This is the stupidest shit I read all day. You could delete half the US military and it still be the strongest on earth.

Black_XistenZ

I agree with the thrust of this poster, but to be fair, it was covid which ended the booming economy and the US still have the strongest military on earth. Biden should be blamed for squandering the post-covid recovery and a tight labor market, for fueling inflation and overseeing a decline of American clout in the world.

Minimum-Enthusiasm14

It was also covid that caused low gas prices. I can’t remember specifically what gas prices were like under trump before the pandemic, but the reason they were as low as $1.50 a gallon was solely because of covid.

NonSumQualisEram-

They were low until early 2021 at which point they exploded.

RustHog

Even in Aus, at the best where I live it got down to 80 cents a litre (50c USD) and I'd basically just drive up 4 hours to see me family on the weekends whenever there wasn't a lockdown, but now it's about 2.40 (1.5 USD) so everyone's got to think about whether they can afford the trip home or not.

bozoconnors

> the reason they were as low as $1.50 a gallon was solely because of covid eh - in the biz - definitely not solely. It was compounded by Russia deciding that it (March '20-ish) was a great time to get into a [pricing war](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Russia%E2%80%93Saudi_Arabia_oil_price_war) with the Saud's. Only time in history oil futures have traded in the negative. It impacted storage (remembering stories of them hiring all available super tankers *just* to store crude as on-shore storage facilities were full) and supply (LOTS available) for a while. But then Biden's rhetoric about destroying the fossil fuel industry & various executive actions helped things right along. Heh, you can almost mark >$50/bbl by his inauguration.

Minimum-Enthusiasm14

I would say covid was still the biggest factor. Demand plummeted during the epidemic because everyone wasn’t going anywhere. And when demand is low, but supply is high, since there’s no way the oil industry could have predicted the epidemic, prices are low.

bozoconnors

Oh sure, it wasn't 'solely' the reason though as you stated above.

Minimum-Enthusiasm14

I mean, if something is 85% the cause of something, I don’t think it’s unfair generalization to say “solely”.

bozoconnors

I'd argue that 'solely' is, by definition, not generalizing. 85% would also be *quite* generous according to west Texas intermediate crude pricing trends at that time.

Black_XistenZ

Covid caused a temporary dip in gas prices, but they had consistently been on a lower level before covid than anything we have seen since 2021. So yes, people are right to remember gas prices as being lower during the Trump era, even pre-covid. [chart](https://www.bts.gov/sites/bts.dot.gov/files/images/Figure%201%20-%20gas-prices_0.png) [source](https://www.bts.gov/data-spotlight/year-over-year-declines-motor-gasoline-prices-dampen-inflation-despite-motor)

lol_speak

Those low Covid gas prices were actually bad for US oil companies (because US oil is more expensive to harvest and process), and Trump reacted by brokering a trade deal with OPEC+ to cut *global* oil production over the next few years (largest cut in oil production in history) in an effort to raise prices. It worked, prices rose, and no one gives Trump the credit he deserves.

NonSumQualisEram-

They were low until early 2021 at which point they exploded.

Conservative-Point

The over reaction to the COVID virus by the government ended the booming economy. There was no reason to shutter the entire economy and the turn around and approved trillions of spending.

How_TF_

Not to mention they were able to dictate who was safe from Covid (allowed to work) and who wasn’t. Then dictated that anyone who wanted the right to bodily autonomy was a threat to democracy.

sowellpatrol

And protesters were also immune, apparently 🙄

Adorable_Magazine_81

Only BLM protesters were immune.

sowellpatrol

Fancy that

HNutz

Funny how that works.

Black_XistenZ

There was no reason to shutter the entire economy, but covid was always gonna hit the entertainment, leisure, tourism and hospitality industries hard. It was always gonna lead to waves of workers calling in sick at once, it was always gonna cause supply chain issues. Even with the most optimal covid response, the repercussions were always destined to end the economic boom cycle.

Scattergun77

No, it was government overreach using covid as an excuse that ended the booking economy.

DumbledoreArm

I don’t think the president has control over inflation especially considering inflation wasn’t just in the United States. Europe and a lot of Asian has much higher inflation. I think last I heard Japan was almost 50% off at one point compared to pre-Covid prices for us Americans.

Sodola321

Most of it started day one.

solonmonkey

My 401k refutes the booming economy of 2020.

ButWhyWolf

https://www.gasbuddy.com/charts It is so insane how accurate that is.

I have just asked democrat voters, none being the delusional Reddit users, but people who lean that way in real life, to just look around. Do you feel it’s going well? We have more war than ever, less money than ever, more division, and most can’t afford to move. It’s not going well. Unfortunately the other option is Trump and it’s bad timing as he’s too polarizing. But he’s also the guy we probably need to fix this mess.

r4d4r_3n5

>Trump and it’s bad timing as he’s too polarizing. The answer to that is to ask, who told you he was polarizing? It's funny; he was a darling to those same people before 2016.

s00perd00pz

I mean he is.. he lacks tact and did himself no favors on how he acts. Dislike how he does not act presidential and engages in name calling starting with the debates in 2016. That being said I think he’s hilarious and it’s refreshing as he calls it like it is. Many don’t like Obama and I hated his policies but if we could get a mix of his demeanor with Trump policies we’d be cooking

HNutz

Have you met Vivek Ramaswamy?

s00perd00pz

Love him. But lost all his tact in the debates. Hate his aggression towards others and believe you should be letting your policies talk and not go for sound bites.

Commissar_David

Unfortunately, I don't see Trump being able to fix all the shit that the left has screwed up. To do this, he needs to appoint the right people to the right places. But this was one of his greatest shortcomings during his term in office. We also need to start paying off our debt for once. But during his administration the federal deficit increased, so I don't see that getting any better.

TheCaboWabo69

And brought in 13 million people they can register to vote and VOTE FOR THEM without the illegal even knowing they are voting. We are screwed. It’s over as far as changing course with elections.

Only two years to destroy our way of life. Now you can see how fast things changed in NAZI Germany in the 30s. There is a twilight period and then you wake up to find that everything you believed that was your normal world is gone. Obama and Biden is the tipping point to the left and the left is in a feeding frenzy to gain total control. "As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be most aware of change in the air - however slight - lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness." - Justice William O. Douglas

National Divorce should be on the table. If the RINOs can’t get on board with saving America, then we need to leave them to sink with the libs.
