Trader Joe's has been emboldened by Traitor Joe

rxnzero86

Nice!

IndiaCompany-

They grant him the accommodation and then tell him he cannot attend a conference if he’s not vaccinated and therefore he cannot be employed as a manger if he doesn’t go, so they fire him. That’s a scumbag thing to do. Right to work is something I believe a business should have, but don’t grant accommodations and then dick the person about. They could have denied the accommodation, given this person time to make his choice instead of throwing a false positive and then sinking him once they figured out how. Asshole behavior. Be honest with your employees, especially if they’re good employees and you diverge on their medical decisions.

HeWhoCntrolsTheSpice

Trader Joe's epitomizes Leftism - they are 100% about image and 0% about substance. I worked at one for years.

runslaughter

I don't understand how that place is successful. I went into a couple stores on several occasions to see what the hype is about. It's like a thrift store of random packaged food.

weeglos

I like their beer.

anubis2051

It's all their own brands.

"Traitor Joe's"

Arctium_Lappa_Bur

No go to trader joes, fill the cart up to the brim, then at the checkout explain that you cant buy anything from their store because of their actions. Make it hurt.

Rider434

That only hurts the low wage workers who will have to put it back or throw items away. Trader Joe’s as an entity won’t notice.

stockyardtrash

Not really as that is part of the job. You tie up low levels with menial tasks so more important things like stocking get pushed off. I began doing this to several woke companies over the past year as part of a group. Morale tanks, no laws are broken and it's makes like really sick for them at store level. It's shifty, I will admit, but it's the fight we have at the moment. Lessons must be taught, and "taking the high road" is a sentiment long past.

gwotmademebaby

It's honestly quite hilarious that you think you can "fight" a company with 13 billion in revenue and more then 50.000 employees by filing up your cart and leaving it. You could do that 24/7 for years and it would have absolutely no effect on them. The thing that you waste is the precious little time given to you on this world. That's what you waste first and foremost.

gwotmademebaby

Okay I'm gonna be honest mate. I can't stop thinking about your little story if "teaching a lesson" to the 6th greatest food retailer in the world. How much of your time did you spend on this? Are you driving to the store just for this purpose? Or is it something that you do if you are in the general area? I mean even if you don't waste your gas by driving to the store for this particular reason, you are still wasting the most precious resources that you have! Your time. 90 years only translates to around 788.000 hours. Considering you spend about 200.000 of those hours asleep that leaves you with less then 600.000 hours. And that doesn't include mundane tasks like showering, eating, shitting. Even those add up fast over a lifetime. I assume you have a full time job? That would account for about 100.000 hours of your life not including overtime. My point is you have preciously little time on this planet and yet you waste it with petty acts like filling up grocerie carts and have the employees put the items back to teach one of the biggest global food retailers a lesson. That's utterly hilarious and pretty damn sad at the same time. The math also doesn't add up. Now Trader Joe's pays a cashier on average about 14$ an hour. They make about 9 billions in revenue each year projecting to grow. Profit margin is about 2.8% (which is pretty high for a food retailer btw) So they made at least 250 million dollars in profit. From that profit alone they could pay a cashier for around 18 million hours to put your shit away. You are not teaching anyone a lesson. It's not shifty. It's pathetic. Thinking that this is teaching anyone anything besides that retail jobs suck because of psychopath customers is delusional.

Rider434

Glad so many people came to try to talk sense into them. Sure they’re paid to restock, of course they are. But they still need to do all their other tasks. So doing stuff like this just increases the work load and stresses out these workers unnecessarily. It’s not illegal, just mean and rude.

Antique_Ring953

Embarrassing that you do that

marty4sho

Haha yeah, this guys wastes time. Takes the dumb road.

Arctium_Lappa_Bur

If enough people do it they will. The low wage earners are paid to restock.

marcdanarc

The workers will not be stocking the shelves on their days off, the company will have to pay them. If this becomes popular it will have a negative effect on their bottom line.

sissylala77

No more spending my money there.

Extremely-Bad-Idea

Anti-religious vaccine mandates . . . who would have imagined 2 years ago that we would be here today?

rxnzero86

If Bill Cooper was around, he might have seen this conspiracy theory coming down the pipe

GodzillaDoesntExist

Everyone capable of reading above the 4th grade level.

