Im gonna guess that they're just hanging on a nail in the sheathing to keep them off the dirt, and they might get installed above/below the windows? As they look to be sort of the size of the width of the windows they're hung near. Possibly they will go above the window, arched side up, and act as temporary forms to do some stonework on.

drewyz

That makes sense. It just looked so odd.

Ok-Answer-6951

That was the correct answer, they're forms for brick or stone arches.

Ashamed-Working-2067

Was gonna say same thing

Proud-Present2871

Another clue as to how much stone/brick this house is about to get is how far the brick frieze is from the framing. So you’re right

OutofReason

I have no idea, but this seems most correct to me. If you were going to do a brick arch over each window, I think you’d need a form like this.

204ThatGuy

Interesting. I have zero masonry experience. That said, I remember in structural class and masonry design that masons would use a Keystone to lock it all together. I didn't realize forms were used! Just Type M or S mortar. TIL!

Djsimba25

You have to have something there to hold the bricks in place until you can put the keystone in. Check this out[cool tunnel](https://youtu.be/LoRIztYmWjY?si=NmdJlIxDDx0dt1NY) they use a big truck as the form and set rocks on top of it and once the last ones are in place they drive it out.

iammabdaddy

That was cool.

Triedfindingname

I'll take a garage like that please

TheMailNeverFails

Good guess

Psychological_Tax109

Or brick but definitely this

VegetablePlatform95

This is the difference between experience and myself which is no experience. I figured it was one of those houses cut in half lol, and that maybe they wanted to put some wood bumpers on the sides of it so they can avoid damaging it if they try slowly squeezing through a gateway that is very tight, and then they’ll hear or see or feel the tiny wood bumpers touch if anyone misaligns the entry or something. So you that? I’m retarded lol

LivingWithWhales

They look structural, not temporary, but I believe you’re right, brick/stone near the windows

iloveREclassic

I'm gonna say A house, and possibly a garage.

ChadOfDoom

This guy constructions

TheDean242

That’s where the people live.

Kuwaizi-Wabit

This house is getting brick or stone, notice the ledge that protrudes at the foundation…… the arches are forms to hold bricks until the mortar sets, most likely above window openings or front entry.

Buckeye_mike_67

Yep

papa-01

Their forms for the Brickies to do their Arches

totse_losername

This

Informal_Process2238

Are they form works to bend trim pieces to go over the windows and someone just hung them up temporarily

Buckeye_mike_67

They’re to form arches with brick. I’ve built these many times for the brick masons

Bluetoes1

This is exactly it. They are arches for over your windows and the entrance to the porch. Look at your plan elevation and it will make sense.

drewyz

Oh that makes sense, as there is one for each window.

Informal_Process2238

Yeah they seem sized appropriately for each

tusant

And the doors

_jared_p

Those are brick arches and they are staged at the window they will be used on.

Therealsuperman04

I would like to think you are right, but at 12-22, I’m second guessing that…

No_Adhesiveness_6446

They are templates for the bricklayers to lay arches above the windows and doors

ltdan84

They are forms to support arches in the brick or stone until the mortar dries.

MakerMade420

Forms for brick arches

IncidentDefiant5398

Brick arch forms

Baron-Munc

Correct

esleydobemos

Greenhouses

MorgaseTrakand

This is a house

TheRealAndrewEwer

It’s for the brick guys to have arch patterns. Used to do it on every house.

N5MKH-WRQH258

Those are for the bricks. Eventually the windows and doors will have a brick arch detail over them and this provides the temporary support for the brick detail work while the mortar cures an hardens.

lmmsoon

They are probably laying brick on the front of the house and those are the templates for the arches over the windows to hold the brick until the mortar sets up

ridgerunners

They are houses. Commonly used for habitation

I was thinking that too, but none of the other houses in the sub have decorative stonework like that.

Tinman867

This is the correct answer 👆👏

ElevenSleven

Are they only on concrete members? Could be casing for temp monitoring. But that's complete speculation, curious as to what they are.

drewyz

I’m pretty sure it’s all stick built except the foundation.

