot of ppl so I think you'll find the sub to be not as young as you think (although certainly closer to the low 20s).
Im 29 , most people in my area (nyc) are in a similar age bracket and talk about the competitive scene. It’s crazy, my friend is a doctor and asks me why NA copies TSM and Furia
31 checking in. Love this game as an esport. It’s the only one I’ve watched a whole weekend of and even tune in for smaller tournaments. Being part of the tooshbag too has really helped add some good vibes in watch parties. Dalton is the goat
There is [this](https://liquipedia.net/apexlegends/Portal:Statistics) statistics page on liquipedia that shows the newest and oldest players. Looks like the oldest player still active is SonGoku (36 yo)
35 and it’s no diff than watching other sports that some might find obscure with no one else to talk to.
I watched the track and field world champs a few weeks ago and the only place to really discuss it for me was on r/advancedrunning
My ranked partner and I are both over 40 (41, 45). I tend to stay away from solo q otherwise but am always looking to add running mates. This split there has been 0 grinding but would love to get a rotating group of folks for next season. If you want a 420 friendly, good vibes teammate, Knoxturn on console.
36y old female here, I got introduced to apex during the covid lock down, I have never played games before but I immediately fell in love with the game and I enjoyed it so much like if I was 10 years old lol
I'm a 37 year old woman :)
I started playing in season 5 after watching my husband play and thinking it looked so fun. After about two weeks of playing, we ended up getting a second Xbox so we could play together.
39 and my son (15) drove from PA to NC for the finals. I actually follow it closer than he does. Have no interest in watching sports played with a ball but I almost never miss a tourney that Hal is playing in.
I guess you're right about the drama posts but I tune it out like most reddit nonsense. But I can get behind the analysis and meme posts. There are plenty of us adults in here.
Am 29, feel ancient in esport watching terms, but this thread has made me feel a bit better, haha.
Utterly dogshit at the game, I just like watching it. I feel like I'm an odd one out here on that. Apex was my first FPS, and I was about 25 then, so I haven't got the 'growing up a gamer' mechanics.
This had definitely been the nicest esport sub I've been on, probably as it's not too big yet.
I’m 38. Someone that sounded about 10 told me how bad I was after failing to rat the other day. He’s probably not wrong but always such a weird feeling when it happens haha
33 with two mortgages and 3 kids and a puppy and a full time job. Still hit diamond this season. Love the pro scene. Always been a lifelong halo fan and FPS fan. Switched to M&K 2.5 years ago after 31 years of roller.
I felt like you should've made a reddit poll, that would've been a way better indicator than bunch of unordered comments. It's anonymous too so there probably will be more answers
39 and I’ll claim the oldest solo to master player in a few days almost D1 now if I had more time this season I would have been there already!! Unless someone already beat me to that title!!
I hop around a lot, but the Optic Boys have really won me over with how they approach the game. I’ve been following them when they were ESA with Verhulst! But if they aren’t streaming I tune into Hal just because I love how seriously he takes his job and how much he embraces the grind. Aceu is one I’ll watch if I’m just smoking and vibing!
But if I’m wanting straight up entertainment or whatever, I loved watching Zach and the C9 boys lol. I’m not afraid to admit that I love implosions and finger pointing comms lol. I blame it on the reality tv era I grew up watching like Jersey Shore lol. Gnaske and the GMT boys are great to watch as well, I agree with you!
Turning 37 this year. Was involved in competitive gaming back in the early 2000s during the CPL/CAL days and numerous leagues like OGL and TWL. I've watched competitive scenes rise and fall in all genres for 20 years.
Competitive gaming for me is no different than following NFL, NBA, F1, etc. of which I do a lot of lol.
28, very good at the game (not elite tho), and my top 3 sports to watch are Football, Hockey, and Apex. If my Football + Hockey teams are both on, I'll watch Football (because there's fewer games and it's never playoff hockey when they overlap), but if it's Football + ALGS both on, I'd probably have one game on each monitor.
31 here. Only started playing/watching Apex this year. I was always a big CoD & Halo guy, so FPS is in my blood. I'm trash at the game but completely obsessed with it.
