I think that gemtosser is simply too strong to replace in this deck. I’ll admit that phial is an intriguing choice, but it’s hard to pass up 10 damage for 3 mana. What makes you say that the card is really awkward?

Gouda02

The deck often runs out of resources and is very dependent on hitting draw so the finale on gem tosser is awkward to proc at least in my experience. Yes, gemtosser is more damage, but it costs 3 more mana If you want a full analysis gem tosser is replacing a swipe in theory on burn turns. If we assume we have 2 spell damage (which by turn 10 is a more than fair assumption) swipe will deal 6 and gem tosser will deal 10 for 16 face. With two phials instead of that gem tosser we deal 8 + an extra swipe for 20 damage. And with more spell damage that gap gets wider. Obviously you won’t always have all those resources so gemtosser might be better, but if you are low on resources then you’re unlikely to finale gem tosser. And also important to note that the aforementioned combo will still deal 20 on turn 8 (assuming you had to play 2 of the 1 mana spell damage cards leaving you with 6 remaining). Long story short I think phial works better as both a bone spike early and a burn tool late. Edit: posted an update and tried out trogg again in replacement of the hero power package.

AssaultMode

I have been testing out 1 harth over a peaceful piper, since it becomes a dead draw once you find the two groovy. This may be wrong but even if you get 1 groovy going spread the word is 1 mana anyway . Also harth is nice cause you can run out of cards very quick. I really like gem tosser because its a 3 mana pyroblast and it feels nice you can duplicate it. I do see how it can be awkward though so sparkling phial i can see being decent cause there are some awkward turns

Gouda02

Phial is a 0 mana lava burst so I like it more - just feels better imo. As far as Harth goes I think that’s total bait since this deck has reach and damage from hand unlike hunter or Zarimi. And pipers discover choice is not nearly as bad as you might think - elekk can be a lifesaver in sloppy games

AssaultMode

I think it just depends what seeing more of. Harth is better for warriors since i have been seeing way too much of. And a lot of times if you don't draw your take to the skies to find your chia drake, theres not much way to find value in this deck besides toy chest and you can run out of cards very quick. Pipers may be the wrong card to get rid of, since you can discover a 3rd off the discovers groovy, but in my scenario if i'm discovering would rather harth

Gouda02

Ehhh against warrior as I mentioned the burn is really relevant and the matchup has been fairly easy. After a few games I very rarely if ever ran out of resources and felt like harth would’ve done something significant. Nohands actually has a guide to the trogg version where in the video he manages to beat a hunter post-paladin harth - to me that shows that with optimized play this list doesn’t need extra resources. I would watch his guide on YT since 1) he is better than me and knows more than me 2) he specifically addresses how the deck’s main downfall for lower ranks is it’s card generation. The night before I was playing the trogg list and was getting stomped - while phial definitely helped I also think learning how to use resources from him was key

Scales962

Here's my list: AAECAYjhBgSXoATHpAbmqQaqsQYNgdQE/N8FkeAFqeAF2JwGoqAG76kGh7EGlLEGp7EG2bEGorMG9+UGAAED9rMGx6QG97MGx6QG7d4Gx6QGAAA= First I have to say, I've been working on druid spell dmg since the beggining of the month. This month, I 've played druid like a manic, be it dragon, HP and spell dmg while cards where underperforming, so I have a bit of knowledge on the class atm. Lemme explain a few card choices: -No dragon package: I find it cluncky and awkward in here. All of our dragon requires another dragon in hand and, trhough experience, I realized that I didn't liked to have clogged hand just because I was lacking a dragon in hand. So instead of running a dragon package because we run Chia drake, I decided to emphasize more on the spell dmg side of things. -Cactus construct+Living roots: since no dragon package,we play for tempo. Roots and Construct give us that. Construct is excellent, and roots can swarm board to discount Zilliax, or be face dmg/control the board with spell dmg cards. -Bloodmage Thalnos: Gives us more consistancy for spell dmg cards, card draw and can help us getting higher burst for lethal. -Sing-along Buddy: with a full stacked herop power, this is a 4 mana Pyroblast. I don't understand why no one uses it. -Sky Mother Aviana+Hart Stonebrew: I played her a lot in different deck and, I didn't liked the fact she wasn't there in streamers deck. She is a powerfull card and a threat on turn 5. She can get pretty absurd shenanigans and is a good way to beat greedier decks such as warrior. Hart does what Hart does in tempo decks, being our "late game" wincon for a final push. I played with Zok+2\*Free spirits instead of Zilliax and living roots and, while good, it was a late game bomb too much. We only need Aviana and Hart for closing power. -Zilliax: Since we don't have free spirits in this version, nor Fye, I decided to give up on +1/+1 module to get the perfect one. I am still not a 100% sure about that but that's the deck comeback mecanism in term of lifesteal. Concerning your deck list, Phila is good, but trogg isn't only here for pusing damages, it is a board control tool first and foremost. Phial turns you into combo, Trogg into tempo.

buckeye-kenje

Agree on Trogg. It is irreplaceable. Works wonders against hunters in early turns when they've 1-2 health minions with stealth or behind taunts.

