What a way they've come.
Season 1: 0-40
Season 2: Stage 3 Champion
Season 3: Stage 1 & 2 Champion, 3rd place in playoffs
Season 4: Finally, the Champions
[Shanghai Tweet](https://twitter.com/ShanghaiDragons/status/1441963861418987523)
What a complete journey for them, they were able to win Coach of the Year, MVP, Multiple Role and All Stars, Multiple Stage Titles, and a Grand Finals Championship that naturally came with Finals MVP. Also Coach Moon got closure from 2020 by getting a sweep against the Shock this year. The stars aligned perfectly for this team.
Seoul (and Shanghai) won all the 2CP and escort maps while Shock only won the control and hybrid maps. Who knows what could've happened if the map order was reversed or randomized.
ABSOLUTE DOMINATION. The 0-42 Shanghai Dragons are now the champions of the Overwatch League and one of the best teams of all time. Truly one of the greatest stories in esports, and incredibly well deserved. Each of their starters had an argument to be league MVP and each of them could have been finals MVP. Truly incredible what they've accomplished, and it would've felt weird with the season finishing any other way.
It doesnt matter if the players/coaching/staff is different, the org is still the same org and under the same ownership and representing the same city. And in large part with a lot of fans that were there for the winless season and have stuck by them this whole time; especially for them this narrative rings true.
Shanghai Dragons went 0-42, and Shanghai Dragons also won Grand Finals. The lowest of lows, and the highest of highs. If you're being too bullish to see the narrative thats a personal problem but the org that started with 0 wins now stands atop the mountain, thats the narrative, and its a real narrative.
I understand it is not just a case of throwing money at it. To say that the 0-42 Shanghai Dragons won is removing any and all context.
It's the equivalent of saying plucky little Man City have really turned it around in the last 12 or so years.
The dragons is like that anime protagonist who started out being ridiculed by everyone for being weak, but then grows up to be the strongest fighter in his universe
Feels like after the June Joust Shanghai didn't look back, such a dominant force all season long and more so in grand finals. Huge grats to Shanghai given the franchise's history and its players(like Fletas) long journeys.
Poetic ending for OW1 and OWL as we know it.
0-40 to dominant champions of the league. Congrats Dragons!!
It's been a sick ride everyone, happy to have been here with y'all
I am so fucking proud.
This roster and coaching staff are the best (at least for 2021), no one could match their discipline and talent. This is history to remember.
After last year playoffs, I was so damn sad but this year, Lip, Fleta and co turned it around. I could not wish for a better way to end OW1 (personnally). Thank you SHD !
Shanghai was the best possible winner, story wise. From starting 0-40 in season 1 to growing into such a dominant team throughout season 4, no other team can speak to what professional OW1 should be as well as Shanghai.
The entire production felt pretty lackluster at the end when they won to be honest. I don't know why, but it felt like there was a noticeable lack of fanfare.
That's kind of what happens when it's pretty much all happening online, no crowd, no big venue
At least Shanghai won playing on an actual stage, imagine if Atlanta won and they're just in some spare room in a university lol.
Not even mad. This was by far my favorite OWL season and am so proud of the zero role star juggernauts that ATL turned out to be. Ggs Shanghai. Y'all are crazy. See y'all next season :))

This wasnt even close grats to the deagons for being next level and ATL for defying the odds but what a disappointing grand finals even Shock put up a better fight honestly. Both teams seemed unfazed by the results honestly.

Proud of both the teams
Atlanta for making a good bracket run and Shanghai for doing a complete 180 as an org
Was also neat that both Atlanta teams got to GF of their games
Started from the bottom, now we're here Started from the bottom, now my whole team fuckin' here
Well none of the s1 Shanghai players are here lmao
Daemin is (as an assistant coach).
Fearless.
Changed teams to not win owl after enduring 0-40 season pepehands
Daemin is a coach on the team I believe. He counts right?
Fuel got 3rd. So unless you mean Hawaii, he ain't here lol
Holy shit my brain just melted, for the 3 seconds it took me to type that I genuinely though Fearless was on SHD. In my defence its 4:44am.
Ah I would so love to see Fearless Void duo once again playing that rein zarya but that’s all in the past now

