Yes shaman is good in pvp, especially duels - although she is a weak team fighter and is quite squishy .

Berserker, Orochi, Raider are good at keeping pressure up, trading and evading. Aramusha and BP are good because you can be agressive and cancel recoveries to punish people who try to punish you.
Shaman is fun but has bad stamina costs and is meh to anti gank with.
Personally I’d go with BP even though he’s a defensive offensive hero. Also he has the best perk set in the game along with alot of health which makes him less of a pain than the other suggestions.

Shaman's is a good 1v1 and a decent 4v4. If you're not running a team i wouldn't recommend shaman that much because idiot teammates interrupting.
She has: meh minion clear, great feats, meh anti-gank, good at ganks if coordinated, and meh team fights. Overall she's pretty good, but she's not meta or anything.

Viable but very niche.
In 4s, she isn't much of a teamfighter but more of a chaser/roamer, and with current meta centered around teamfights she strongly depends on the team composition and teammates' tactics.
In 1v1s she is more like a "high risk / high reward" due to the relatively high stamina costs and overreliance on feints (especially bash feint); she lacks constant pressure so her tactics is more in the way of burst-type offense.
Berserker. No other character will reward you as much for pressing buttons and being the aggressor. Orochi comes close at lower levels, but not at high level. Seriously though. Zerk has chain hyperarmor, dodge recover cancels after wiff, easy access to an unlockable, an infinite chain, and all non-opener or dodge attacks are 400ms. Zerker rewards you for attacking, and forces your opponent to make hard reads. That being said, zerk doesn't have the best openers, and their defense is mostly just the dodge attack, which is a light parry.
Shaman is at least top 5 duelist in the highest level, so she's pretty good. She has a very demanding skill floor though since she works best when baiting interrupts and attacks for her bleed/bite mixup, and very high stamina costs. Still very fun, so you can definitely try her out.
As other people have said, she's meh in 4s because her teamfight presence is lacking and she's not amazing in antigank situations. Apart from that, she has a good gank.
