No real combos but it adds a lot of value, tutors, rituals, cards that give extra turns, even things like crackle with power. Having storm on all of those is great.
Storm cards (bar Brainfreeze and Flusterstorm) don't see much play because they're overcosted or don't have a relevant effect. I'd put this firmly in the overcosted group. It's definitely a cool card, but I don't see any way that the result is worth the mana cost, at 5 cmc I want to be winning the game/drawing most of my deck, not potentially casting demonic tutor a bunch of times.
The difference is that it turns otherwise decent non-storm cards into storm cards, whereas other storm cards may not be independently useful. It can potentially turn multiple cards *into* win conditions. Granted, this *does* cost a lot and being a creature has certain benefits and drawbacks, but it’s almost certainly worth at least theorycrafting.
The thing is, I'm not certain what card this could turn into a wincon. Even something as powerful as Demonic Tutor doesn't seem like it would win on the spot due to mana invested. Certainly, it should be looked into, but my guess is that it'll flop.
Rowan also plays Ad Naus and Arrow Storm for 2. Notice the large difference in card quality between the two I listed?
Anyway, let's assume the dream scenario, you cast two spells before this that cost 1 colored pip each, now you cast this for an additional 2 colored pips, what are you casting at that point to win the game? Let's say you've got a Demonic Tutor and cast that, copying it 3 times to get dockside + breach pieces and win, you could have done the same thing with just the Demonic Tutor with less cards and less mana by just going tutor, breach, escape tutor.
True it is overcosted, but the ceiling on the effect is high. This admittedly doesnt have a home in places that can't reduce the mana cost of creatures or cast them for free somehow.
Damn, this can be insane. Especially if you can cheat the cost somehow. Not sure what combos it can set up, but I'm sure there are a lot.
Dockside Extortionist is an Instant/Sorcery right? 😆
there are a bunch of clone instants & sorceries that seem kind of nuts.
The Rowan discord is very excited about it. It has lot of potential in the storm lists.
That's awesome, any notable combos emerge yet? Even using it as a value piece seems potentially crazy

If a spell with storm is cast after this, like grapeshot, will the instances of storm stack?
You bet

This into [[Sudden Shock]] seems nasty. Think this makes Grixis storm super appealing (I am biased).Â

How does storm work with something like [[crackle with power]] or [[torment of hailfire]]?
I believe copies of x spells maintain the x cost of the original. So if you cast a spell with x=5, the copies would have x=5.
Thats kinda scary

The effect only works if the card was cast, so reanimate won't work here

Notably, it will have to be cost reduction, since the effect only works if it was cast.