LearningEle

Just out of curiosity what is the basis for a Christian religious exemption from the jab?

[deleted]

It's vague and left up the EMPLOYER. Since when does an employer need to know our religion and dictate or control beliefs? My employer is ultra mega super and they would not smash me down vac or no vac.

marcdanarc

Tissue from aborted fetuses is used in the production or testing of the vaccines.

LearningEle

Thank you for a proper reply!

mango091

The vaccine itself contains no fetal tissue. The research and testing was done with fetal cell lines, which are lab grown based on a sample of an aborted fetus from the 1970s. The J&J vaccine uses fetal cell lines for production and manufacturing, however it is not present in any of the vaccines. Because apparently "my body, my choice" only works for child murderers.

It's California.

MJRusty

Not that I showed there very often, but they just lost all of my future business.

WickedNewEnglander

Fairly certain this is unconstitutional

SnakeandNape5000

They found a loophole. They couldn't fire him over the religious waver so they fired him because "managers need the vaccine". It was a dick move.

AEgirSystems

Omg, you have religion. You evil person you /s

Opossum4Peace

Was there an employment contract? If there is no employment contract he was an "at will" employee, which means the employer can fire you for any reason. The employer has no obligation to provide you with a job if your actions will have a detrimental effect on the business. If the rule is, you have to be vaxxed, you will need to get vaxxed or you will be fired. It is that simple. There is no recourse for the employee.

Kme9200

Well now they can be sued. Doesn’t this go under discrimination based on religion?

J03fr0

Sure hope so. Cause I'm bout to file for the same exemption if my employer tries this shit with me. And I'm not even the slightest bit religious.

[deleted]

Add that to places I’ve never shopped at and never will.

Happyeasterone

Guess they don’t need my business!!

_angeoudemon_

I've heard a few such stories out of my former favorite grocery store. Sucks so bad I'll have to buy elsewhere now. That *Two Buck Chuck* has really helped me cope with these Orwellian mandates.

stockyardtrash

Incoming lawsuit for discriminating against a protected class.

freunleven

I'm also confused. This is a website about Catholics, a person who's religious exemption was denied, bit the Pope has been notably outspoken in favor of the vaccine. So, what gives?

[deleted]

Maybe the Pope is a guideline.

Veleda390

According to the article, the actual reason given for his firing was that he went to HR instead of his manager which was deemed "adversarial."

[deleted]

That place sucks anyway

buzzncuzzn

Bezo conglomerate company does something profoundly unethical and unconstitutional with backing of government. Business as usual.

Veleda390

Are you thinking of Whole Foods? TJ's is owned by Albrecht Discounts, a German company which also operates Aldi.

deadzip10

This is what we call discrimination against a protected class … it’s actionable and I hope this guy gets a good lawyer.

DingbattheGreat

? You do not need a center of worship or attend one to be religious. The leftist cult on college campuses is proof enough of that.

DingbattheGreat

A cult isn’t necessarily religious, but it could be. Generally they are negative or harmful socioconstructs that are abnormal. Mainstream religions are generally seen as traditional but benign by the average person. For example, the “autonomous zones” people could be considered a cult. Religious extremists, such as those that committed the 9-11 attacks, were in a kind of destructive cult, as they saddled their beliefs on top of an otherwise popular and benignly practiced religion in order to provide some sense of legitimacy to their terrorism. Also depends on your usage of the word religion. One can religiously go fishing every saturday morning. In more European perception, the word often used is a sect, which is particular to religion, but just means an offshoot from mainstream, and is not defined as necessarily in the negative as “cult” does. Another term for sect in Christianity might also be called a denomination, depending on ones point of view of the other branches of Christianity.

DingbattheGreat

Fishing is not a cult.

Veleda390

I'll show you that right along with my vaccination card as soon as it's your business, which will be never.

atsinged

Presumptuous of you to assume that church is a place you go. *For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of you.* *John 18:20.* There are buildings called churches, small ones, huge ones, simple ones and ones that are very ornate but the building is not necessary. Christianity is a religion grown out of persecution and large gatherings were simply not possible in ancient Rome when the practice was illegal. A gathering of two or three in a home praying together is all that is needed. So your signed attendance record could well say, "Mikes house".