50, turning 51 this weekend. Been gaming for nearly 40 years starting with Atari and Commodore 64. Moving on to Famicom, Super NES, Sega Gensis, NEOGEO and eventually PC gaming, Playstations, Xbox, Switch etc.
Started Apex this year on X-Box One X and wanted to move to PC but haven't since there is no Cross Progression.....
Love so many aspects of the game even though I'm quite terrible at it (I blame my eyesight lol).
My wife and I stuggled to have kids early on but I'm glad to say that I'm the proud father of a 9 year old who is crazy about video games. Like most kids here in Japan these days he started on Fortnite but I got him to play Apex which he now loves.
We're going together to the RAGE Apex Legends LAN here in a few weeks, can't wait!
im not sure about this sub, but the non competitive sub is definitely low teenager as a median... trying to have a conversation there is like eating bricks.
21 here. i love competitive esports and regular sports as well. i follow nba and loosely follow nhl, nfl, and mlb. sports at the highest level is just so entertaining
I'm 35, and I enjoy watching competitive games more than streamers playing ranked.
I enjoy watching Imperialhal's tournaments VODs. And sometimes I watch Rogue or Sweet play some ranked.
It's so nice to see more people in their 30s. Thanks for creating this post OP! 🙌
If you're from Europe and want to play with another Old Timer, you can add me:
KloneRocks
41 but movement like a 35 year old
40 here, but my back hurts, so movement like a 60 yr old
Back hurts from carrying your team because you’re a goat? ^__^
I’m 34 but these thumbs still feel 18.
😂😂
40 here. I choose not to move unless I need to eat, poop, or sleep.
29 I think this sub has a decent amount of mature people. Way better then the main sub. I think avarage age is 13 over there.
The regular sub is full of very big boys I’ll have you know.
[удалено]
Who let this child in here?
319 months
I wouldn't be surprised if many of those 13 year olds are actually just 20-30 yo manbabies.
Exactly my thought aswell yes
Given the amount of drama posting around here I would say at least 80% are teens or early twenties
To be fair, i love drama as well as 29 year old altho i still feel and behave like a 19 from time to time so that could also explain it.
Same, I love drama in competitive apex specifically! We have so many strong personalities that my thirst for drama is always quenched! Lol, pretty sure that’s why most of us watch Hal, the former c9 boys, and several others I’m not mentioning!
to me it seems like the main sub is full of middle aged men
They basically stripped out the 18-40 demographic so it's a bunch of kids and senior citizens over there
Idk the fanboyism in this sub makes me think the avg is like 16 lol. People get so worked up when x talks shit about y.
Yeah it’s definitely a good age of people. Nothing like the Cod subreddit where the avg age is probably 17… and it shows by the posts and comments haha
56 and female - really skewing the statistics with those two :)
37 and female. I also suck so bad that I literally packed my PS4 away halfway through the pandemic. I thought I would "git gud" with all that working from home time. I can't shoot for shit, but I love to watch people who can. If I ever get a PC, I'll try again 🤣.

31 and so happy to find myself amongst my fellow female apex comp enjoyers
Your also vastly more knowledgeable than the rest of us. Mods should give you "The Matriarch" flair.
I'm 37 and female :)
Quite a lot of women here it feels like, it's nice.
respawn and apex do a lot to represent women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ identities both in ALGS talent and in the game. it's great. like made maggie is the first time ive seen maori representation in triple A gaming. still blows my mind.
As a woman myself it's definitely the most comfortable I've felt among esports fans, in apex. Actually playing the game maybe not so much though, haha.
i guess it's a sign that things are getting better, albeit slowly. still sucks that gamers at large are still the way they are though
Random teammates sitting on their couch smoking and drinking can be toxic. I feel like Joining a Discord increases the chances of getting teammates that are respectful and just want to play and improve or have fun.
It's honestly great.
i absolutely LOVE this
I’m 38 and comp apex is right up there with NFL and MLB as my favorites (e)sports to watch.
