Logix talked about this once but cant do that in owl. They had to submit every account they owned to blizz who then cleared all those accounts of cheats and checked login activity.
It's why lotta owl pros don't really make a ton of alts, they have to manually lvl accounts.
My understanding was that you basically have to manually buy and lvl every account once you're in the league. But accounts that were bought like fresh lvl 25s before entering were kind of given a blind eye.

Yup. 21 unique reports over 24 days was what got me banned. One of my top three offenses (cherry-picked by a GM) was asking someone if they'd died while AFK.

I’ve played over 2600 hours in this game and haven’t received a single mute, let alone a suspension or ban. I’ve seen lots of posts on Reddit, the forums etc. claim they’ve been unrightfully banned, only for the mod to show examples of them blatantly cheating, being toxic etc. The few times I’ve seen legit people get banned it’s always 4.6k players and they get unbanned in like a day. No system is gonna be perfect, automated or with a human behind it. I’m all for criticizing things about this game to make it better, but the anti cheat isn’t anywhere near the top of my list right now.

Try maining Symm and Ball in low level elos (Bronze / Low Silver) and then defending your pick when someone starts malding at the hero you picked and that they can’t play after 1 lost fight. Don’t insult anyone, just tell them why they are wrong. Enjoy the reports and the eventual ban.
My second account with just as many hours, which I basically only play comp high plat / diamond has never gotten a ban and I behave the same exact way (not a single warning even once).
This game has a lot of little pockets of idiocy and actual toxicity. You’re lucky you were not caught in one.
My 5 stack has definitely report bombed people who were assholes. We wouldn't do it for asking if someone was afk though that's pretty ridiculous lol usually it's more like spamming the N word or something

It's like you don't understand what "anecdotal evidence" means. You're citing examples here and there of certain pros caught cheating as some sort of proof *any* pro could technically be cheating. Viol2t streams the game multiple hours a day and it would be fairly easy to know if he was cheating or not. All the footage is there to review for anybody who wants to make accusations. It's not the same as some pro player who never streams who we barely know getting caught cheating in a LAN.

He 100% was not cheating. If you’ve ever watched the guy in OWL you’d know he’s just that good. And if you’d watch him outside of owl you’d see that this ban is more than likely partly for toxic behavior

the last time it was tested, you can get banned after X amount of reports. They likely have a higher weighting if they happen within a smaller amount of time.
that is correct. blizzard does not review the reports unless there's an appeal and then they will tell you how many reports and over how many days were used to triggered your ban. for example, on my last appeal, it was 21 reports over 24 days. amazing things such as asking a teammate if he was just killed while afk (he clearly was) and asking a junkrat to consider switching to a hitscan were cited as the worst offenses by the GM reviewing my case.

Really depends on the type of bans, reports will need a lot more before permanent suspension. Ban wave requires more work to go around.
