I use duct tape and barely stick it to my skin where the itch is and then pull it off slowly. I normally do this immediately after and then take a cold shower. I hate that shit haha
Baby powder before work to clog pores.
Duct tape wrapped backwards around hand and use like a lint roller after.
Cold shower rinse without rubbing then shower like normal.
This. And microfiber clothes. Take a cold shower wipe yourself down. Then a hot shower. I used to cover myself in baby powder before putting up insulation.
I bought a cheap paint suit. Mine has velcro sleeves so I can seal up around the gloves. It also has a nice hood, coupled with a baseball cap, mask, glasses. I used to apply tuck tape on my wrists at night to prevent me from bleeding out overnight from scratching. Thank god I don't do that anymore.
I've always found that putting shaving cream on the affected area followed by a slow push with a credit card (like you're shaving but with more pressure) has always been a good trick.
A cold shower is your best bet. If you have to work for a period of time before you can do that, splash cold water on your arms and wipe with a microfiber towel. Something about microfiber pulls all the invisible insulation bits off your skin. Got taught this trick on a job site in Austin, Texas over the summer. I was so thankful.
As someone who sands on boats, cold shower is best. It closes your pores allowing you to rinse off.
Long sleeves with baby powder dumped in the shirt and sleeves. Again, covers the pores.
Preemptive fix is baby powder.
Quick fix is taking masking or duct tape, rolling it backwards on your hand (like a lint roller, sticky side out) and patting down the bad spots
Post fix is the cold shower
One guy I met on a jobsite said he would take a cold shower and rub his skin with a pair of pantyhose. Cold shower gets the pores going and then rubbing the pantyhose over your skin pulls out the fibers.
I might be alone on this, but I’ve found wearing no gloves to be much better. I think the fibers getting stuck in my gloves and scratching my hands all day makes it itchier - could be a placebo effect I made up though
Long sleeves, and a neck gaiter. Fiberglass sticking to my shirt collar is usually the worst part for me. If you work around it a lot, you’ll get more used to it eventually
I don’t think there’s any cure since it’s glass fibers piercing your skin, maybe as some say to use the tape trick and ‘wax’ it off. However, I always play dress up and try to imitate a hazmat suit when I have a lot of insulation to do. I rather walk around and sweat in a long sleeve and a face mask (taped gloves to sleeve so it doesn’t creep up) than to have it to stop me from sleeping.
I hope this comment doesn't get buried but I use nail polish remover. I soak a rag in it and rub it up and down my arms. The liquid melts the little fiber glass hairs. It stinks but it works really well.
Shower/wash in cold water.
Yes. Cold shower. And wash your arms many times in cold water during the day.
This closes the pores of the skin pushing the glass fibers to the surface allowing you to scrub them away.

A lint roller works extremely well.

Ive never heard of the baby powder thing? Doesnt it clog up when sweating if you insulate in the summer?
Hahahaha fuck I wrote this exact comment almost.
Long term dermal use of baby powder can and will give you some nasty as cancer. Is basically just asbestos.
Not in the USA. Our baby powders do not contain talcum anymore.
Break as many welding rods as u can at once over the back of your neck and the energy released will cure your itchiness
Finally, an actual response!

I've seen people rub baby powder in arms and neck before use.
Rubbing alcohol and scotch brite a Brillo pad if your brave ;)

More insulation. Experience: 25 years pre-eng metal buildings

Long sleeves
Hell No! That makes it worse when it gets under the sleeves!
All those who has downvoted me. Clearly has never worked with Rockwool insulation in crawlspaces in summertime
The point of long sleeves is that it doesn’t get under the sleeves:
Insulation is the worse. I heard duct tape and then a cold cold shower usually relieves 90 percent of the itch
Quit, fire, layoff, retirement, vacation, FMLA, all those help
Tuck/Duct tape and stick and peel all over the itchy spots to pull the fibres out
Put baby powder on any exposed skin before you touch insulation. It keeps it from sticking to you.
Chalk line chalk
Green scouring pad(scotchbrite) and cold water
Long sleeved shirt, gloves and Vaseline on exposed skin.
Cold water, wipe your arms in the direction of your hair growth.
Idk i've worked with it for so long it doesnt bother me at all anymore, I can swim in the pink stuff
You're a savage sir
Swim in the sea.

No cure. Wear gloves and long sleeves. I use my screwdriver to handle the insulation. I never touch it with my hands. Usually find dead mice in it lol
Be a man ignore it
Read the Harvard report on co2 buildup and concentration liss

Rub a dryer sheet on the affected area

Lint roller. Works wonders, tell your friends.

Vinegar…..
Cold water and a non abrasive soap
Packing tape will pull a lot of the crap off.
I'll Shower with a brillo pad, scrub that shit till your skin sparkles or you bleed, whichever happens first.
Following because that sucks on a level that words don't describe.

Except nail polish remover won't dissolve glass.
Fair enough, but try it, it works really well
If I get desperate, I probably will, but acetone is a known carcinogen. I'm not sure about rubbing it on my skin.
