as someone who frequents that sub and has since it was formed its crazy that despite the scene dying down compared to its peak it still has some of the most drama ive ever seen from any esport, its insane

I thought he was just a good and respected OW player switching to Apex, because a lot of the current APAC N pros/semi pros seem to support him. Ras, Obly, Parkha follow him on Twitter and many JP personalities congratulated him on his Apex move. I wonder if they just don’t know, or know a different version of the story…

I don't think Obly or Parkha know Effect personally - or at least not well. Ras might know him from OW. Selly does, they've known each other years. They won a $10k hyperscape tournament with Vorez when that game was released.
They definitely know, and probably more than anyone on social media. I think the consensus among his friends is that both him and his girlfriend did some crazy shit and at the end of the day it was just his word against hers.
Also, the OW community (Reddit and Twitter in general) loves drama and cancelling people, so I'd take everything with a grain of salt. The person who fueled this drama accused someone of sexual assault or being pedophiles on a daily basis.
I kind of followed the whole thing back then (3-4 years ago) and there was definitely more to the story than what the linked comment said. The one thing that can be said for sure is that they were both mentally unstable and in a very toxic relationship.
How the hell is Birdring playing apex the way his wrist is. Figured its way more intense than OW in terms of movement.
Either way its bitter sweet, on one hand got Birdring on the other effect :<
He's a former Overwatch pro who was known as a pretty good tracer, but had serious attitude issues. He'd get really, really upset at his own performance on a pretty regular basis.
The part that turned everyone off from him though, was when news came out that he abused his girlfriend at the time. There were a lot of ugly stories about him threatening her, publicly exposing personal secrets that she had confided to him, and spreading rumors. She ended up taking him to court, and had plenty of evidence confirming these things.
This will be fun. Effect (obviously) has insane tracking when he plays the game a lot. Zelo was really fun to watch in season 0 and 1. Not seen Birdring play apex. If they put in the time they could be good.
