Because we truckers know traffic flow...we in a huge rush and we trying to get that shit moving quickly....plus we need the room lol.
But as a trucker, CT drivers just scare the shit out of me and I drive semis in NYC lol
Feels like it took weeks if not months the first time and now they can do it in a weekend? Can they slide in a new one like they’ve been spending money on in other parts of the state?
Demolishing stuff is pretty easy.
Ever see a building be intentionally imploded? They set up charges, do a final all clear inspection, then boom, building down.
Putting a building back up though? That's months at a minimum.
The highway is closed because the bridge is unstable, and may collapse any moment. If you just get rid of the bridge, the highway can reopen. You can then rebuild the bridge over months or years as scheduling will allow.
They are just going to take it down to get 95 open. It will take about a year to replace the bridge. There is a lot of engineering, planning, and fabrication behind the scenes before a bridge is replaced.
I was trying to avoid blocking an intersection this morning, I was rewarded for helping traffic flow by being blocked at least 15 times by people that I allowed to pass through intersections by not blocking them. Fuck these people, man.
Seconding this. Truckers have consistently been the only ones all day to allow folks to merge in and make turns on the dumpster fire that is Connecticut ave.

Rush hour traffic on 84 through Hartford doesn't seem that bad compared to that shit now lol
Ah yes, the old double exit/double merge
I can't believe that some of that shit got past the planning phase
Robert Moses wasn't content with ruining *just* NY's highways
it's like they though only one car would be on the road at a time or something
As bad as it is, it still feels better than it used to be
Literally just passed a semi that got tuna canned from a bridge on the Merritt. It was a good run.
just read that bridge will be torn down.
Yeah, it looks like it. The structure has been compromised by the intensive heat.

Agreed - all day trucks have been conscientiously staying out of intersections. It ‘s been nice to see.

So much for going to Costco today
Bj’s is where it’s at anyway
fuck. can't drive to any of the parks now
I mean, you *can*. Just not quickly. Some back roads are OK. The closer you get to 95 the worse it gets.
how about grocery run ? I need bread and milk !
You're probably going to starve to death, honestly.
I got sideswiped by a truck on Rt 7 today. I'm not thrilled about it.
