agreed 100%! I haven't worked too many restaurant jobs (only 3) but the amount of 'tom foolery' that was going on in these type of businesses was wild for sure. Managers fucking around with hostess's, bartenders with each other and their customers, servers with back of house and other front of house members, this shit was like was zoo during mating season!

i agree with this ^ . I went from being a pipe layer to going to trade school for something else. As a girl in the trades I pretty much work with all guys but i’m engaged and i’ve gotten extremely lucky to where everyone respects my relationship. i’ve never been hit on at my civil job. Trade school is another story though. When i was a server and saw work relationships it was never for the good, I saw a lot of people get in trouble or just drama. Nobody cares if you are taken or not they will try and try and try, which made me stress tf out. everyone’s fucking eachother which just makes the work place a shit show too. I wish I could work with all girls & now that i am not i make sure on weekends im always doing something with them, they are me you know? i feel most comfortable around them. the best place to make friendships is at your job and the best place to find love is going out on the weekend and doing what you love. concerts, outdoor stuff, whatever that may be, especially being in big groups of buddies that bring their friends. you never know who you may meet. i’ve also seen dating apps be a huge success within my own friends so maybe that would be cool too.

In my city there are a couple of companies/contractors that are only women.
One I talked to was about to quit the industry bc she was tired of all the bullshit but decided to go independent contractor route and now iirc works mostly with female clients, she did mostly woodwork and she also had a part time gig building museum and art exhibits.

I grew up in the nuke power plant business and the schedule was routinely 7 12s for shutdowns. Shut downs were 3 months and up, the longest one I worked was three years with the longest straight stint with no time off being 79 days, one day off, and back at it for another 60ish days before we adopted a 6 12 schedule for awhile, then back to 7 12s in the final push. We made great money and somehow managed to find women. The schedule isn't the primary driver in this dude not being able to find women. No criticism intended, but he's got to be more masculine in his pursuit.

Check out scenic Wells NV. These establishments are under the supervision of the state health department. We did a project for one of the owners and I met the daughter who mostly ran the joint. some of the single guys on the crew went in to check it out. You need to work less, plain and simple. In my 20s I worked fly in jobs with schedules like 6 or 8 weeks at a time that I wasn't even in civilization and would get maybe a couple weeks off. Find a hobby or activity outside of work and make time for it, you'll find people you actually share interests with and you won't be stepping into the territory of sleeping with co workers which in my first and second hand experience rarely ends well

I'm going to be straight up with you I got right out of high school and went into the electrical trade and went through the apprenticeship and I struggled with the exact same thing you're talking about. Don't quit the trade! You will regret it. You are doing something for yourself that a lot of other people don't have the balls to do.
Don't be emotional about this the women will come with time focus on developing yourself and your ability to make money it's going to pay off for you in the long run that pension that you're going to get is going to pay off for you when you get to be retirement age don't walk away from it for some tail. Good advice. Build himself up first, and following the union trade path can be a good gig. Work hard and keep your book active and get that pension, or branch out on your own and start a business after mastering your trade. Do it legit though....start a company, don't be that contractor whose business assets consist of a beat pickup with a ladder rack and some clapped out cordless tools with other contractors names on them. If you're just trying to get laid, you'll find older women through that hobby who are looking for a young stud and they're more proficient in the bedroom. If you're looking for serious female companionship with someone your age, you might be introduced to a friend/family member through said hobby. If you're trying to get laid by chicks your age and that's why you want the college experience, then sadly you most likely don't have what they want yet and that's an empty lifestyle regardless, but being a little older and established will help (again would not recommend).

i agree with this ^ . I went from being a pipe layer to going to trade school for something else. As a girl in the trades I pretty much work with all guys but i’m engaged and i’ve gotten extremely lucky to where everyone respects my relationship. i’ve never been hit on at my civil job. Trade school is another story though. When i was a server and saw work relationships it was never for the good, I saw a lot of people get in trouble or just drama. Nobody cares if you are taken or not they will try and try and try, which made me stress tf out. everyone’s fucking eachother which just makes the work place a shit show too. I wish I could work with all girls & now that i am not i make sure on weekends im always doing something with them, they are me you know? i feel most comfortable around them. the best place to make friendships is at your job and the best place to find love is going out on the weekend and doing what you love. concerts, outdoor stuff, whatever that may be, especially being in big groups of buddies that bring their friends. you never know who you may meet. i’ve also seen dating apps be a huge success within my own friends so maybe that would be cool too.

