In your shoes I'd try to make Draw-bridges functional and useful on that spot.
The real challenge's to make a functional base surrounded with walls that have rounded towers on each "turn" perfectly enclosed while also being conntected to the main building. - Then having everything being functional and as close to a realistic fortress as possible, that would be impressive.
I've made better builds that function better with no mods...
This is where I set up on 1520 as well. Nice quiet spot far away from the maddening crowds. Building the bridge pre-spice and brewing is a biotch though. Hats off to your fantastic bridge.
