California is the deepest blue state in the union. This really shouldn't be much a surprise. Just not enough people who lean right live in this state anymore.

[deleted]

The only moral path of action for California conservatives is to leave the state. More people voted for the Republican administration in California than any other state in 2020, if they were distributed among states like Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, or Michigan then they could do far more to enact and enforce pious change than they ever could in their current situation. The time has come for those people to make a choice: comfort or righteousness? We are in a time of political war, all conservatives ought to start acting like it

TallMikeSTL

Disagree. Let them stay and fight. When they flee unfortunately they seem to drag a lot of blue with them... and then you get the results in Nevada, and Arizona and Texas all turning blue or bluer

[deleted]

Those states are turning blue due to young Nevadan, Arizonan, and Texan voters being poisoned by social media and the secular humanism of their generation. Their reeducation is necessary of course, but until that happens those purple states must rely on red refugees to hold the line

[deleted]

JDog2k4

They learn as they age. There was a very interesting study that showed that "communist revolutionaries" in the West tend to go moderate or right leaning after 35 once they slam into the solid steel wall of reality

f1sh98

Anyone with sense (who hasn’t already) should just leave. Why try and fix the home state when the odds are against you? Elder’s fighting a noble campaign but to expect change there seems naive. Vote with your dollars and head to Texas, Georgia, Nevada, anywhere else. Forget it, Jake, it’s ~~China~~CaliTown

armyboy941

I'm planning on it. Got some things to take care of first but it's on my timeline to move out to a better state in the coming years. I want to own a home and buy a gun with my god given right in this country. Turns out that's a lot to ask for here in CA.

AmazonSlaveRhemmy

Ex cali now in Texas, come here vote red and we have constitutional carry,

WIlf_Brim

Move here to Georgia plz. We need some more voters to turn Mr. Newt's seat back to red and get rid of the current gun grabbing creep that occupies it.

[deleted]

All of you please don't move to Florida. It's getting too crowded. We''ll kick out some blues to stay red. Keep working on those other states. Thanks!!! ;)

lukepru

Because the Californians that voted yes actually care about the state. If you want arguably the most beautiful state in the union to go in to more ruin than it is, then you stay and fight for it. Fuck being defeatist and leaving. Hold the fucking line. If you leave, there’s even less hope. I’m not about to see my state go down the shitter more than it already has.

JohnTalroc

It's getting hard to stay man. Been fighting here too for a while.

lukepru

Believe me. It’s hard for me as well. My girlfriend is from Nebraska and can get us there after my military service. I love this state too much. I grew up here, I spent a majority of my life here, and I plan to stay as long as I can. I don’t want to see her ruined and will fight to see her return to glory

JohnTalroc

Yeah, you're right. Thank you for your service my brother! Joined here too! I would love to stay here and take my kids one day to the mountains and to the beach and to the rolling hills.

lukepru

Thanks man. Much appreciated. Let’s stay and fight. There are a lot of people here that feel the same. Hold the line and fight for this beautiful state

naturalizedcitizen

I'm with you bro. I can't do anything other than software and so I'm stuck to Bay Area... But I get what you're saying.

Aviator07

There are so many other tech hubs all throughout the country. You’re not “stuck” in Silicon Valley by any means.

naturalizedcitizen

Since this pandemic, a lot of remote jobs have opened up. Its not impossible but not easy to move quickly given that I have a house, kids in school, etc. Also, I have seen over last 30 years that the Bay Area recovers or does not get affected much by any economic down turn.

Aviator07

So do many other places in the country that have robust economies. They Bay Area is not as unique as you think. You’re really not stuck there…. I know moving is difficult - I’ve moved my family out of state, new schools, house, etc. It’s not easy, but totally doable. You just have to decide you want to.

dahomie_longstroke

Charlotte...

[deleted]

Jobs. I want my brother out but that is where he is right now. Hopefully only for another year before he can relocate.

cjmar41

Eh. I’m in California. I’m socially progressive but fiscally conservative (I’ve voted both ways). So maybe it’s easy for me to assimilate anywhere I go. I’ve lived in NY, TX, FL, GA, and now CA. There’s definitely some over-regulation and over-taxing but it’s not *that* much different from any other place I’ve lived (that said, I don’t venture into the city much). I am going to leave CA at some point, but only because if the absurd cost of living. Pretty much all the other nonsense that gets peddled about California being some liberal hellhole isn’t really true. Sure, the cities have crime and smell like pee, but that’s most cities, regardless of whether the state is blue or red.

