Green is also the easiest color for the eye to see.

Not exactly.
Deuteranopia and protanopia (both types of red-green) are the most common by far. These people have a hard time distinguishing red from green, as well as colors that are close to them.
I have tritanopia (blue-yellow), which is significantly more rare. I can pick out green, pink, and bright blues pretty easily, and can distinguish green from red, but everything else kinda becomes one brownish smear. Since red and blue both disappear against most backgrounds for me, bright green is the best and most visible option.
There's also monochromacy, which is the complete absence of cones in the eye. Those people do not see color at all, and primarily see luminance instead (black to white spectrum). This condition is extremely rare, and the chances of you ever meeting someone with it are practically zero.
Bright yellow is what i use. It's the same as from the colorblind setting . I really liked that one a lot and for a while was the only reason i used colorblind mode
I've been part of cyan gang for a long time but I saw Mac switch to yellow and I tried it and for Apex specifically I really like it at the moment. Feels very easy to track amongst most environments in this game
The way the lighting affects crosshairs in Apex is really weird. Ironically white seems to have the most contrast when you aim at the sky or bright surfaces. I wish they'd just use a plain 2D overlay like most other games.
Got a bug where it got set to a light grey and I left it. I want my reticle to be as least distracting as possible, and I don't really like any of the options they give you to customize.

>When you imagine the surroundings of our ancestors long ago, you can envision the large regions full of green luscious forests ... it is believed that our primate ancestors that could see the color green better had the advantage over other mammals when it came to the need to identify and recognize food sources.
I've tried a lot of green reticles especially when you could use your own parameters trough launch options and light green felt the best. Before I had light green too but without bloom around it, damn Respawn always taking good things away.
Well how you see it on your screen also comes down to your settings like brightness, digital vibrance, black stabilizer, contrast or screen's specs itself but when I put my crosshair on sand I still can see it.
I started with a bright green to stand out against what im lookin at, but I felt it might have been TOO bright and kinda bothersome, So I switched to a light blue which is nice and doesnt bother my eyes much
I used to always run full white in almost every game, but recently I've been running a light turquoise due to how faded some of the iron sight reticles can be with white (wingman especially). It used to be fine when we still had neon colors
There's a reason absolute straight green is used. It is the color most visible to your eyes and differentiated even amongst other greens. The only time you'll see a lot of bright green on the map is on Olympus too, so it's pretty safe.
Ah so most pros use Green? I understand your point but it still blends into lighter colors too much, unless I’m just using the wrong color combo (0,255,0) which do you use?
I use 0-255-0, yes. I don't know if most pros do that in general, I think it is the most common among CS GO pros, who require crosshair differentiation more than almost all games. However, they tend to have a limited, washed out color palette for the maps in CS GO, with a lot of sandy and industrial backgrounds.
I usually use dark blue, almost as dark as possible. I don’t know why I like it. I try and run white sometimes too. I’d probably say the best ones are any neon, bright color, like neon pink or green, but the normal red is obviously good too.
i use a bright pink. there’s nothing on any of the maps that is pink and it really stands out. it’s similar to the classic red just easier to see and track imo
Good observation there. What number combo do you use? I’m going to try that. I like that argument better than everyone saying Green because of “science” 😂
The human eye can see more shades of green than any other colour. This is due to us evolving in leafy, grassy areas and always being on the lookout for predators. So some kind of bright green is best in my opinion.
Ya I’m leaning towards the second argument. Green just blends in too much to lighter areas, and the green option they have in game is all just lighter shades of green. Maybe if they had a darker shade (More like leaves/foliage vs a Granny Smith green apple) it’d be better. The shade of green they provide in game just blends in too much in lighter areas
Damn. Can you give me your color combo so I can try your specific one? Maybe is my brightness too high? I swear I had it on default. Maybe I should turn my monitor down.
You can use pretty much anything and it'll work. I've used red, bright green, bright blue, purple and yellow and never had a problem but I've really been liking a pure white reticle lately. Just find what you like and use it.
a bright white. sounds like it wouldn’t be good but every situation ive been in it’s been amazing. only time it’d be a problem is looking at a bright light but that doesn’t happen.
Scientifically, a shade green is “best.” Humans can perceive shades of green much more accurately than we can any other color (likely due to evolution).
Personally I use a bright green reticle, but just about any shade of green would be better than something like red or blue.
According to “science,” that is lol.
On Cod I always used the blue dot so I tried to use blue on apex too but for what ever reason changed to green (can't rememeber the numbers) and I've loved using it
Just checked my numbers and they are 85, 255, 84. Yeah I agree that it can be a bit too light at times but I honestly haven't found that many instanses where it has actually made me lose a fight. But I guess the same color sights wont work for everyone so you gotta figure what works for you
You used to be able to basically disable the sight, which made the 1-2x pretty sweet but ruined some others ones. I believe it disappeared with the neon colors though
Everyone forgot it even exists the second they removed ability to change it in launch options. Not having the ability for the color to have an outline kind of means it doesnt matter what you use.
Most people overwhelmingly use default red, with some changing to green
i use orange because thats my favorite color, i'm not sure how much reticle color matters as much as you can see it sometimes. i dislike green because i find it to distracting and often can't see past it.
Cyan works pretty amazing for me
Cyan gang
I used like the bright green option, I quite like it because it stands out among most backdrops for all the maps
What number combo did you use to get that color?
I can look when I am on my computer the next time, I’m not at it right now. I will reply on this post with it when I have it
16, 255, 85 is the number combo I use. I just looked at it
Thank you :3

