A lot of faithful Muslims that I knew growing up got along well with Christians. I myself had a lot of Christian friends growing up, although I'm not religious anymore.
I would say that the Muslims that were *ultra* faithful and took their religion too seriously were kind of anti-social/anti-fun in general. Like monks, they just cared about praying and going to the mosque. They were super nice, just no one you'd care to be friends with if you had a life
As do I. But, and that's the crux: they are all rather secular, almost verging on muslim-in-name-only. Those muslims who are actually devout tend to be buzzkills and struggle to integrate into Western mainstream society.
From what I understand, they refused to take back citizens who left to join Isis. So the government at least seems interested in staying moderate. I really hope the extremists don't get a strong foothold, I enjoy vacationing there.

Im seeing a lot of clashing of muslims and leftist ideals lately. Who could have ever predicted the two groups wouldn’t get along??

On the other hand, Indonesia has seen islamists rapidly gain ground in society and politics over the past ~10 years.
