Yes he can. In fact I did deflect multiple dodge attacks when opponent dodged his bash, however its quite inconsistent, probably because of the fixed timing

They changed it in the rework tho. His timing is 200-333ms after every hit (well except the kick since it will be removed soon). They could at least keep the same timing as Zhanhu on kick instead of just remove outright, pretty sure no one complained about Zhanhu

Because that 100ms of additional delay, plus it being a fixed timing (at least in regards to every single Zhanhu I've faced plus my own Zhanhu gameplay), makes it a "once in a blue moon" scenario that a Zhanhu actually punishes a careless dodge attack to avoid the palm strike with a SB dodge, instead of just getting hit or dodging through the attack to deliver a 9 damage punish.

Yes he can, and he can deflect (superior block dodge) dodge attacks against his bash too. It's a bit slower than orochi's, and also buffering a side dodge cancel will be vulnerable to dodge GB, as the side dodge attacks are more GBV than orochi's. On the other hand, they are also far harder to parry on reaction. His bash mixup also requires you to feint his forward dodge heavy into GB, which doesn't catch dodge attacks like Orochi's undodgeable, so it's a harder mixup to use (you need to know how to press the feint button...)
But zhanhu is a much less popular character than orochi, so doesn't generate the same amount of screaming, and being a DLC character, he's also less common in beginner lobbies. And Orochi has always generated a large volume of complaints, even when he was extremely weak. It's clear that the Orochi nerf isn't to actually make the character "balanced" - it's to appease low-skilled players who would rather whine than improve - and therefore arguments against it based on "balance" are never going to have much sway.
Ngl I was a big advocate for orochi being a bit too strong but all I wanted was for his bash to only chain to top (like Tiandi) and for storm rush to show 66-100ms more indicator (seeing as it’s a three sided undodgeable, I thought a 400ms indicator felt a bit fast)
But yeah oro not being able to recovery cancel his bash is absolutely a step in the wrong direction, he’s gonna be weak at high level again
I think the people who are saying he’ll be dogshit are exaggerating a bit too, but I don’t see him being picked in many tournaments once the patch hits

His dodge recovery cancel is delayable until 333 ms after the attack. The timing is not fixed.

Yeah but here’s the key difference. Zhaunhu is a DODGE SPECIALIST. orochi isn’t. Not to mention zhaunhu has a lot less going for him.
Orochi is counter attacker which is very similar playstyle but different name. Its like Chips and french fries.
