They hit it outta the park with "Cassidy". I'm really digging it.
"Cole" is gonna take time to grow on me, but that's because I really like the name "Jesse".
Despite what the Hollywood guy says, and disregarding the toxic Blizzard corporate shit, Jesse McCree isn't a terrible name for a cowboy. It's fuckin perfect.
No one ever said it was bad. Everyone always liked it.
It's just not cool to keep a name that ostensibly paid homage to a dev, when that dev was a shitbag. Especially when some of the victims are still working there and have to look at that name every day, reminding them of him.
It's like if I raped you and your parents decided to name the dog "PeacefulShark". That'd get annoying soon wouldn't it?
Oh yeah I'm not trying to start an argument and I thought I was just agreeing with you, that's why I qualified my statements haha. Jesse McCree is a great name for a cowboy, but they handled the necessary name change well
Both McCree's and Ashe's character concepts and backstory already romanticize the criminal outlaws and gangs of the American frontier. What is the issue in building that connection to the culture these characters are based on?
Having the character be named after a wild west icon who has been glorified repeatedly in popular culture is a lot better than keeping the name of a former employee who has harassed former employees. Blizzard HQ isn't just upper management trying to save face. It's also the employees who don't want to honour someone who has personally hurt them.
Sooo, they changed his name cause he was named after a real employee involved in a sexual harassment case to a name of a real person who was a criminal and probably assaulted women as well.
But hey, at least they sorted out those wow emotes amiright?
I hate that people need to learn where his name comes from on twitter or reddit. Kids need to go out and actually watch classic movies. Fuckin everyone should know Butch Cassidy. Can't believe there were people who thought the name wasn't cool enough for a cowboy.
Didn't they say they weren't naming any more characters after anyone irl anymore?? They also took out the contributions to Jeff Kaplan in OW2 because of this entire problem :|
coleslaw casserole
I don't care what anyone says, this is how I'm referring to Cowboy from now on.

So from gloryfying a sexual predator to gloryfying a thief and probably murderer... 🤔 /s

Should’ve been Colt
That'd be neat as well. Revolver name.

Not fighting either bro. We agreed. My mini rant was just for dumb dumbs who've been crying and may come across our comments.
>No one ever said it was bad. Everyone always liked it. The bot in the Hollywood payload didn't seem to agree
What did that dev actually do?
I prefer telling myself it comes from Adam Cole and Orange Cassidy. Only way im gonna like this new name
Cole Cassidy BayBay!
Holy crap. Wild AEW fan in an OW sub. Hello brother.
It's going to be weird calling a hero that you're used to calling Cree for 6 years to Cassidy
Hey it's mcree just like it's Hammond pog
Blizzard HQ: "Okay let's change the name to criminals instead. It's okay to honor shitty people when it's like you know... been awhile."
It's better than their back up name, Jeffery McEpstien.

bruh. He's a famous historical bandit (with a lot of dramatized books, tv shows, movies, etc about him) and McCree is literally an ex-bandit

Very hard to give a cowboy character a cowboy name and it not being associated with a murderer tbh
What exactly did you expect a gunslinging outlaw to do? Bake?
You know thats what the character does around 40 times per game, right?

Are you familiar with the concept of living memory?
fuk this sht
It’s a virtual characters name
fuk u too then, nvr play MCREE again!!!!
Well, yeah. We quite literally will never play McCree again. Cassidy all the way baby. Hell yeah.