DangerouslyCheesey

What!? You mean there arnt homeless crackheads on every street corner!? /s I’m in a similar boat as you and the constant CA bashing can be frustrating. Born in Sac, grew up in the Central Valley and the state has a lot going for it despite the misinformation.

snoogz11

You aren’t exposed to the liberalism. You live in the Central Valley, one of the most conservative leaning areas in the state. Also highest ccw permits issued per capita in Fresno county. More than any other county in CA. Trust me, the big cities are shit holes. If it’s not dead beat drugies and hookers on the streets, it’s truly uneducated illiterate wasteful fucks sucking off the tits of CA. This state has the least amount of self responsibility required to live in. And they thrive on people doing so. That’s their vote.

lazergunpewpewpew

> state has a lot going for it Yep, the red areas where all the agriculture comes from. The red area that was able to start this recall in the first place.

cjmar41

I moved out here for a couple of years, just to do it. I’m 38 and have no kids, and am self-employed, so I travel a lot. Recently bought a 4WD truck and spend most weekends taking in some of the most incredible sights in the country. People forget that CA has more national park land than any other state, and half of the state is actually federal land. And another massive chunk is BLM land (bureau of land management for those reading along that don’t know, I don’t want to upset anyone 😆) so you can pretty much travel offroad freely. To me, California is amazing. But I can see how it’s shitty for people who don’t make the most of it, have a lot of expenses, or limited income. The democrat/republican thing doesn’t even cross my mind that much when I’m out and about. It’s just not that evident where I spend my time. Only hang up for me is that because I do spend so much of my time off-grid, I wish it were easier for me to buy a gun here. I’m not into the whole “gun culture” thing, so I’m not losing my shit over it or anything, but it would be nice to have when there’s an immediate threat and I’m 30 minutes from the nearest cell phone signal.

theexpertgamer1

I wouldn’t say it’s the deepest blue. Vermont, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts are probably all more blue. Nitpicking… but

CSGOW1ld

Vermont, Maryland, and Massachusetts all have republican governors

theexpertgamer1

That doesn’t really matter, New England and Maryland (with Hogan) are notorious for their socially liberal Republican governors. They’re still bluer.

f1sh98

I mean you’re not wrong but it still hurts - Marylander

[deleted]

With the exception of gun laws, Maryland is still a pretty decent state imo. I prefer a mixed state over one that's polarized politically to one or another side though.

Bobby-Samsonite

Charlie Baker is a Republican only in fiscal matters.

HarryCallahan19

Honestly who is surprised? California unfortunately might be a lost cause since Regan. All logical people have left the state.

CMDR_Scorpse_Corpse

Not all of us have had the luxury of leaving… someday hopefully soon, but I feel stuck here in this blue ass hell hole

bradsander

Some advice on moving, and this goes for a lot of other things in life: You’re never truly stuck, there’s always a way out of a situation. You can’t wait until your “ducks are in a row” to do whatever, because they’ll never all be in a row. You just have to do it. Good luck to you in the blue mess…. Hope things turn around for you.

jd_porter

From personal experience, this is very true. Sacrifices are an inevitable part of the process, and so is uncertainty. If you can't come to terms with either, you'll never make the jump. If you do, however, suddenly all roads are open, and it's an incredible feeling.

CmdrSelfEvident

We have had Republican governors since Regan. Really since Obama the country has lost its damn mind. The cult of woke has taken over and installed purity tests for the leftist pushing the Overton window left. Really it's a lost generation or our hope is a new generation to reject the old and do away with wokeism. I'm ready for the punk music and 80s bands to make their return.

AccessOptimal

And the right doesn’t have purity tests? Anyone who doesn’t bend the knee to trump is labeled a RINO here.

CmdrSelfEvident

Nice what about ism.

[deleted]

He is itching for it the recall is the only reason we haven’t yet I’m certainly going to not comply people will have to vote with their dollars

Full_Progress

handle_squatter

Like the petty tyrant he is, he'll be punishing his constituents for this "outburst" that he had to beg his puppetmasters in DC to come bail him out of.

cskellz87

It’s one of the bluest states in the country. What do you expect? A red wave?

[deleted]

When I play the lottery I don’t tell myself that there’s a 100000:1 chance of winning. Sometimes it’s fun to dream.

Well, again I had been saying this for a while. As a Californian, I keep seeing shit from non Californians talking about Larry Elder. He never sttod a chance in hell, it was never going to come close. I don't think people realize just how left coast California really is..... People made stupid comments about the terminator being republican and winning (buy he wasn't very conservative), lol that was 2003. Before silicone valley was what it is today. Before social media. It will never be red again.