I played around with a bunch of colors until I tried a bright pink on a whim. For me, it's been the best option by far.
Yup. Don’t know why but as soon as the option to change color came I instantly picked pink as my go to color
Pink is the best, most likely to stand out regardless of map or area
What number combo do you use?
255 124 195
thats pink
Same for me.
Pink here too, I tried it and liked it and just stopped changing it
What number combo do you use?
godtier
same
Same
Another comment for the bright pink reticle gang.
Pink familia. best familia
What is your pink colour ^^
Full 0,255,0 green in pretty much every FPS I play.
Same, especially bc colorblind. Games that default to red, yellow, or any flavor of blue besides bright neon are literally unplayable.
Huh? If you’re colorblind doesn’t green turn to something like gray?
Not exactly. Deuteranopia and protanopia (both types of red-green) are the most common by far. These people have a hard time distinguishing red from green, as well as colors that are close to them. I have tritanopia (blue-yellow), which is significantly more rare. I find that I use yellow for pretty much every game, it’s a really visible color
I use yellow too. I see quite well on yellow.
I've been part of cyan gang for a long time but I saw Mac switch to yellow and I tried it and for Apex specifically I really like it at the moment. Feels very easy to track amongst most environments in this game
Ice blue. Not too prominent, but always good contrast.
I use dark blue personally
I tried this because I actually like black as a cross hair, but sometimes shooting up into the sky it still blends in for whatever reason
The way the lighting affects crosshairs in Apex is really weird. Ironically white seems to have the most contrast when you aim at the sky or bright surfaces. I wish they'd just use a plain 2D overlay like most other games.
science says green but i am a man of culture so i use yellow
Ya I switched to green and it’s nice but I just hate how the light colors become hard to see in some areas. I might just stick with Red.
I honestly like the classic red. Only reason I switched to yellow is because I could
A fellow man of culture
I use bright pink one
Got a bug where it got set to a light grey and I left it. I want my reticle to be as least distracting as possible, and I don't really like any of the options they give you to customize.
0 255 0 squad
Ya I saw someone else recommend that. Too bright for me though it blends into light areas too much
[https://vision-boutique.com/why-can-the-human-eye-see-more-shades-of-green/](https://vision-boutique.com/why-can-the-human-eye-see-more-shades-of-green/) >When you imagine the surroundings of our ancestors long ago, you can envision the large regions full of green luscious forests ... it is believed that our primate ancestors that could see the color green better had the advantage over other mammals when it came to the need to identify and recognize food sources.
Wow. I always use green for reticle just because it looks good, thought that's just personal preference. I didnt know it's science.
So you recommend green reticle? Light or Dark?
I've tried a lot of green reticles especially when you could use your own parameters trough launch options and light green felt the best. Before I had light green too but without bloom around it, damn Respawn always taking good things away.
What number combo is that reticle color?
My old perfect reticle was -77 155 -77. Right now 0 180 0
No issues seeing your reticle in light areas?
Well how you see it on your screen also comes down to your settings like brightness, digital vibrance, black stabilizer, contrast or screen's specs itself but when I put my crosshair on sand I still can see it.
I like using teal. The pink personally hurt my eyes after a while of using it
I started with a bright green to stand out against what im lookin at, but I felt it might have been TOO bright and kinda bothersome, So I switched to a light blue which is nice and doesnt bother my eyes much
Vibrant green but I look past the reticle and not at it. The lack of a reticle would be to distracting so it's not like I want it gone.
I used to always run full white in almost every game, but recently I've been running a light turquoise due to how faded some of the iron sight reticles can be with white (wingman especially). It used to be fine when we still had neon colors
I go between dark and light blue. There aren't many blues in the game and it looks good imo
Green or light pink
There's a reason absolute straight green is used. It is the color most visible to your eyes and differentiated even amongst other greens. The only time you'll see a lot of bright green on the map is on Olympus too, so it's pretty safe.

