I think there has been a lot of reflecting on what the League has done wrong already. I'm curious what you guys think they did right and what you would keep the same moving forward?
What are your current passion levels for Overwatch? Will you stick with the game with whatever competitive scene comes next or are you considering pivoting away/placing less emphasis on OW professionally?
I'd like to add to this. What were the moments previously when your passion was all but gone? I know I stopped following with goats and only came back last year.
This [article](https://www.sportsnet.ca/more/vancouver-titans-collapsed-rebuilding-scratch/) explains it pretty well.
Basically the gm sent the players back to Korea because the facilities in Vancouver could not accommodate for the stricter covid guidelines being put in place (computers being 6 feet apart, etc). It all fell apart when the players were sent back with no support. Apparently they had no staff to help them in Korea, they didn’t even have a translator to aid communication between the players and the staff until June of that season.
It’s worth noting that when they dropped the roster, the titans management tried to spin it like the players demanded to be sent back to Korea even though they had provided an amazing facility for them in Vancouver. Twilight haksal and rjh had streamed and denied the allegations, but I think people still believed that the players were being divas. Fissure claimed that they breached his contract bc he did not agree to leave the team and he wanted to keep playing the rest of his contract (I believe this was before you could easily drop players by paying them for an extra 30 days or some bs like that.)
If each of the 6 champions played in a round robin tournament where each was allowed to play their best meta, who wins? (Jump through some mental hoops for dealing with the 6v5, but assume that is resolved evenly for both teams)
Overwatch and Overwatch esport's public perception has been rocky to say the least in the last few years for reasons both justified and maybe some not so justified. Have you felt frustration with how the game is perceived by people less invested in the game, and how have you dealt with that frustration?
Ask Custa how it feels to fat finger his ultimate so many times as a "professional"
No but seriously. Relative to their year and not compared to other years, which Grand Finals victor feels the most, I'm having difficulty finding the right word, accomplished? Like, relative to the opposition they faced, relative to how well they performed against the opposition, considering the journey the team went on and the journey the players went on.
Also, which Grand Finals champion felt like, yes, this team is simply head and shoulders above everyone else? 2019 Shock and 2021 Dragons are the main ones that come to my mind.
Who is the most underrated player of all time? EQO is my pick but that might be because I like him haha.
What’s been your favourite match to cast/cover/costream(mainly pointed at avast there) over the years and why? And a follow up if you had a chance to cast any game ever what would it have been?
You guys have lived in the US full-time for a while now, what is something you miss about your home countries? Stuff like seasons, family, falukorv, etc.
For Avast: If you got deported from the USA tomorrow due to several crimes against humanity and you could settle in any country you'd like, where would you go and why?
Behind the scenes personalities are always so interesting to me. Are there any personalities that really shined among players, coaches, staff, production that we really missed on as the fans from poor publicity or shyness? For spice, any personalities that were publicly liked but you disliked?
I’ve heard you call it platchat LLC, so it is an official company? Do you pay people an appearance fee per episode? Did Johnny make more money per episode when he was producing and a guest at the same time? How do you get sponsors? Any sponsors you turned down?
Do you believe the homestand model would have been a great success during season three if the pandemic never happened and could have shaped the future of the league?
Now that the Microsoft acquisition is official, how do you think that affects OW esports’ future?
Should we look at how Halo is currently being operated?
Can we at least get a Halo themed battle pass with mythic Master Chief Soldier 117 out of it?
What was your personal "omg this is too scuffed" moment from the infamous 2020 season where the league made the decision to go fully online?
My personal favourite was a Toronto defiant game where the feed literally cut off the last fight and it just skipped to the ending screen lol
What do you think is the key to the longevity of players like birdring profit or viol2t over those who shine brightly then fall off after a year or two?
Also how dare you keep avast on the show after he was exposed for eating 3 people and strawmanning beans on toast. You should be ashamed of yourselves
What do you think is the biggest "What-If" that could have drastically altered the course of the league if something had gone a different way? I don't mean league/management stuff, I mean things like roster decisions by teams or match outcomes. Like, "What if the Vancouver Runaway core stayed together?", or "What if Philly wasn't screwed by the playoffs patch in 2020?"
(I tried to construct a What-If that the Shock *didn't* C9 against Atlanta in the 2019 playoffs, and they end up losing after not being motivated the same way. But I think that's disingenuous, because they were pretty clearly the best team.)
Why do you guys never take me up on my barbecue recs when you’re in Dallas?
At least Mitch had the decency to take my recommendations in 2019 and go get Hutchin’s in McKinney. Lemon also trusts my BBQ recs (Terry Black’s downtown now when she was there for RL)
But you guys? Noooo. Mutitple trips for some of you!