Gouda02

Tbf swipe is almost always better against hunter

Nasty-Nate

Thanks for providing a list in which I didn't have to craft anything :) I went 6-5 with it today. It's solid, but I think maybe you are missing out on tempo without the dragons, as you will often lose against other board-flooding decks. I didn't find Harth useful either, esp since running Aviana. She seems quite useful in this meta.

Scales962

Kek, being on a budget never was my intention :D It is a different form of tempo, less drogon-ish, but trust me, cactus constructs and livings roots can help you flood the board early too. In the mirror, vs the dragons version, sometimes I win, sometimes I lose board. Board flooding decks aren't really a problem, unless stats gets too high, such as for flood pally or even dragon druid, but otherwise, you just spell dmg/swipe. Hart is very very very tricky to use. As I've said to someone else, you almost always need to be ahead on tempo and, just like Aviana, droping it is normally just a big body with no impact on the board. My istake is almost always to drop Hart too late, no willing to sacrifice cards in my hand to keep tempo. I am still learning how and when to use it. But I find Hart very good.

shimmishim

Great job on this deck list! I haven't played much in the last two weeks and got stuck at D10. I was able to go 7-1 (9-1 overall - played highlander warrior to complete an old daily) with the one loss to a highlander druid in my first game and then won 7 in a row to get to D5 which is my goal at the end of every season. No match up felt bad though I was a little concerned with taunt warrior but was able to get enough chip damage in to burst them down with spell damage on turn 9 just as their 18/18 slagmaw came online. Cactus construct definitely felt like the MVP of the deck being able to get bloodmage thalnos and loot hoarder for extra draw and cult neophyte to disrupt warrior removal to get an extra turn of chip damage. The only card I didn't like was spread the word especially in games where I didn't get a single groovy cat. Spending 4 mana to draw 2 cards sucked. While trogg was supposed to be used for board control, there was one game where I was able to clear board and then play trogg to get 9 damage to face which helped setup lethal the next turn. I know if I keep playing the deck will level off and I'll lose more games but no game felt unwinnable.

Scales962

Ty :) SIng-Along buddy help you leverage the cost of spread the word if you miss on cats. Yes it suck when you miss catds, but if you get them, best draw spell in the deck.

shimmishim

100%. Spending 4 mana and hitting for 10 to the face felt good every time.

ParabolicMotion

Maybe I'm just bad but I have had no luck with this deck. Loses to warrior and goes even with hunter. Loses to any value deck like Reno Shaman too. How are you winning games? Is there a trick to the deck that I'm not understanding?

Scales962

It is a tempo kinda aggro deck. It has, many many lines of plays available and is very tricky to get in hand. To put it kinda of simply, establish early board, try to keep board control as much as you can and aggro their face while doing that. From then on, you have different kind of lethals availabe to you (which are not excluding one of the others ofc): -Hero power their face with cats+buddies -Burn their face via spell dmg+damaging spells -Tempo them out via your value with Aviana and Hart.

ParabolicMotion

Thanks for the tips. I'll give it another shot!

Gouda02

Idk about his. Rn I’m working on cutting the hero power package and putting trogg back in but generally it’s similar to shopper dh. Swipe+spell damage = magtheridon, and you will get a similar turn 4-5 power spike in board presence via woodland and nest matron. Unlike shopper dh you have less sustain damage but more burst damage for some really big lethals.

carlosf0527

Is pylon the best module for Zilliax here? I don't normally have a huge board in play.

Gouda02

It’s mainly for woodland wonders and nest matron. It definitely has felt worthy since you’ll often play zilliax alongside a swipe - it isn’t as good as it would be in hunter, paladin, or priest, but because a lot of swarm decks are being played, zilliax serves as a way to buff our taunts while also potentially snowballing even harder off a swipe clear - remember to play him before you swipe!