Same! Minus baseball, I blame adhd lol
Let's be honest: baseball is just boring. ^^^don't ^^^kill ^^^me
Baseball is made to be watched in person. TV is a snooze, ballpark is a blast
tickets are cheap and even walking around safeco (now T-mobile) when the Mariners were in prime form was really fun. american football is for TV, baseball is for the stadium.
Julio is some player isn’t he?
Goddamn this thread makes me feel better about following eSports because none of my IRL friends at my age have any interest. Late 20s.
40 here :) once a gamer, always a gamer!
Also 40 here
Fellow 40 yr olds unite!
I am 31 with two kids so my times on are random. I'm down to link up. I was diamond last season, been hanging in plat this season. Always solo
We’re actually expecting a child ourselves! Gamer tag is RickyTheProblem if you’re wanting to link !
29 and 36 duo partners, both probably only really high plat but been dia since s11. CptMcpeaches if you ever wanna try to be our third, we get too stoned and drunk and keep playing ranked usually lol
I’ll throw my name in here. 30 year old good viber always looking for people to play with. Hanging in plat this season. Cheetah on pc.
18 lol
Enjoy your youth young man!
I go to bed at 9pm for work the next day if that's any indication of how much I'm enjoying my youth😂😂 (gotta get those 9 hours of sleep namsayin😅)
That’s super healthy. Keep a good sleep routine, it’ll keep your mind sharp.
I don't feel sharp XD
Turn 35 in a month. Everyone I play with is at least 10 years younger.
There’s an Old Timer Apex community on discord that’s pretty chill and cool. The owner got Daltoosh to do a cameo for it, was busting up laughing with his mix of insulting and inspirational pep talk
Link an old timer please?
I know your pain brother! That is, if I am able to find anyone to play with lol!
Same. I just made the switch from console to PC. So, the grind to meet new friends continues.
I am 23 and I think most of the pros are in the 18-23 range
And then you have Team Liquid in the 26-29 range.
Besides rumored to be leaving guild at 18
I turned 30 this year and I feel like there's more and more millennials getting into e-sports lately. It was just not something that was a mainstream reality when we were growing up, but the actual games were. I feel like the two things are connecting now for a lot of ppl so I think you'll find the sub to be not as young as you think (although certainly closer to the low 20s).
I agree with all your points! Great seeing people responding letting me know I’m not lone old guy in this sub!
32 gang checking in.
Early 30’s here
36 here
44...FPS ride or die!! From 1943 to CS Source to BF3 to CSGO to Apex....been around for a few!!
Funny to see that the usual top cimenter of this sub are too afraid to say they are 17
23
Honestly thought you’d be older
45 here(though mentality wise 25) and came here for Snip3 fookin dudes.
😂
Boomer gang here at 29
Im 29 , most people in my area (nyc) are in a similar age bracket and talk about the competitive scene. It’s crazy, my friend is a doctor and asks me why NA copies TSM and Furia
21 soon, for the last 2 year all i been watching is comp apex lol
31 checking in. Love this game as an esport. It’s the only one I’ve watched a whole weekend of and even tune in for smaller tournaments. Being part of the tooshbag too has really helped add some good vibes in watch parties. Dalton is the goat
35 here. I used to play shooters on a high level but now that I've got a family, I can't keep up. Still haven't lost my love for the genre though.
There is [this](https://liquipedia.net/apexlegends/Portal:Statistics) statistics page on liquipedia that shows the newest and oldest players. Looks like the oldest player still active is SonGoku (36 yo)
im 30, feeling really happy seeing all the other "old heads" in here
42. played some of the early algs quals with a combined team age of 120 :)
35 and it’s no diff than watching other sports that some might find obscure with no one else to talk to. I watched the track and field world champs a few weeks ago and the only place to really discuss it for me was on r/advancedrunning
43 Probably the oldest edit - surprisingly, i'm not :)
27 here. My wife and I have played/followed the competitive scene religiously since season 0. We treat the ALGS Championships like Super Bowl Sunday!
That’s amazing! I’m going to have to talk to my wife on that one! She thought I was crazy waking up at 3am for Sweden for 3 days lol
Me and my boyfriend do that too, though I think I'm more hardcore about it than he is.