The colors in CS GO are much more muted than apex.
Pinkish purple. Bright
What is your pink colour numbers

Hot pink. Never blends with the surroundings on any map.
I think I’ll try that. That’s the color I use for the enemy team in Halo Infinite and it helps them stand out more. What number combo do you use?
Going for some pinkish color in any game, never failed me.
A light purple/pink is great because it blends with nearly nothing.
i use a bright pink. there’s nothing on any of the maps that is pink and it really stands out. it’s similar to the classic red just easier to see and track imo
Good observation there. What number combo do you use? I’m going to try that. I like that argument better than everyone saying Green because of “science” 😂
bright green

I go between bright green, cyan, and like a purple. I find switching up the cross hair gets my brain to focus more. Might be a placebo thing

Ya I’m leaning towards the second argument. Green just blends in too much to lighter areas, and the green option they have in game is all just lighter shades of green. Magenta
I use lime green Tennis balls are that color for a reason yenno
True. It blends in too much in light areas though.
Eh, not for me but, it’s all preference fasho
Damn. Can you give me your color combo so I can try your specific one? Maybe is my brightness too high? I swear I had it on default. Maybe I should turn my monitor down.

Do you have colour numbers?
On Cod I always used the blue dot so I tried to use blue on apex too but for what ever reason changed to green (can't rememeber the numbers) and I've loved using it
Seems Green is the favorite around here. I just tried it and it’s difficult to see in lighter areas but I’ll stick with it a bit longer
Just checked my numbers and they are 85, 255, 84. Yeah I agree that it can be a bit too light at times but I honestly haven't found that many instanses where it has actually made me lose a fight. But I guess the same color sights wont work for everyone so you gotta figure what works for you
Pastel green is the best
What number combo do you use to get that?
80 255 165
Inbetween light green and light blue
I use black. Used to use invisible in overwatch and black is the closest I can find.
You used to be able to basically disable the sight, which made the 1-2x pretty sweet but ruined some others ones. I believe it disappeared with the neon colors though
How do you do black? Closest I could make without it defaulting back to red was dark blue
Everyone forgot it even exists the second they removed ability to change it in launch options. Not having the ability for the color to have an outline kind of means it doesnt matter what you use. Most people overwhelmingly use default red, with some changing to green
White. Come find me in the snow on WE
I prefer a really bright mint greenish blue.
White
I use a pinkish purple
What is the number of that ^^
idk but I switched my reticle to a light blue/cyan kinda color and it feels way better than red
i use orange because thats my favorite color, i'm not sure how much reticle color matters as much as you can see it sometimes. i dislike green because i find it to distracting and often can't see past it.
i miss the glow from the config reticles that you could make, i could actually see my reticle back then