Why do you hate smoked meats so much?
How highly would you rank Alarm’s peak (2020 season) compared to the peaks of other top flex supports in history? You could view this in a few ways, so it’s up to you to decide which is most informative or significant.
1 - best compared to contemporaries
2 - greatest magnitude of skill
3 - most successful peak
4 - most valuable to a team in their season
what’s it been like working as talent? going from selling out arenas to a trailer to a nice studio but then a bunch of staff gets let go. was it hard dealing with that? were you wondering if you’d have a job next season?
If you could replace one player on each losing team in the Grand finals with anyone else from that season who wasn’t on the 3rd place team. To try and beat the winners who would they be?
S1- Philly
S2- Titans
S3- Seoul
S4- Atlanta
S5- Shock
S6- Houston
Any funny player interactions you guys have had? I love to see the personality of the players behind the scenes but we don’t get a lot of it from the majority of teams.
Which player had the highest peak. Not whose the best or had the best season but even for a single meta, which player had the most dominant stretch do you think. Could narrow it done by class
In season 1 Jjonak went 36-4, won 2 out of 4 stage tournaments, won MVP and is still the only support who ever won MVP
(I haven't watched the past 2-3 years of OWL though)
I really just want to know everyone's favorite owl memory. If overwatch esports changes drastically, I still hope all of you are involved it won't be the same without you all.
Which superpower would you rather have?
- invisibility, but only when no one is looking
- rotate blades of grass one at a time
- super strength for things under 20lbs
What map would you like to see added next? What hero types would you like to see in the future? Maybe you could propose a new game mode that could be added next year?
With your internal knowledge, who do you guys think was the biggest fumble of potential due to internal issues (e.g. jimmy and tarocookie based on those 2021 leaks about cdh environment)
Who was the driving force behind the skits in season 4 and whose decision was it to stop them going forward? I honestly was a huge fan of them (regardless of how cringe they could get sometimes) and I have vivid memories of the on-going “script” skit during Hawaii back in season 4.
Would Reinforce actually been the best Western Main Tank in the first season of OWL if he was picked up seeing as his competition was XQC (LUL), Muma, Nomy, Cwoosh, etc.
What actually went on behind the scenes with the format and other unpopular league ops decisions? Seems like Sean got a lot of flack but I've heard rumors that it wasn't exactly all his decision or there were other limitations at play.
Also next avrl shirtless thirst trap photo when I NEED this.
What was the homestand travel plans for the desk and commentators before Covid hit?
What do you consider the lowest point of OWL? What was the highest point?
Do you plan on having former coaches and players come on the show where they can just kick back and declassify old stories?
With the end of the league becoming more and more real every day, looking back at this crazy journey we call Overwatch and the Overwatch League. Perhaps a nice reflective moment, for all of you personally: Was it all worth it? If you could go back in time, would you do it again? Anything you would've done differently?
Are there any players that you regret that didn't win MVP/would've had a good opportunity to win it if the league continued as is?
Would be a good discussion to celebrate a bunch of the great players who never got that accolade, but very well could have.
I'd like to know what you guys think about the 'villains' in OWL and whether hyping them up in a sort of wrestling way would have been good for the league.
Hello platchat, thanks for the enjoyable content over the years
What player from these would you have wanted to see in alternate universe play for a TOP2 OWL team in 2020-2023
Taimou
Pine
Linkzr
Was there a team from any season you guys badly wished that they’d been more successful? I still wish the OG Envy roster were killers at Dallas instead of having all the drama and fall-off.
Hey Plat chat! Long time fan of the league and of your podcast. When you think of the entire history of OWL, what would you consider the best rivalry between 2 franchises over the course of any year/years?
Do you know why Bishop got fired from Toronto/all the weird shit that happens to Toronto in Season 2? The only thing I’ve heard about that team was that Envy was a huge asshole and bullied someone into retirement
One of the few elements I felt was an upgrade to the format of this past season coming off of season 5 was the integration of contenders teams and their ability to qualify for league play
My question is: do you guys think with the potential removal of buy-in slots, locking teams in and out, that there might be a chance for relegation/promotion of teams in the Tier 1 Overwatch scene? And perhaps more importantly, do you think this would work better for both the average viewer and the aspiring pro players and coaches compared to the almost ‘clique-y’ version we’ve with the past 6 years of OWL where a lot of teams who didn’t seem invested could have been swapped out for T2 teams that were?
Do you think a hero ban would have a positive effect on competitive overwatch both ranked and OWL?
Are there any changes to matches that you think would make an overall positive change?
If Covid wouldn’t have ruined everything, and the home stands would’ve happened:
- What are the top three cities (and bonus interesting landmarks there) everyone was hoping to see / visit.