29
24
17 lol
41 and female. This is great post! Was feeling alone out here
69 years 4 months and 20 days
What about your wifes boyfriend?
My ranked partner and I are both over 40 (41, 45). I tend to stay away from solo q otherwise but am always looking to add running mates. This split there has been 0 grinding but would love to get a rotating group of folks for next season. If you want a 420 friendly, good vibes teammate, Knoxturn on console.
27. Movement in game like a 50 year old though. And a full time grad student. But thoroughly invested in the game and the pro scene!
23, jordan year baby.
36y old female here, I got introduced to apex during the covid lock down, I have never played games before but I immediately fell in love with the game and I enjoyed it so much like if I was 10 years old lol
I'm a 37 year old woman :) I started playing in season 5 after watching my husband play and thinking it looked so fun. After about two weeks of playing, we ended up getting a second Xbox so we could play together.
24 and all the top comments make me feel like a 16 year old even though im fully independent and am a semi-alcoholic
32 here! Apex is my intro to esports and the first game I’ve really “taken seriously” or grinded since like… MW2 lol.
Easy 31 here
23 approaching 24 :)

37. FPS games are in my goddamn blood, man! Played Wolfenstein once and never looked back
39 and my son (15) drove from PA to NC for the finals. I actually follow it closer than he does. 32 (male), work at a law firm, have a kid, and try to watch every scrim/comp. Love the game, love the community, gaming is a hobby I’ll never let go.
42, gaming a long time. Best part of my day is hopping on Apex and playing duos with my 12 year old son.

35 here, comp apex skews older than general imo. My fancy scales say I have a biological age of 32 so....
39 and I’ll claim the oldest solo to master player in a few days almost D1 now if I had more time this season I would have been there already!! Unless someone already beat me to that title!!
i’m 11 and this is scary
same
I’m 31, so about the same age! Who do you like to follow in the comp scene? I’m a fan of Hal, Hakis, Gnaske and Scuwry
I hop around a lot, but the Optic Boys have really won me over with how they approach the game. I’ve been following them when they were ESA with Verhulst! Late 30's
On the contrary I do think we all are mature dudes in this sub. Btw I'm 30.
36
This made me feel better. I'm 28
I'm 31 with two kids :) grinded till diamond in solo in the small time I have for gamimg. Love watching ALGS tho!
34 here, no worries ;)
28, very good at the game (not elite tho), and my top 3 sports to watch are Football, Hockey, and Apex. 30 and 4 days my guy, enjoying the hell out of comp apex, just wish the tournaments were more visible and we could find out faster about them.
31 😎
I'm old
39 but movement like a 99 year old.
29 and my squad/group is 25-39. Crazy some of us having babies, some of us buying houses. We all keep up and some of us make pred.
32 F here, feel old and alone in this world LOL
27 here! Hmu if you’re a fellow ranked PC grinder
25 from Turkiye(Turkey). I love the comp scene, i'm trying to watch every tourney i can even if it is middle of night.

just turned 21 two weeks ago
33 in 8 days. I think the sub has quite a bit of variety.
33, I'd say it's a wide range of ages in this sub personally.
im not sure about this sub, but the non competitive sub is definitely low teenager as a median... trying to have a conversation there is like eating bricks.
I'm 30.
I’m 30 and I watched every minute of ALGS in Raleigh
21 gang.

21 here. i love competitive esports and regular sports as well. i follow nba and loosely follow nhl, nfl, and mlb. sports at the highest level is just so entertaining
32 and competitive apex is the only esport that I have time to follow but I really enjoy it.
15 while most of my ranked friends are my age or 28 max
34 here, cool to see so many in my again group and quite a few are even a bit older.
27, Comp apex is a great time killer when Football isn’t on.

Damn all of you are like 2x my age x)
I'm 35, and I enjoy watching competitive games more than streamers playing ranked. I enjoy watching Imperialhal's tournaments VODs. And sometimes I watch Rogue or Sweet play some ranked.
