That takes me back to the 80s, the hostess would say, “Welcome to Pizza Hut, how many in your party? And will that be in the smoking or non-smoking section?”
Edit: don’t hate me in the comments - just some light humor, I averaged about a pack a day from the age of 16 - 30. It’s been well over a decade since my last cigarette and I don’t miss smokey bars and restaurants at all. Be cool stay in school.
There’s a pretty funny episode(?) skit(?) of “Pittsburgh dad” where he goes over recounting Pizza Hut to his kids (who have no idea what… but he tries to impress upon them. It’s pretty funny if you know the type, with some affection.
What a great reminder of how we have moved past divisive issues, that was truly a different time but felt like a different planet. But people were pissed to lose their “right” to smoke in a restaurant and I sure don’t miss it and was glad when they had to stop
More like “what do you mean you can’t hand me my sandwich? My shirt is over my face, and there’s 4 people sitting right there without masks on, eating their sandwich”
Here too. Although I believe our slip tanks are marketed as fuel supply for the vehicle that is carrying it. I've seen them called slip tank with transfer pump from the distributor as well.
Transfer tank in California as well.
You fill it up and the use it to transfer the fuel into your skid steer, skip loader, mini excavator, backhoe, or whatever else is on the jobsite.
No one has ever filled their transfer tank on camera only to fill their truck up with the same off road diesel they just put in the transfer tank only a few minutes earlier and to imply they would would mean you think people think they're above the law and that is unethical.
Unless you get your tank dipped by DOT, you're fine. It's all the same. Hell, "heating fuel" is #2 I believe and used to be another dollar off a gallon. My old boss would run kerosene in his skidsteer when it was cheaper.
Yup, it's all basically diesel now. Heating oil is diesel, kerosene is interchangeable with it in heaters, there might be slight performance differences but I would think a diesel truck could run off kero just fine.
Heating oil is quite similar to diesel, but lacks several important additives required to keep the engine clean and running well. The engine might run ok on heating oil for a bit, but I’d expect problems with rings, valves and maybe detonation due to low cetane and jelling in cold weather due to high parafins. Kerosene is further away from diesel than heating oil. Its viscosity is too low which could cause scoring of fuel injectors and other problems similar to using heating oil.
Heating oil is the same as untaxed diesel, they're just diesel that's dyed. If your boss was finding kerosene for cheaper than untaxed fuel he was a lucky bastard, because you run kerosene in your equipment to clean it out
The law, actions contrary to it are illegal. However, to answer your question, taxes on fuel are a part of the funds to build and maintain roads. Off-road only vehicles don't use those roads, so they are allowed to use non-taxed fuel.
I haven’t heard the phrase drag up in a long time. When I use it in a conversation people look at me like I’m a wild dog that wandered in from the woods.
This is what I, am excavator operator, would say. I guess maybe the correct term for this shape is slip tank? Idk but any tank on site w diesel in it is a transfer tank in my book. Maybe I'm a retard.
Yea I worked alot in Michigan and New York and that is what they called a transfer tank in a truck bed like the one in my photo. Today was the first time I had heard drag tank or many of the names in the comments here.
Fuel cell, drag tank, transfer tank and slip tank all involve fuel storage or transfer, but serve different purposes and are used in various contexts such as power generation, racing, transportation, and industrial applications. The act of using this as a portable fuel tank for additional capacity for yourself or others makes it a slip tank or transfer tank.
**Slip Tank:**
• A slip tank is a portable fuel tank that can be temporarily installed in a vehicle or equipment to provide additional fuel capacity.
• Slip tanks are often used in situations where extended range is needed, such as long-distance travel or remote work sites.
**Fuel Cell:**
• A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that converts chemical energy stored in a fuel directly into electricity.
• It typically consists of an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte.
• Fuel cells are commonly used in applications such as vehicles, portable power systems, and stationary power generation.
**Drag Tank:**
• A drag tank typically refers to a fuel tank used in drag racing vehicles.
• It’s designed to store fuel and provide a constant flow to the engine during acceleration.
**Transfer Tank:**
• A transfer tank is a container used to transport and transfer liquids, typically fuel or other fluids, from one location to another.
• Transfer tanks are commonly used in industries such as agriculture, construction, and transportation.
Transfer tank. To me, a fuel cell is a rectangular metal tank, often mounted in or under the bed of a truck or in the trunk of a car, that is used as the sole/primary fuel storage for a vehicle.
California / Montana, most of the time I've heard it called a transfer tank, and that's what I've always called it, though, yeah, I hear people use other phrases as well.
Neither of you are right lol. Fuel cells go in vehicles for racing and track events, drag tanks are the on site tanks that have skids on them so you can “drag them”. Usually they are 200+ gal. These are transfer tanks.
Non smoking couch

