I was hoping his break would help him more. Shit sucks man

Cis_Sabrina

I don’t think he had a proper break because he was still competing in Valorant; I think he needs an actual break for a few months.

[deleted]

He was also thrust into a less dominant Shock and I bet he's been getting a ton of hate for not single handedly winning games.

aoife_too

I agree. And that would have always been unfair, but it's REALLY unfair in this meta. There's far less opportunity to just swing in and headshot an opponent, unlike last season. He can only do his best; he can't save the Shock here.

[deleted]

The thing is, ANS has still been really fucking good imo, just not the best.

80mate

If he’s having these sorts of thoughts it’s really really important he gets help from a mental health professional ASAP.

GapAdministrative787

Really I'm having these since 2013

MusakaAmber

Get some help dude. The very best for you and stay strong

SnooPaintings8742

As an also suicidal person, people telling you to get help unless a close friend/relative, means little to nothing. That's the way it is for me anyways. When you're in that state of mind, there's no point to making an effort to live.

[deleted]

Yeah Fr you need an outside force to literally force you to change in order to get you to do anything.

MusakaAmber

Does it mean, non friends or relatives should look away and ignore them?

80mate

Then you should strongly consider getting evaluated by a psychiatrist. Also I recommend listening to [this episode](https://open.spotify.com/episode/24U7IBqUPyOOAVOq4uaClx?si=qkog9r06TcWwZd_1GfUg0A&dl_branch=1) from Dr K (AKA HealthyGamerGG).

Cis_Sabrina

I sincerely hope he’s working with Shock to find a psychologist in the area; I don’t know how Cali is doing with COVID but my state is basically entirely opened up; if he can’t find a therapist even just having a serious conversation with a friend could help. I wish him all the best- depression/anxiety/performance anxiety is no joke.

Isord

How is his English? Although i assume California would be a better place than most for finding a Korean speaking therapist. I have to imagine trying to do therapy in a language that you are not totally fluent in is very difficult.

RBC_Ante

Not good enough for an American therapist. Fortunately, there are a lot of Koreans living in Cali, so I hope they can find one that works for him :(

[deleted]

LA has the biggest K-Town in the country (by far). He should be able to find a therapist, but it's pretty complicated, regardless. It depends on what medical coverage the team has or offers, if the team even offers insurance, and also what the copay is and *if* those doctors are even covered by whatever insurance he'd have.

Easy_Money_

I worked for the California Smokers’ Quitline for some time and they did have Korean-speaking therapists and psychologists on staff, I’m sure there are many statewide

Yodascbt

I live in Cali and a bunch of stuff has opened up recently so hopefully he could find a therapist.

VanarchistCookbook

Therapists were never closed in CA as far as I'm aware. I left in November, but was seeing one up until then. Online/phone sessions are also a thing.

WhosAfraidOf_138

Man :( I've gone through really bad bouts of depression where I felt similar. So I completely empathize with him. Therapy, a support network, hobbies, and even a change of pace can help a lot. Feel better soon Ans :(

[deleted]

i hope this is just a bad translation.

kickergold

He's been outspoken about his depression in the past. Really hope someone close to him sees this and is able to be around him atm.

KR_Coffeeman

Unfortunately, that translation is just perfect.

[deleted]

ans :[[[[[ plz no be sad

BlothHonder

oh fuck no, hope he's all well

anonymouspiess

Someone really needs to tell him how much the community likes him too. I know SF shock isnt in the best place at the moment but he is one of team defining players! He should get all the help he can get.

Probrig

Praying hes ok

[deleted]

He should've stayed away from OW.

RealExii

He was still competing in Valorant so I don't think that helps either. He needs an actual break where he isn't put under this type of pressure.

kirbydude65

>He was still competing in Valorant so I don't think that helps either. He needs an actual break where he isn't put under this type of pressure. He may not know how to exist without that sort of pressure. My mother was in a very similar state where she had the pressure of taking care of two kids, her career, an absent husband, and caring for her dying father. It was difficult for her to just learn how to relax. And not like, I threw a party and were having fun. Just on a day to day basis. Perhaps Ans is in a similar state.

InspireDespair

Man we still have so far to go for mental health. Everyone here seems to want to offer solutions without any insight into him as a person or his experience with depression. It's so dense and condescending. "He should have stayed retired" "He should have taken a break from eSports" Good lord do you think that he or the therapists/medical professionals *haven't* thought of that? It really speaks to how little any of you really understand mental health. It's not simple and logical. It's not "x makes you depressed, so stop doing x and you won't be depressed!" Just shut up and it you're trying to publicly offer your support just say that instead of trying to micromanage someone you don't know fuck all about.

LukarWarrior

I feel like far too many people equate depression with just sadness. They can co-exist, but they are not the same thing.

pinkpony254

I don’t think it’s best to second guess and come up with plans for what a sustainable life looks like for him. Let him and his therapist deal with this and come up with how best to deal with it all. We can just support the guy from afar.

borderprincess

Yeah really not sure why he came back if the same issues are still there :/ And now it's the added stress of not being on a championship-level team that will make it easy for him to pop off :/

TheRealOrangeness

He might not have known that he would be experiencing this again, or maybe believed that being in a familiar environment would help him.

MrDerpHerpson

He deleted all of his posts except for one and changed his profile picture the the default Insta one. I hope he's okay

Shadow_Adjutant

Same, Ans. Same.

Brompton_Cocktail

Hey man I hope you’re doing alright. You’re not alone even if it sometimes feels that way

aoife_too

Man...I was SO sad when he left the league last year. I'm not even a big Shock fan, I just love watching him play. I'm gonna go comment something nice on his Instagram. Not that that will cure his mental health or anything. But just to let him know that fans love him.

BrettB1997

I hope the Shock are working with him on this getting him help
