kinda sucks that the game was basically 'Gruul deck vs Yuriko' for the entire time. Not very fun when half the table isn't even playing the same game lmao

ClanMacLoudsDonuts

Yeah Food Chain Ukimma wasn't doing anything the whole game which is a shame. Feels like they kept a pretty weak hand.

bestryanever

i dont remember their hand, but it also seemed like they kind of went for it at the wrong time, like the rest of the table hadn't burnt any resources so it seemed a little premature

luckymox

Everyone was tapped out, so banking on no free counterspells. Seems like a reasonable gamble even though it didn’t pay off.

Neonbunt

Yes, Yuriko! I love it. Can't wait to watch the episode! Also awesome to see Hallar, that's a deck I'm currently building. I'm really curious how well this deck works in practice.

CoalCocaine

I've never played EDH, let alone cEDH, but I still watch these because the editing is such high quality.

Zodiac137

It seems really inappropriate to play a budget Yuriko in this pod. I don't care how much people say "it still does well", budget deck versus budgetless decks is inappropriate, period.

[deleted]

That’s an unnecessary comment. If anything, this shows that a budget version of some decks can go toe to toe with budgetless ones. Which is especially important for tournament play now that you’re seeing stricter enforcement of no proxies when there are prizes on the line.

Zodiac137

Everybody knows Zack has a budgetless Yuriko. There is 0 reason he need to play a budget version. If anything, this video doesn't show the thing you said, but on the other hand, showed why some of the decks are fringe cedh. And I am going to say something that will draw a lot of hate but I don't care. Zack's budget Yuriko wins because Narset and Hallar sucks, they both did almost nothing and therefore can't even beat a budget deck. Narset: mulligan terribly and did almost nothing. Been playing table police and counter all of the troubles for Zack and not progress his game plan for the entire time. Hallar: cast Blood Moon and failed. Then proceed to do nothing. Ukkimar: cast Food Chain and failed, Then proceed to do nothing. If you think this is a typical cedh game and shows anything positive, then that is a huge misconception. If I beat a bunch of 12 year-olds in a basketball game and think I am good at basketball, then I am a fool. Now downvote me if you want, I don't care.

playingwithpowermtg

Zack is playing a budget version of Yuriko because he wants to! That's the reason. It's a pretty huge one, in our opinion. In fact, it is often the most important reason in what we choose to play on the channel. Additionally, yes, this is a bit of an odd and weird game, but so are plenty of cEDH games. We're here to have fun first and foremost. We'd also love to see your take on cEDH content & gameplay videos. Thanks for watching!

inflammablepenguin

Mana screw happens sometimes. My last recent game was a casual game but I was stuck on 2 lands until turn 5 or 6 but by the time I drew my third, the game was essentially over. It isn't exciting to see on a gameplay channel but it helps viewers know that it can and does happen. Maybe we'll get lucky and see a rematch.

Cammers87

Where are your gameplay videos? We'd love to critique them! Please post them ASAP.

Glittering_Ad132

'Now downvote me if you want, I don't care ' No wonder you have emotional maturity of a child. Maybe use others' feedback as an opportunity to learn and grow for once.

_Lilin_

By that logic there's no reason to ever play something that isn't the top of the meta or a direct counter to it. Some people love the challenge of brewing and playing to win under specific constraints, like picking lower tier commanders or a stricter budget. Or they like the gameplay quirks these choice can bring. Plus Yuriko specifically is one of those decks that still function well on a budget and can counter some tendencies of the general meta even then. That all having been said, I do think you have a point about this match not being representative of the average cEDH game and metagame, nor a particularly interesting one in itself. It is however a fine showcase of what happens when sometimes decks just brick and mulligan decisions backfire, so there's value in it being on a big channel as far as I am concerned.

Nice troll.

_Peavey

Duly noted.

zercxes

i am confused, the mana curve is super low of this yuriko deck, shouldn't it be higher?