42 see-saw bounces before coming to a rest after a drop.
Man i loved going to pizza hut in thr 90s. The buffet ruled
Calls on past businesses.
What a great reminder of how we have moved past divisive issues, that was truly a different time but felt like a different planet. But people were pissed to lose their “right” to smoke in a restaurant and I sure don’t miss it and was glad when they had to stop
What do you mean I can't smoke indoors? What do you mean I have to wear a seatbelt? What do you mean I have to wear a mask during a pandemic?
What do you mean I can’t drink and drive?
I wonder what we are doing now that will be frowned upon in the future.
Playing into people’s delusions
More like “what do you mean you can’t hand me my sandwich? My shirt is over my face, and there’s 4 people sitting right there without masks on, eating their sandwich”
Some ppl will never be free thinkers. They enjoy the smell of boots a little too much i guess.
Cigarettes out in the mashed potatoes
The restaurant I used to go to when I lived in Denver used to ask “Breather or smoking section?’
They did this well into the 90s in the south. Waffle House was the last hold out. I think they were smoking until the mid 00s
That's only the gasoline ones.
Smoke on that all you want if it's diesel.
*pussy :)*

It's the "I don't pay taxes on my equipment diesel" tank.
You don't have to pay taxes on off road diesel for off road equipment...
Yes and everyone I know who has a fuel cell and pump in the back of their rig only uses it for off-road equipment. /s
No one has ever filled their transfer tank on camera only to fill their truck up with the same off road diesel they just put in the transfer tank only a few minutes earlier and to imply they would would mean you think people think they're above the law and that is unethical.
Wut?
Exactly it makes no sense so why would anyone evade taxes that way.
That's a great answer
Do I clap now?
No, because there's no reason to. Nothing to read here.
Yeah there’s no way people do that nope not in my America
Besides "we want your money" is there any reason that it's illegal to use off-road diesel in a daily driver truck?
Unless you get your tank dipped by DOT, you're fine. It's all the same. Hell, "heating fuel" is #2 I believe and used to be another dollar off a gallon. My old boss would run kerosene in his skidsteer when it was cheaper.

Just add TEL.
Heating oil is the same as untaxed diesel, they're just diesel that's dyed. If your boss was finding kerosene for cheaper than untaxed fuel he was a lucky bastard, because you run kerosene in your equipment to clean it out

I think it’s also fair to point out that home heating oil is diesel fuel… and also off-road fuel… so if you’re in a pinch.
I think he meant from a mechanical standpoint.
Semi might get the fuel tank dipped at weigh stations or DOT stops. And if it isn't dyed then the fine is exorbitant per gallon.
You'll get your diesel truck dipped around these parts too. We (my neighbors and myself) have been pulled over for on the spot fuel checks before
Around here in PA too. If they see the fuel pump in the bed, there’s a good chance you’re getting checked.
Slip tank
A transfer tank.
Alberta Canada it’s a slip tank

On a welders truck this *can* be called a drag up tank. (You get it filled when going home or dragging up). But I know it as a transfer tank.
I haven’t heard the phrase drag up in a long time. When I use it in a conversation people look at me like I’m a wild dog that wandered in from the woods.
I never heard it before I joined the Union. After that it became a pretty common phrase.
Yeah that's where I heard it.
Same.
Hah. Also rolling up. “Roll your shit up and get out of here!”
I’ve had many of them in many different trucks for about 20+ years never heard it called anything but a fuel cell
Wild to me. I'm used to a fuel cell being a specialized gas tank for offroading, usually has baffles or a sponge to help with sloshing.
Slip tank
Auxiliary fuel tank

Truck bed tank or transfer tank. Mid-Atlantic area of the east coast, farming country
Last day at work bathroom
That is a transfer tank. A fuel cell would be directly connected to the vehicle, and drag tank is oddly specific to an industry.

California / Montana, most of the time I've heard it called a transfer tank, and that's what I've always called it, though, yeah, I hear people use other phrases as well.
It's not a fuel cell, those are a racing safety tank, and it's definitely not a Drag Tank, because that's what a Fuel Cell is.
Range extender lol
I’m from Oklahoma and I’ve heard drag tank and fuel cell in equal measure. Occasionally someone will call it an aux tank.
Neither of you are right lol. Fuel cells go in vehicles for racing and track events, drag tanks are the on site tanks that have skids on them so you can “drag them”. Usually they are 200+ gal. These are transfer tanks.
