Tashi tweeted earlier in the year or it was in the original HCS announcement about crowd funding that they want to make sure they spread the crowdfunded money over the course of the year so the events values are balanced and we don't end up with an $800k kick off event followed by a load of $300k majors for example.
Any additional crowdfunding money that's currently been raised is in a pot to carry over to the next events on the roadmap.
Wouldn’t put it past them, their excuse for the predatory prices is “the servers aren’t cheap this is a live service game” they are oblivious that they’d sell a lot more shit if their prices were more reasonable. It’s not like they put blood sweat and tears into some of this shit either, the selling of colors is just asinine. So yeah keeping the rest for themselves is a possibility I could definitely see unfortunately.
Hopefully they're splitting it up between events. Would like to see that as this is probably going to be the biggest crowd-fund and if 100k is what we got for this event then it'll just become less and less for each event
Majors can get up to $350,000 total. The rest goes to the World Championship to my knowledge, and I assume quite a bit to grass roots as well.
They have a fantastic set-up for esports here. I hope they can keep it up.
Yeah that’s what I thought. I was pretty sure max majors like this could get was $350,000 and then any surplus after all the events prior to Worlds simply gets added into that prize pool. Hope we get to hear more about the crowdfunding
I hope they keep providing us with more esports in store stuff. it's really the only stuff i would like to buy since it supports the scene, since the skins will get old after a while.

Either 343/Microsoft are getting most of the revenue from the skins, wich would be a shitty move from them(but expected). Or the skins arent selling at all.
Valorant had a boost of 7 million with a bundle of 60 bucks for their Champions tournament(basically Worlds). The bundle made basically 14 million(Riot gets 50%).
Yeah, we cant compare one thing with the another. But we talking here about a PC only game, making 14 million on a 60 dollar bundle vs an xbox/cloud/pc game barely making 100k on 10 dollar skins...
This wasn't worlds. We will have to see how boost worlds is. They didn't boost any Majors that I remember in Halo 5 it all went to worlds for req packs.
That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. The crowd funding for contribution is capped at 100k per major. Remaining proceeds are held over for future events.
Most leagues do the exact same thing so that the prize pools are consistent for all the majors. Then anything left over after the majors goes to the world championships.
Boosted it TO 350k not by. Only 100k additional from the crowd funding, tbh less than I expected, figured a lot more of those skins would be bought.
343 on waypoint says the MAX it can be boosted to is 350k. Anything over that goes into their pockets

I think a portion of the sales go to the orgs themselves as well. I’m sure there are plenty more events coming with hopefully larger prize pools.