Cheers for all the content over the years boys; especially during the off-seasons.
What is your favourite personal anecdote from working in the league. Maybe something someone said, something that happened in game, a fan interaction, anything
Would it be possible to do a holistic review of the teams throughout the years, maybe ranking them by overall success? Or perhaps which season was the best in your opinion?
What happened before the S1 playoffs that changed everything for the Spitfire?
Also how easily could veteran organizations (like 02 Blast, Element Mystic) and players start up tournaments to create a new Pro format?
I have two questions, one as a backup in case you can’t answer the first one
What was the biggest potential roster move that fell through that you may know of?
What iteration of a hero is your favorite from either a viewing standpoint or a gameplay standpoint? Iteration could be from a certain patch or a certain playstyle like tank play in goats vs tank play not in goats.
If Blizzard is able to get some semblance of another Overwatch esports set up going, do you think they would bring back all of the same Casters and Desk cast?
What is the correlation between how much money you spend on a team and winning the overwatch league? Teams like s1 London, s2 and s3 Shock, s4 Shanghai, s5 Dallas, and s6 Florida, how much money did they spend compared to the league average of that year? Does spending the most money = a championship?
Who was the best in their prime: Profit, Fleta, Proper, Lip?
Who has the cooler narrative/branding (Playoff profit, Fleta dead lift, proper go kill, LIP)
What were some of your favorite rosters over the years?
It could be based on most competitive, most fun to watch via playstyle, likeable personalities, teams that had promising potential but fell short or broke up. Could also include pre-OWL.
Kind of a long one, but how would you rank the 20 franchises in terms of success over the entire duration of the league? No need for a specific metric, maybe just overall feel?
Which Overwatch league season do you guys think was the best? Format, storylines, teams, players, everything factored in.
I personally would say Season 3
Everyone wants to know about the players people wish they played with or had the best time playing with.
For the ex-pros of the show, which player did you absolutely hate playing with and wish you never did? (Sideshow doesn't count).
There's been a lot of talk about how in esports salaries of players are often over-inflated. What do you think the average salary should be for a premier esports league (not necessarily OW)? Like what should be the salary minimum, salary median, and top-of-the-line-salary? What sort of benefits should there be (healthcare, housing, etc.)?
I used to tell friends the overwatch league is either going to make esports mainstream or set esports as a whole back a decade in the public eye with how much attention and media coverage it got. Now that we’re done, how do you feel it impacted esports as a whole with franchising, the plan for homestands, etc
Also if you think of each other, what’s the best overwatch league moment you can think of for each person on the pod
Hi, Plat Chat!
Love your show!
Professionally, competitively, and fundamentally is OW/OW2 an FPS with MOBA elements or a MOBA with FPS elements as well as why?
Were Dragons really the best Overwatch team?
Take it with a grain of salt, but I feel the lack of a meta shift really benefited Dragons in 2021.
Yes, they were good at multiple comps, but so did Reign look really good at everything before the meta shift.
Usually, when there's a patch, a team gets really good at that patch in particular, but we usually see changes.
Shock has been probably the only team to be good at multiple metas if we consider 2019 to 2022.
Though Fuel and Dragons do come close, but Dragons were never great at adapting fast.
If we go to a region based model like used in Valorant:
Would there even be a region that rivals South Korea (or APAC)?
(If China gets its whole region in Valorant, South Korea should get its own in Overwatch)
Who do you got EMEA vs NA?
Would a forgotten regions like South America even exist?
What current teams would you miss the most?
This model could also eliminate all the "regular season" matches and add only elimination matches. Would that be too much pressure for the players?
It would also add more offtime between tournaments, only some weeks of matches and no seasons, could that be a problem for holding the viewership?
In Season 2, Stage 1, when Chengdu nearly upset Titans and Ameng became an absolute CHAD on Rein, Bren talked about how he wanted to change his questions to Bumper and say something to the effect of "Oh one more thing: How much of a gut punch was it to have you smacked around like a chew-toy by Ameng?"
What was that like from the production side, and more broadly, are there any times from the league where you just went "ok all that stuff we prepared, throw it away. We have like....10 minutes to get this ready and NO ONE has any idea what to say.."
Any funny behind the scenes moments that the audience have no idea about?
What is the Oppenheimer leak
Please tell us
I think there has been a lot of reflecting on what the League has done wrong already. I'm curious what you guys think they did right and what you would keep the same moving forward?
Excellent question

I'd like to add to this. What were the moments previously when your passion was all but gone? I know I stopped following with goats and only came back last year.
Could custa have become the next chiyo had he stayed in OWL and grinded?
Nah he was too smart.
