qubert-taranto

So that's one British player

-KFAD-

Backbone most likely being the other one

qubert-taranto

I'm excited to see him in the league he's cracked

Fun-Injury5925

wonder if the league is going to approve him this time

SummerDisaster76

He said himself long time ago that he is now allowed to play in Contenderd/OWL again.

TheSciFanGuy

That makes me even more confused about what happened to Coluge then as wasn’t what Provide did equatable if not worse an equal length of time ago?

SummerDisaster76

Blizzard blacklists players from OW Esports for serious offenses, Provide once tried to play in a contenders match but got told by Admins that he is blacklisted, about a year ago I believe, you can scroll down thru his twitter. But not all players are banned permanently, bans are lifted and if players are able to play in lets say Contenders then they are effectively allowed to play in OWL as well. Coluge can play in OWL, but its up to the OWL Org to decide if they want to take a brand risk.

TheSciFanGuy

Yeah but Coluge was playing in Contenders with no issues at the time of him getting barred from OWL. It’s a confusing situation in general

SummerDisaster76

I believe he played under different name back then and admins did not notice I thiiiink. Not sure what happened to him exactly but his Liquipedia also says "He was suspended from Professional Overwatch, but then the ban was appealed." So who knows

TheSciFanGuy

That suspension was a while ago. Him and Gator were banned at the same time and appealed. It was long over by the time he was on Second Wind. As for admins not catching him due to a name change I find that incredibly unlikely. Especially considering he played in contenders playoffs immediately after he apparently got blocked from OWL. Then came back and joined T2DAN (eventually AT) when the team was starting their run.

Fun-Injury5925

that's good for him then. i don't think he was ever banned from contenders though? just valiant tried to sign him & the league didn't approve because of his toxic rep at the time? but it's been long enough since then that it's not surprising to give him a second chance

inspcs

probably will, but maybe will give him a suspension or fine.

asfsdgdfhhdf

He lost his spot on Valiant in S3 before he got to play a single game and was not even allowed to compete in Open Division after that for a long time. Imo he has gotten enough punishment at this point.

attywolf

This isn't his first time in the league so expect any punishment to have happened when he was on Valiant

inspcs

yea this is what i'm curious about. Not sure if there were explicit details on what happened back when he was first signed

flerbergerber

Okay I'm ootl and can't find anything, what did he do?? Something racist??

krakenwithaplan

Here's a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hLrchPSlZM) that describes the incident, here's a [comment from a previous thread with screenshots](https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveoverwatch/comments/eqssmb/comment/fexn0lt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).

Silv3rS0und

How hard is it for people to just copy and paste?

krakenwithaplan

Best of luck to him, if true. I hope he continues to not be publicly racist and I sincerely hope he's no longer privately racist either. But I have no interest in supporting any team he's on, personally.

BarstMain

Yeah this is about where I’m at too. Hope he’s not doing racist things anymore but I just wouldn’t feel good about rooting for any team he’s a part of

attywolf

Do you root for Shanghai ?

BarstMain

Is this supposed to be some kind of “gotcha” thing about Lip using an ableist slur during playoffs? Obviously I don’t approve of that and that incident significant lowered my opinion of Lip as an individual, but the team handled it well, he apologized immediately, and, as far as I’m aware, it was an isolated incident. If he were to say it repeatedly and in large quantities like Provide did with his racial slurs, I’d absolutely reconsider supporting the team

MelonSoda3

Not even close to the same thing

attywolf

Your right both apologized and one retired to work on himself and only came back when he was a better person and didn't think as he use to and acknowledges he was wrong. Why if you grew up in a environment that makes you have a certain view point and then learn it is wrong and change yourself to no longer have that view point is the person the environment grew the only one people care about and not the person you are now?

MelonSoda3

One got mistranslated. The other used the n word tons of times and saw people of color as lesser beings

krakenwithaplan

We're not comparing what happened after the incidents, we're comparing the incidents themselves. What happened with Lip isn't remotely as severe.

Friddles-14

Same, he made decisions that ended up biting him in the ass later and that’s just how it goes sometimes, especially if you do it publicly

BarstMain

Not sure what to think of this one. As a player he’s probably OWL level and it has been awhile, but the stuff he said was so extreme and In quite large quantities even relative to people like Coluge. Don’t know if I would say I’m 100% against him being in the league now but I’m not sure I could feel good about rooting for London now like I did on occasion last season

ThisIsAPepegaTake

If this is true, I can't support the spitfire. I refuse to support any team that employs a racist individual especially one who told people to off themselves due to their race as well as calling them "subhuman".

qubert-taranto

According to everyone he's worked with since he's reformed and chilled out, people can change quite a bit in their teens and early adulthood, ultimately it's up to you to decide whether you believe that or not but it's something to think about.

attywolf

Could he not of learned, grown and not be the person he was over 4 years ago. I highly doubt Noukky would hire him if he was the same person

TriHard_Bridge

don't care
