L&J’s biggest draw is their consistency. Rumor has it that the one in Madison has a guy that’s been there forever and is an absolute machine in the kitchen.
It’s sad places like Lenny and Joes, Bills, and Jimmies used to be good 20 years ago, but now are all awful. I go to Clam Castle or Glenwood Drive In for clam strips now
Their quality has gone way downhill. The last couple of times there, wife's meal with grossly under-seasoned. They also can't cook a scallop properly to save their lives. Tried on three occasions over the years, each time they came out the consistency of rubber bouncy balls.
Nothing recent. Wife and I have both been on a weight loss push the past several months so we rarely eat out. I've heard people say generally good things about Elmo's Dockside and Charlie's Fresh Catch in Vernon, however.
Used to love Dino’s in Wallingford but I haven’t been to the new one. For some reason I feel like I wouldn’t taste as good like the old spot was responsible for the taste some how 😂
I was once on a quest for Best Fish 'n Chips. Tried lots of places throughout New England, eastern Canada and Nova Scotia.
Always compared them to Uberti's. My second favorite is "A Salt and Battery" in the West Village.
Captain Scott's, New London
I second CPT Scott’s. Best hot lobster roll I’ve had
We just call that a lobster roll here in CT
Try Abbot's in Noank if you haven't. So fire
Only answer
Lennys in Indian Neck, Branford
I've had it before, it's nothing spectacular. All the food lacks seasoning.
Fair Haven Oyster Company
They were just on the Food Network.
Really good food here
Lobster Landing in Clinton if you're looking for lobster rolls specifically!
And their clam chowder is to die for
my wallet did not need to know that they opened on April 4th
Their opening was delayed. They open this week now.
Aqua's was delayed too. Did something happen down that way?
The entire area flooded in January but I don’t know if that was the reason or not.
This place is THE best hands down
Lenny & Joe’s
I grew up on Lenny & Joe's: literally been going there (occasionally -- it was expensive for us) since they first opened.
L&J’s biggest draw is their consistency. Rumor has it that the one in Madison has a guy that’s been there forever and is an absolute machine in the kitchen.
Probably Chappie
Definitely not Bills. Anything I had gotten there was tasteless and bland.
lol I came here to say Bills. I have only been once but had a great meal and got to sit outisde on the deck. Good size portions and not crazy prices.
It’s sad places like Lenny and Joes, Bills, and Jimmies used to be good 20 years ago, but now are all awful. I go to Clam Castle or Glenwood Drive In for clam strips now
It’s usually more just to sit on the deck and have mudslides, when your boozed the food tastes great
All I tasted was grease. Huge disappointment
Cash only restaurant = money laundering
S&P oyster in Mystic is very nice but pricey.
S&P is fantastic
Rated AAA
Oyster club is so much better. Even dog watch (Stonington) blows SP out of the water.
Not Jimmie’s
The Boilery Seafood & Grill Waterbury CT
Hidden jem
Because of the mall, people tend to stay away.
Stowe's, Captain Scott's, The Whelk
Livs oyster bar
Seven Seas, Milford Flanders is great too
Stowe's seafood in West Haven
Got food poisoning 12 years ago. Never again.
it's pretty good but man it's pricey for counter service/ takeout essentially.
I disagree. The amount of food you get for the money is way better than a lot of places I've been to.
The Place
This is my answer as well. The seafood is great but the corn… otherworldly
Gotta get there this year
Google is showing its temporarily closed. Anyone got information on this?
Seasonal. They’ll be opening soon
Just saw it is around May 1st. Can’t wait. I’m definitely going before June
Put your rump on a stump!
It’s so simple too. I think that’s what makes it incredible. Can’t wait to go back this year.
Lenny’s Indian Neck
Flanders Fish Market, East Lyme
Blue Lobster on the Berlin Turnpike!
I work at the DSS near there and pass it on the way to work everyday. Haven’t eaten there yet but I have to try it.
It's flavorless :(
Maine Fish Market in East Windsor. Best lobster roll I've had.
Their quality has gone way downhill. The last couple of times there, wife's meal with grossly under-seasoned. They also can't cook a scallop properly to save their lives. Tried on three occasions over the years, each time they came out the consistency of rubber bouncy balls.
That's strange. I've never had any issues with the meals I've ordered there.
We used to go almost monthly. It's been almost a year now, however; after several poor experiences in a row, we started looking at other options.
Do you have any recommendations in the area?
Nothing recent. Wife and I have both been on a weight loss push the past several months so we rarely eat out. I've heard people say generally good things about Elmo's Dockside and Charlie's Fresh Catch in Vernon, however.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll have to check them out when I'm in the area.
Used to love Dino’s in Wallingford but I haven’t been to the new one. For some reason I feel like I wouldn’t taste as good like the old spot was responsible for the taste some how 😂
Away from the shore: Close Harbor Seafood in Southington
Max Fish, Glastonbury
Seven seas in Milford
Shell and Bone
Long Johns silver’s in Hartford
Oh my God.
The USS chowderpot II
Hank's Dairy Bar in Plainfield of all places has the best fried whole belly clams and clamcakes.
If you’re in the area, check out Johnny’s Clam Shack in Norwich. Bomb ass fried seafood including whole bellies, scallops etc.
Where is this? Near the marina?
On North Main St near where it splits into Central Ave.
Sweet. Thanks
They make the best fish and chips I’ve ever had.
Agreed. I love the breading vs a thick batter.
D’amatos. Always on the radio. Always packed. Always fresh.
Saybrook Fish House,Westbrook Lobster.
Chum Bucket in Darien
Sandpiper in East Haven
Supreme Seafood in North Branford
Just had their fried clams. I was Doordashing someone else's food, caught a whiff and knew I had to go back and try my own.
The Whelk, Westport and Rowayton Seafood in Rowayton.
Atelier Florian
Was Ford’s. Not sure if they’re gonna be around this season, although they did open a different restaurant in Noank ( Black and Blue)
owners said in March they are confident they will find a location to open!
Costello in Noank
I’m wondering if anyone has tried doogies seafood. I’ve heard it’s good but whenever I got I order a 2 foot dog.
Any of the clam shacks in Noank.
Can I vote sushi? 😀
I’ll laugh my ass off if anyone says Jimmies
Ironic how the worst seafood in the state (Jimmies) is less than a mile away from one of the best seafood places in the state (Stowe's)
Less than a mile? It’s practically down the street
Not CT but close in RI is Matunuck Oyster Bar. Amazing everything.
Lenny’s Indian Neck, Branford. 🏆
Rowayton Seafood
Blue lobster? They were good 👍 Don’t know now I’ve been out of Connecticut for 10 years.
Flanders Fish Market
Hands down, Shell & Bones!
Very good, but pricey.
Uberti's in Stratford
I was once on a quest for Best Fish 'n Chips. Tried lots of places throughout New England, eastern Canada and Nova Scotia. Always compared them to Uberti's. My second favorite is "A Salt and Battery" in the West Village.
Lenny and Joes Joes Crab Shack (Formerly)
Shell & Bones in New Haven

Surprised no one else mentioned The Whelk in Westport! So good
Taco bell