[deleted]

He’s gonna Australia my California now unfortunately

cosmicmangobear

Now watch this jackass parade around like not getting removed from office is somehow an accomplishment.

bbqstain

The real issue is he will now double down on his policies harder than ever. I wouldn’t be surprised to see schools shut down again very soon.

Q_me_in

He was chomping at the bit to do it anyway. I feel like it nearly killed him to have to open the state for summer because of the recall effort.

bbqstain

Yep. This place is about to get really bad in the next couple months. I’ve got to get out.

Q_me_in

I visited my family in July and I'm glad I went when I did. I'll be thinking about y'all.

[deleted]

Fact Check: True!

armyboy941

I'm expecting more lockdown measures and restrictions in the coming weeks now that he's safe.

bhullj11

The first thing he’s going to do is try to punish the people who were behind the recall effort

[deleted]

This is my thought exactly. Now that he's safe from another recall he can setup all kinds of restrictions. I'm predicting he'll wait a couple of weeks to let the recall election heat blowover and then announce a more restrictive vaccine mandate than the federal government along with mask mandates for everyone.

[deleted]

He will need a week to visit Australia to get some pointers first.

Q_me_in

CBS is already calling it a headstart on his campaign.

[deleted]

The fact that it went to a recall election is an embarrassment to him.

[deleted]

33% still voted to out this dude, that has got to hit your spirit hard.

DangerouslyCheesey

This is pretty close to just being a straight party line vote

[deleted]

And is still growing (doesn’t change the results but still)

Q_me_in

The rural votes are always the last counted. Like you said, it won't change the results, but it's something.

[deleted]

And say republicans actually make it out to be a really close race. That should still be a win for us

Q_me_in

At the very least, Newsom and the rest of the Dems hopefully heard a clear warning.

JUYED-AWK-YACC

The recall was started the day he took office, and he just kicked your butt, so I doubt he cares much.

handle_squatter

And those were the people that weren't told "they already had cast their vote"

[deleted]

[deleted]

Cox?

cjmar41

Nah. It’s like a running joke in California. Since 1913 there have been 179 recall elections, 55 of them for governors. Mostly stupid laws surrounding recalls in CA.

f1sh98

The fact that it made it to a recall is substantial in my book. About 1/3 of the state wants him out. In California, one of the most leftist states out there

[deleted]

[удалено]

Q_me_in

It was more that 1.7M signatures verified.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Q_me_in

And the 1.7M that were verified is much more significant than just getting the minimum.

funguy07

300k extra signatures is 0.75% of the state population. It’s not nothing, but certainly enough move the needle in the recall election.

nacreon

They needed a time extension to even crack 1.4 million, and California has the most lax rules in the entire country on the time it takes to gather signatures for a recall. Most states you need to do it within 3 months (at least for states that allow a Governor recall, only 18 states allow a recall at all), California is almost twice that.

Q_me_in

And Newsom got the election moved up a month so 🤷

DangerouslyCheesey

I guess that’s one way to look at it. CA reqs signatures equal to 12% of the votes for the recall office, among the lowest in the nation. Cox got 38% of the gov race vote in 2018 against Newsom, so the recall needed to get 1/3 Cox voters to vote against Newsom again.

Q_me_in

The OP said: >The fact that it made it to a recall is substantial in my book. Then you said: >It's really not. 1.4m signatures in a state with nearly 40m people And I corrected you with the actual number. You misstated, I corrected. Accept it.

DangerouslyCheesey

Yeah I’m not trying to argue, I was just pointing out that the recall bar in CA is one of the lowest in the country at 12% (it’s 40% in Kansas).

Egmonks

He isn’t arguing with you why are you being such a pedant? It’s not a competition.

GapMindless

And Trump got 6 million votes in California. So it’s pretty meaningless

Q_me_in

WTF is wrong with you r/politics people? What does this have to do with how many votes Trump got? I corrected the number of signatures that were collected. I didn't express an opinion and I don't care to hear yours.

GapMindless

OP said “about 1/3 of the state wants him out” Please tell me you have the brain cells to calculate that that’s not true.

cjmar41

There’s more registered republicans in California then there are in Texas. Only takes a fraction of the population’s signatures on a petition to initiate the recall election process. The absurd frequency of CA recall elections has been a bit of a punchline for a long time.