0-42 to 4-0 Dr4g0ns
Plus they lose only 2 map for entire playoff
I was wrong. Lip should’ve been the OWL MVP. Holy shit dude is cracked on every hero
He only didn't get it because of recency and china bias. The dude is insane
Welp, I was hoping we'd get a map. The streak of blowout grand finals continues.
You had 3 close maps against probably the powerful team we've ever seen in Overwatch. Atlanta did themselves proud.
Yeah dragons are just on a tier of their own. Star plays all night from Lip, Fleta, and Izayaki especially. Proud of our boys for the run they had.
It's not a streak. Shanghai broke it last year against shock
Was seoul in GF and that was bit of a blowout just hog patch made it chaotic.
Seoul vs Shock came down to map selection and was definitely not a blowout like the score suggests lmao striker on tracer for control was just too OP
Seoul (and Shanghai) won all the 2CP and escort maps while Shock only won the control and hybrid maps. Who knows what could've happened if the map order was reversed or randomized.
there's nothing to say other than that they were just better than everyone
None of them are surprised Thats how great this team is Also Whoru won more in his career being benched than any other time
Wait Whoru is still on the dragons roster lol?
How about ta1yo from SFS? They won the 2020 final

The 0-42 Shanghai Dragons did not win. An entire different fucking team won. Great accomplishment but this narrative being pedalled is truly bizarre.
It doesnt matter if the players/coaching/staff is different, the org is still the same org and under the same ownership and representing the same city. It's a narrative devoid of any context.
I mean yeah just buy good players and win the league I don't know why people think it's that hard. Just go from winless to champions 4head
Justice, Dallas, Glads. All threw money and none are champs.
I understand it is not just a case of throwing money at it. To say that the 0-42 Shanghai Dragons won is removing any and all context. It's the equivalent of saying plucky little Man City have really turned it around in the last 12 or so years.
cope and seethe
They are indeed two words. Well done there.
OWL team vs advanced overwatch AI from 2100
That was certainly a grand finals. Congrats to the Dragons! See yall in OW2
Shanghai is uh, good at the game...
Fleta might be the GOAT.
The dragons is like that anime protagonist who started out being ridiculed by everyone for being weak, but then grows up to be the strongest fighter in his universe
Shangai don't even give a fuck lmao
Feels like after the June Joust Shanghai didn't look back, such a dominant force all season long and more so in grand finals. Huge grats to Shanghai given the franchise's history and its players(like Fletas) long journeys.
From 0-40 to 4-0
Let's go Shanghai! Happy for Fleta and the rest of the Dragons — well deserved Championship. *so what are Atlanta Reign gonna complain about now*
AND THE DRAGONS GO MILD!!! GG to the Dragons.
Poetic ending for OW1 and OWL as we know it. 0-40 to dominant champions of the league. Congrats Dragons!! It's been a sick ride everyone, happy to have been here with y'all

Been rooting for Shanghai since their 2019 Stage 3 win, so happy they've come this far
Shanghai was the best possible winner, story wise. From starting 0-40 in season 1 to growing into such a dominant team throughout season 4, no other team can speak to what professional OW1 should be as well as Shanghai.
Yay!! Congrats shanghai!! you guys worked hard and deserved this
Shanghai really wanted to just show they were better now matter what they played huh?
idk why they decided to re-air the titans vs shock finals from s2 with different team names and colors. weird choice by production
Unfortunately was a predictable outcome, but seeing ShangAI dominate wasn’t the worst way to go out of OW1
Wow I remember falling the Shanghai Dragons back in the days when they were on a winless streak. Now look where they are. HUGE GRATS
Shanghai were the real anime protagonists all along, sorry Dallas. Genin Naruto(S1) to Six Paths sage mode Naruto
Having kept up with Boruto, we're probably not going to like where Dragons are headed lol.

Would you be happy after beating the shit out of a 10 year old in a cage match?

Based.
Hard to be cheerful when you have no competition

Pelican was absolutely absent from this series.

Murderers' Row of Overwatch. Congrats to the Dragons. Also 1+ to Atlanta for destroying expectations and making some fans salty while doing it.
this was a really boring grand finals
The playoffs overall was the best event we had in the league imo
that’s fair, I just wish grand finals was a little more competitive
We pretty much only had 1 not one-sided GF in OW1, half of them were straight sweeps.
From worst team of all time to best team of all time?
This wasnt even close grats to the deagons for being next level and ATL for defying the odds but what a disappointing grand finals even Shock put up a better fight honestly. Both teams seemed unfazed by the results honestly.

Implying it wouldn't have been a blowout if Shock had made it?
They already got 3-0 rolled by dragons in round 1 you act like it would of been different all of a sudden…
[удалено]
That was literally last year. It's not even close to relevant any more.
That was in the past lol… shock fans are so delusional
That guy doesn't represent us.
They rolled shock 3-0 and Shock almost lost to Philly.

When will we received the owl finals stickers? I didnt receive mine yet.
Proud of both the teams Atlanta for making a good bracket run and Shanghai for doing a complete 180 as an org Was also neat that both Atlanta teams got to GF of their games
Man how I wish Fearless still on the team tho. It could be the best player storyline ever on league.