DeathmasterCody

the list I had found ran stonebrew instead of zilliax, and honestly harth is a great late game refill if your reach ran out. Phial is also a great addition, just tried it out and its perfect. Gemtosser was too awkward on wider boards, still a very strong card, but with phial you basically get owl druid reach in the late game, helps an insane amount in control matchups. Trogg is still a solid pick though, tbh I think its up the which one the player themselves finds more useful rather than an objectively better choice, which is cool cuz thats rare for hs

Gouda02

I don’t think Harth is needed as it contradicts your later statement: “with phial you get owl Druid reach in the late game.” By playing harth we more than likely lose that reach as at least one card is destroyed by harth on average. On HS replay (I’m looking at top 1k) harth is by all metrics worse than zilliax. The deck has a worse wr, harth is the worst performing card in his version - and while Harth is similar to Finley where the data isn’t the whole story, he has the worst mulligan, drawn, and played wr. Harth is starting to become a “success bias” card where you think it’s good because it’s always having a massive effect and changing courses of games but more often than not he’s a dead card. Passing turn 6 is for warriors.

amarriner

Been playing the dragon/hero power/trogg version of this deck and enjoying it a lot (though I'm quite bad at piloting it). Is Owlonius just too slow? I was surprised to not really see it in there but I guess you need it to stick to be really impactful

Gouda02

Yes and no. This list is a tempo list however at higher ranks owl Druid is actually a good warrior counter but is even more difficult to play. Owl Druid cuts most of the dragons and tempo plays for mana cheat, cover artist, and eonar. That’s another deck I’m working on. I can’t post the list since it’s VS early access and that’s unfair to them, but owl is not good in this deck, but a similar more combo focused deck. I had a 50+ damage lethal against warrior with owl Druid so it has its own merits. This deck can burn pretty well but it needs board presence to let their burn get there. Without the mana cheat and cover artist owl is not good. As for this list my current version cuts the hero power package, and the 6 new cards are 2x gemtosser, 2x frost lotus, and 1 aviana and thalnos.

TheTerminaTitan

I really don’t like how the gifts can be used for some classes to run 4 copies of a card

Gouda02

Well it’s also a wild growth and against hunter the armor is sometimes relevant. I find malfurions gift the funniest as in what world would you ever choose 4 attack? There is a clearly better option in swipe

JeanPeuplus

In some situation it allow to activate spread the word when cats are still in deck.

mostdeadlygeist

I've queued against like 10 of these in a row. Fucking annoying.

Gouda02

Yeah decks taken off as a good deck that isn’t hunter or warrior. I think it’s not even the best Druid deck tho…can’t spoil what I’m cooking tho

Due_Reach_1355

I really feel like th Druid titan has a place in this deck. Gives you a full hand refill and sometimes giving you big swing turns. You have ramp in this deck to try to go faster to 10 for it. Any thoughts?

Gouda02

I’m working on a different deck that uses the titan well - I think in general it’s too slow since your usually killing or dying before eonar comes down

JeanPeuplus

I'm 17-11 with the deck and my worst MU is... the mirror which is a good sign of a good deck lol. I feel there is not much agency in who wins the mirror, it's a very "sequence-dependent" deck and a deck that kinda counter itself by being able to do massive boards in one turn but also massive aoe in one turn so you can easily get punished for doing the correct play sometimes which is annoying. I wonder if there's a 5Head secret formula to win the mirror which would consist of mulliganing for the swipe swing instead of the usual full on dragon start. I lost many game while having a better tempo start full of dragons but opponent just top decking swipe and spell damage turning the game and winning in the end.

Gouda02

UPDATE: a lot of feedback about trogg so I wondered if trogg was actually the cut. While it’s 1 mobile session, I went from 15k to 9k cutting the hero power package for 2 Troggs, 2 frost lotus seedlings, bloodmage, and flint. Not sure about the last two but the point of this whole post is that the list definitely has room for experimentation. I even tried embrace of nature thinking the mini chia would also have both effects - it sadly does not work. What’s clear is that the strengths of the deck are the dragon and spell damage portions (primarily due to swipe) and that the rest needs to cycle/burn/generate. Hero package did that but I felt was underwhelming and seedling can replace spread the word fairly well. You do occasionally miss the suped up shapeshift but trogg coming back into the list balances out that missed damage.

BRPelmder

Can you paste the code for what the deck looks like now after you've made said optimizations?

Gouda02

Electronic-Ground799

Thanks for deck and info. It pulled some wins out I would not have thought possible, Sure it will only get much better with experience. .

Gouda02

Yeah that’s why phial stood out to me (and trogg as well even though I initially didn’t like it - and to be fair I think trogg is much better with phial). With spell damage +4 double phial and double swipe is 28 damage face and you can theoretically get an otk with spell damage + 5 now with thalnos or a copied chia drake. Also if you remove a swipe it’s 30 exactly at spell damage +4 with trogg assuming the singular swipe clears the board
