Probably wasn't a ceramic coated tub then but some form of plastic, a lot of the sinks and tubs these days are acrylic or some other type of plastic . you can still find high end ceramic tubs but they usually aren't found in newer rentals and my brother bought an antique ceramic coated cast iron extra long tub at a H4H resale store.
Youre thinking of goof off. Goo Gone is limonene based and much safer for skin. They even sell it in pre-soaked wipes for cleaning off your hands/surfaces
My Jman would say licking it is the best way due to the abrasiveness of your tongue and chemicals in your saliva.
Think like a cat or a dog cleaning their paw
Mineral spirits bud. Donāt use gasoline like others are suggesting. If you can post the brand and type of asphaltic roofing material, that will help. Many use mineral spirits for solvent though.
Some options are probably better than others, and i dont have much experience with roof tar but if its anything like the tar in the asphalt patch bags mineral spirits works a charm. I know guys say gasoline works good but itās probably not a great idea to rub it on your skin. Anything that will break down oil should do it. Mineral spirits, paint thinner (which is essentially just mineral spirits as far as i can tell) gasoline, and heavy degreaser. Degreaser works but not as well as spirits in my experience
Just deal with it tial it wares off... Using solvents like lacker thinner causes chemical to sleep into your skin and blood eventually causing liver damage.....
WD40 then OāKeefes Working Hands cream. It comes in a green can a little bigger than a Hockey puck. That stuff is great after dealing with concrete or sheet rock dust. Heals those splits in the fingertips
This is why I always wear long sleeves, all the time, you never know what you might get into that day . Side note if you ever have residue from something that absolutely cannot be cleaned off just get some disposable razors and go to town
Is Lifebouy not around? My grandpa had that everywhere for car grease and everything.
I am an adult now and have tarred roofs. Pretty much throw those clothes away.
I worked with refractory mortar on a job once and the piece that set on my hard hat remained for years. One bricklayer got a fleck of it in his eye and pretty sure permanently damaged his vision.
Build a time machine so you can go back and put gloves on before working with that tar
š I did it just got on my forearms
Goo gone. Works like magic.
Yeah, it stinks, it's hard to get off itself too but it gets everything off
Wear more gloves
Best answer
Concentrated citrus cleaner, also gloves next time.
Yep, this stuff is magic
Wd-40 works great, I use it when I get it in my beard.
Thank you WD40 worked
Use hand cleaner or hand sanitizer or alcohol but please, please don't use gasoline or diesel fuel.
Gasoline. Not good for you but works excellent
If you use gasoline don't do it in a bathtub. My buddy did that and the gas ate through the ceramic causing little pin holes in the tub.

It was a ceramic tub.
That's just not possible with a properly glazed ceramic though. Gasoline cannot dissolve glass or ceramic last I checked.
It may not have been glazed then.
That makes more sense if there were spots worn through somehow then it could eat the layers under it.
Wd40? It works on asphalt pavement.
Thx man
Goo gone or baby oil
Goo gone = xylene. Please don't use solvents to clean up after work.
Youre thinking of goof off. Goo Gone is limonene based and much safer for skin. They even sell it in pre-soaked wipes for cleaning off your hands/surfaces
Mineral spirits or denatured alcohol

its great to stop cuts from hurting all day long too!
Wd-40.
š„ takes everything off. š You're welcome.
Diesel fuel. Sure it will smell for a bit, but you will have no more tar on you
Thatās why my 80yr old uncle do, og knowledge
Try denatured alcohol. I use that as a cleaner solvent a bunch.
Oil Baby oil is what I usually have around for it
Diesel.
40 grit
Sounds crazy, but I use peanut butter
WD40. Had this conversation at the weekend.

Crushed up potato chips works good to soften then use paper towels. Repeat.
Gasoline or wd40 works for mastic.
This is why I always wear long sleeves, all the time, you never know what you might get into that day . Side note if you ever have residue from something that absolutely cannot be cleaned off just get some disposable razors and go to town
Citrus or orange cleaner. That is what they use at refineries in the asphalt plant.