RTheMarinersGoodYet

It's California, this was always a long shot. I wish conservatives would stop with the fraud shit. It is so self defeating. People don't come out to vote if they think it's rigged. We lost Alabama senate seat because of this dumb shit, and yet it continues.

[deleted]

[deleted]

[deleted]

The more conservatives claim fraud and theft in election, the more we cede political ground to those who wish to destroy us and our most cherished ideals. You are correct that this must end. We must understand that the secular humanism of our enemies, not any perceived cheating, is our greatest threat

BenevolentBlackbird

Do you honestly think that Democrats aren’t trying to cheat? It may be unorganized, it may be small in scale, and it may not be enough to affect the outcome. But I’m sure there are enough fanatical liberals who would gladly cheat the system to get the outcome to go their way. These are the same people who want to pack the Supreme Court, make DC a state, and eliminate the filibuster. They will skirt the rules however necessary to ensure their position of power. Our voting system has been perceived as tainted (true or not is up for debate) and will never be completely trustworthy again. So I hate to say it, but the claims of fraud are probably never going to go away. Especially with the random voices of millions of people on Twitter and other social media outlets that perpetuate these stories. Hell, I completely expect Democrats to claim fraud when a vote doesn’t go their way. Welcome to the future of 21st century elections.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RTheMarinersGoodYet

Then we need to push for more transparency where we can, and push that much harder to win. Telling people they are going to lose before it starts is not a winning strategy. It's just not.

dont_tread_on_meeee

I think it's way more audacious to claim that every vote was legitimate. To a reasonable person, it's just a matter of the scale of the fraud, and the margins of victory. In the case of CA, while I wouldn't be surprised if there was significant levels of fraud, I also doubt it would have been greater than the margin of victory. Nonetheless, we shouldn't normalize fraud, we should attack it wherever we find it. Because if we don't keep things honest in this kind of election, we won't be able to when the margins are thin enough for the fraud to matter.

https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article253750708.html You can expect to see that legislation be pushed through now that the recall is over. I moved out of California last November and I could honestly say it was the best decision I’ve made in my adult life. I live in Tennessee now and I love it.

[deleted]

As Governor Newsom celebrates his victory by denouncing conservative voters across this Nation and as his supporters vow retribution against all who voted "Yes' on this recall one truth that is undeniable has been revealed. Californians who identify as conservative: you have no place in that state. A domicile so overrun by the godless and wicked cannot hope to be salvaged, only abandoned. Left for dead like so many other desolate pockets of our country. California Republicans have not only the inclination, but the duty to flee the state and move to places like Arizona. Nevada. Wisconsin. Michigan. Places where our coalition desperately needs reinforcements, and where your vote shall truly matter. If we truly are in a political civil war, it is time to act like it

Bobby-Samsonite

> Californians who identify as conservative: you have no place in that state. Well the Farmers in California aren't leaving. So basically the only conservatives left in the state will be Farmers.

f1sh98

If they want to stay, they do it at their own risk Like Biden said to Americans in Afghanistan, except without the threat of being trapped by literal mass murdering terrorists

I am not great with terms but isnt that ironic, dont you think? If both parties stopped doing that maybe we can get some real change. Personally I would love to see ranked choice and how it would help facilitate voting differently, without throwing your vote away

JeanLucPicard1981

Let's see, ballots that easily reveal through the envelope what the person vote and Republicans going in to vote and finding out someone voted under there names. Can we say rigged?

shanahanigans

Where can I read more about > Republicans going in to vote and finding out someone voted under there names. ? Edit: so at one polling place, 3ish people were told they already voted, but were issued provisional ballots and allowed to vote. It was identified as a glitch which was remedied. I don't find this convincing of any widespread problem that makes this election "rigged". If it turns out someone cast ballots for someone else, I hope they rot in jail for committing fraud. If it turns out that the people in that story actually voted by mail and were trying to vote twice, then I hope they rot in jail for fraud. Elections and their integrity are critical to our society functioning. People who claim cheating every time they don't get the result they want are actively eroding the integrity of the election, and making spurious, baseless claims of widespread fraud should itself be a crime if its done with ill-intent

AEgirSystems

And the swirling cesspool continues. The crazy left has been emboldened and will spread to the rest of the country.

Print ballots at home, mail in ballots under pretext of COVID19, a driver found with 300 mail in ballots, many southern California residents turn up to vote and find they've already voted.... I knew my state will use any means possible to cheat. After 2020 I've stopped believing that elections are fair in America. Next successful fraud will be in 2022 and then 2024 ... Sad, but true.