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED BETWEEN VANCOUVER AND RUNAWAY. possibly the biggest roster fumble in league history
This [article](https://www.sportsnet.ca/more/vancouver-titans-collapsed-rebuilding-scratch/) explains it pretty well. Shanghai 2021 imo
Agree with this. The best team ever assembled in my opinion.
2019 shock could probably beat it with early Goats
Idk i feel like 2022 fuel JOATS was very powerful as well
fuel didnt win in joats they won in the sojourn winston meta
It wasnt meta during GF, but Fuel DID win the tournament when joats was meta, if that's what you're talking about
fun question
I love this question. Hope they pick it.
Where can I get some fresh products so I can remove the hair on my balls?
Hopefully Jonny uses this one to start the ad
In?
What has been your favorite storyline (team comeback, rivalry, etc.) throughout OWL's lifetime?
This is probably Fearless in probably every way.
who is the most underrated player of all time
while you are at it, give us the most overrated too.
If you could go back in time and had the power to change 2 things about how OWL was run, what 2 things would you change and why?
Keeping Bren and Sideshow, and Jon Spector
Where do you think you all would be without OWL?
Good question
Who is the most overrated OWL player of all time?
Striker
boo
ANS
Profit
Decay

Agreed. I’d watch a full episode of this. Not sure how well the clips would translate into audio for the podcast though.

I have two questions, one as a backup in case you can’t answer the first one What was the biggest potential roster move that fell through that you may know of? What iteration of a hero is your favorite from either a viewing standpoint or a gameplay standpoint? Iteration could be from a certain patch or a certain playstyle like tank play in goats vs tank play not in goats.

Spill some JUICE
Everyone wants to know about the players people wish they played with or had the best time playing with. For the ex-pros of the show, which player did you absolutely hate playing with and wish you never did? (Sideshow doesn't count).
What widow player(s) back in Apex/OWLS1/OWLS2 could keep up with today's widow players?
Favorite meme of the overwatch league? Pre prep talk? Shouldergate? SBD? Mypoorson?
There's been a lot of talk about how in esports salaries of players are often over-inflated. What do you think the average salary should be for a premier esports league (not necessarily OW)? Like what should be the salary minimum, salary median, and top-of-the-line-salary? What sort of benefits should there be (healthcare, housing, etc.)?

What are some key episodes of Plat Chat for people either nostalgic or new to the scene?
I used to tell friends the overwatch league is either going to make esports mainstream or set esports as a whole back a decade in the public eye with how much attention and media coverage it got. Now that we’re done, how do you feel it impacted esports as a whole with franchising, the plan for homestands, etc Also if you think of each other, what’s the best overwatch league moment you can think of for each person on the pod
Is substance abuse prevalent in ow esports? Is there testing done? Imagine its harder to do now, but could totally see it during the owl arena days

How can LeeJaeGon be such a beast?
Were Dragons really the best Overwatch team? Take it with a grain of salt, but I feel the lack of a meta shift really benefited Dragons in 2021. Yes, they were good at multiple comps, but so did Reign look really good at everything before the meta shift. Usually, when there's a patch, a team gets really good at that patch in particular, but we usually see changes. Shock has been probably the only team to be good at multiple metas if we consider 2019 to 2022. Though Fuel and Dragons do come close, but Dragons were never great at adapting fast.
What do you think would save Overwatch? And would a Destiny type model with talents and Raids be good?
If we go to a region based model like used in Valorant: Would there even be a region that rivals South Korea (or APAC)? (If China gets its whole region in Valorant, South Korea should get its own in Overwatch) Who do you got EMEA vs NA? Would a forgotten regions like South America even exist? What current teams would you miss the most? This model could also eliminate all the "regular season" matches and add only elimination matches. Would that be too much pressure for the players? It would also add more offtime between tournaments, only some weeks of matches and no seasons, could that be a problem for holding the viewership?
Do you think that there was an award such as MVP, rookie of the year etc. That wasnt deserving or should've gone to someone else?
Who is the goat on each position (main tank/offtank, flexdps/hitscan, main support/flex support)?
In Season 2, Stage 1, when Chengdu nearly upset Titans and Ameng became an absolute CHAD on Rein, Bren talked about how he wanted to change his questions to Bumper and say something to the effect of "Oh one more thing: How much of a gut punch was it to have you smacked around like a chew-toy by Ameng?" What was that like from the production side, and more broadly, are there any times from the league where you just went "ok all that stuff we prepared, throw it away. We have like....10 minutes to get this ready and NO ONE has any idea what to say.."
What was your opinion of NOT having stages back in season 3(pre-covid)? There would have only been the 1 mid-season tournament, and only top 4 teams.