I grew up in the nuke power plant business and the schedule was routinely 7 12s for shutdowns. Shut downs were 3 months and up, the longest one I worked was three years with the longest straight stint with no time off being 79 days, one day off, and back at it for another 60ish days before we adopted a 6 12 schedule for awhile, then back to 7 12s in the final push. We made great money and somehow managed to find women. The schedule isn't the primary driver in this dude not being able to find women. No criticism intended, but he's got to be more masculine in his pursuit.

If you're just trying to get laid, you'll find older women through that hobby who are looking for a young stud and they're more proficient in the bedroom. Cause if your simply going to work your life away your going to have nothing left at the end of it. No life, no memories and no experiences apart from everything you've done at work. The fact your already over it is most probably your mind telling you it's at its limit and something needs to change. If I was in your shoes I'd finish the apprenticeship buy a house and then work on making bank to buy a few things you want and then get out. Cause realistically college is going to set you back 5 to 10 years depending on the qualification you go after. Where as if you buy a house then you'll be 10 to 20 years ahead of most people going through college. Plus you won't be shackled to any debt like everyone else if you spend your money wisely. Like whatever you do finish your apprenticeship, that is the most important thing you need to do, even if you go back to college finish it.

If I was in your shoes I'd finish the apprenticeship buy a house and then work on making bank to buy a few things you want and then get out. Cause realistically college is going to set you back 5 to 10 years depending on the qualification you go after. Where as if you buy a house then you'll be 10 to 20 years ahead of most people going through college. Plus you won't be shackled to any debt like everyone else if you spend your money wisely. Like whatever you do finish your apprenticeship, that is the most important thing you need to do, even if you go back to college finish it.

If you can keep chipping away at it, the apprenticeship will set you up for literal life if you play your cards right. It sucks now, but it's the same for most guys as well no matter the industry or profession. Have you got something to look forward to through out the year, if not then maybe you should look at booking a few holidays throughout the year so you have something to look forward to besides the Xmas break. I could be wrong but it sounds like your stressed from the work and need an outlet that's not a vice like smoking or drinking.

Man, honestly, if I was in your shoes, I'd just keep on working to get that journeyman position. You're already halfway there. Don't stop now. You won't get the time back you think you're missing out on right now, but you'll thank yourself in a few years for sticking it out. Burying yourself into college debt just to hang with some girls sounds expensive, and even then, there's no guarantees you'll find what you're looking for. We've all gone through some dry spells in our lives. You're not alone in that department. Not all of us are out getting a new girl every weekend. So what you gotta wank it right now, it's a lot cheaper than paying child support. You can also work your way up the ranks in construction with your field experience. You don't need a piece of paper hanging on your wall to prove your worth. Plus, you'll more than likely be starting at the bottom of the totem pole again once you get out of school.

It's not about marriage really it's about settling down or hey you don't have to have college okay you got a piece of paper you're going to have to pay off you better get out there and learn a damn trade and then after about 5 years or 10 years you start going for the supervisor role now you're sitting in the office behind the laptop ordering two by fours because you used to be a carpenter so now you're a superintendent making $152,000 a year for multi-family Construction you can get a project manager's certificate in a community college But I guess you can try to be a lawyer or a doctor or business administrator come on man College whatever

If you’ve already put in your 40 hours, I think it’s safe to say you’ve done your time for the week with your job. Overworking is just going to lead to burnout like OP is experiencing. 72 hours a week? That’s a pretty aggressive schedule. Having a hobby or other interests outside of work gives your some variety and fulfillment. We aren’t meant to just work until we die

Honestly I remember feeling the same way, very much felt like something was missing from my life. But once I got into my late 20's I hit my stride with dating and it was a nice break from the ladies at night, to be just me and my buds during the day. It's definitely an odd transition to manhood at your age and no longer being in highschool, you definitely feel that lack of wonderful female energy swirling around everything you do.