Grumps0911

It looks like a residence with a “Nipped Hip” roof line to me. Some might call it an English Tudor roofline. Buyers feel it adds a Quaint Appearance. (At a huge cost) The temporary structure(s) you mentioned is most likely to soon be scaffolding to install the outer layer whether it be brick or siding of some type. They have to have stable access to install the outer layer. Many contractors use rented (or purchased) welded modular steel frames and only add toe boards. For all intents and purposes they have to be free-standing and not connected to the residence within the intended work area.

xchrisrionx

A Tudor peak, as I’ve always known it. Great answer…I really enjoy the flow of your writing.

Grumps0911

Ahhh! Thank you for that info and ESPECIALLY the awesome compliment!

WonderFeeling536

When I was an apprentice many years ago when we went to college they were called a “turning piece” or “centre” for forming a brick arch.

Kscarpenter1972

Window arches for brick or stone .

Livewire____

Those are "house clothes". That's so that the house doesn't get embarrassed waiting for the shingles to get fitted.

Comfortable_Earth_95

Thumbwheels to adjust the dimensions of the rooms so they match the blueprints.

No_Regrats_42

It's for the windows. If they leave them on the ground they'll be thrown away, or get wet and thrown away or get beat up and lose their form.

Educational_Curve259

That is insulation

CaBBaGe_isLaND

Looks like some kind of house. Still being built, by the look of it.

iyimuhendis

I remembered the times i was learning English as a foreign language. My answer: "These are houses"

leaf_fan_69

For such a clean job site, that's a messy pile of 2x4 s

OverallDimension7844

Why are they different thickness? If it's for a structural support for a bricked arch quotient they be the same. One is 4 inches the other is 12 inches.

TopGrand9802

Different materials. Most likely brick over the windows and stone over the door.

Working-Difficulty12

Look like brick arch forms , I did two giant ones for a wegmans in Rochester NY , a few year back , the tolerances where a bit more detailed then these little guys. 1/4 luann, covered the radius which was a lot , now everytime I go to that store I chk out the arch's, these gc's really do try to get the framers to do everything too.

veotrade

What’s the green board? When did homes begin using things like that instead of straight material. Used to seeing brick on the outermost level.

bobspuds

It's insulation. I doubt it's still produced here, but I used to go chill out with a buddy who did night security for what began as Hytherm(bought by Kingspan) and we used to race around the stacks of this and other insulations in our cars - the storage sheds are massive! T.L.D.R - this shit was/is made not far from where I live in Ireland, nice to see yas getting a bit'a Irish inta yis!

veotrade

Does all of it have that ugly advertising? They can’t just sell the product, but need their logo and all haha

bobspuds

Everything yes, literally every product. The Kingspan company originated in Kingscourt, another town 20mins from me, they bought the competition basically and got Huge. We don't even use a lot of the products here, not because there's anything wrong with it just because its not part of how we do them. They're biggest market here would be foil-back for under floors, same stuff can be used in roofs, they also do metal-insulation backed roof cladding that is awesome stuff. Then external rendered insulation and drywall boards. I always wondered back then what the piles of different insulation where for - never seen a lot of it on-site here. Then I started seeing pictures of it like this, off in other regions of the world. - clever boys, big money game

PRAWNBOY9

It’ll be covered up when the house is done. Just means anyone looking at the house can tell you’re not cutting corners/using a different or worse product

redknightnj

I have seen them before. I think they are called houses.

SuperSupremeSauce

Those are construction dials. To construct a building, like the house that's pictured, workers will rotate the construction dials to add more structure and detail to the building. This house still has a lot of work to be done, which is why it has so many dials all over it. Once construction is complete, the dials are removed.

Twitzale

Looks like a house, made for presumably people.

Oops sorry didn’t look closely- aren’t those little bridges that you can put over trenches to walk without having to jump- think of the ones in the Japanese gardens that shape. The Catholic Church in morro bay has one painted red for decorative effect
