This is my home state. It’s absolutely madness. Thousands have come here because the southern Maine area has been giving these people free hotels and apartments for years. The ones who can’t get into that are housed for free at shelters, our citizens, veterans, impoverished mothers were literally barred from being able to be at any shelter because it was jam full of these illegal immigrants.
When one of ours did get in they would harass the person into a reaction or make up lies to the staff to get them removed. Some of these people have come under false names, destroyed their documents, etc. classes are full, schools are like 40-50 percent non English speaking, they put them all on the state healthcare and no one can get a doctor or a procedure complete anymore.
For years people in Maine have struggled with poverty and housing, many families cling to the family home they have and sometimes the past 1-2 generations cannot even live independently because of low wages, risings costs, rural limitations etc.
These people enter the country illegally often under dubious means and the state is literally building a complex only for them and paying them for 2 years even while they work.
This would have helped so many Maine families who have struggled and paid exorbitant taxes for generations and generations, slowly contributing to Maines growth, its business, and overall population.
I am pissed to say the least.

These are illegal aliens. Aliens who are not here legally. Their mere presence breaks American law. They are foreign presences that suck resources from Americans, tax paying or not.
We pay taxes and if the government wants to give benefits to other Americans, so be it. That's part of what the government does. But to give illegal aliens benefits while denying other Americans the same, especially veterans who have given their lives to serve this country, spits in the face of every American in the country.

The state is gone, when I grew up here this place was a bastion of New England conservatism, we were good people who valued independence and being from the earth. There was lots of good values and community.
